Don’t Bury the Dog!

In Su Ye's novel 'Evil Emperor', everyone in the Olden Continent was capable of cultivation. There were some who were naturally gifted and possessed spiritual roots within their bodies that revolved around the five major elements of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. It enabled cultivators to be one with nature, and the strongest amongst them stood atop the hierarchy of cultivators, moving heaven and earth.

Even those who were not gifted could rise to the top by cultivating and honing their physique, though their journey would be more difficult. There were also those who, through chance and circumstance, developed altered spiritual roots such as frost, lightning, and the like.

Being from a family of alchemists and having inherited her father's mantle, Su Ye's body possessed the dual spiritual roots of wood and fire. As the compatibility between the five elements stipulated, wood births fire and is mutually engendered to it. As such, Su Ye was born with talent as an alchemist. It was therefore a shame that her training had been put off indefinitely—thanks to her superstrength, no one would dare challenge her even if she never cultivated.

Su Ye looked down at her hands. She should start cultivating after she was done with Winter Jasmine. After all, gaining another bit of strength was just gaining another bit of assurance: one could never go wrong by getting stronger.

Just as the thought crossed her mind, Su Ye saw Xiao Xing dashing towards her, gasping for air. "Milady… the governor has returned, and he's at your manor."

Su Ye promptly looked up in surprise. "So early?"

Xiao Xing nodded, and added in a much softer voice, "The governor heard that you emptied the manor to buy a gigolo and neglected your work, which is why he stormed home."

Su Ye promptly left the garden and rushed to her manor. As she hurried to meet her father, she heard the wolfdog barking fiercely at the flower bud behind her as it was being constricted.

"Bow-wow-wow! Bow-wow-wow!"

Meanwhile, Su Ye left the garden and headed back to her manor. She had just entered when a loud crash echoed—someone had thrown a tea cup near her. The tea soaked her sleeves. She looked up to see her father clutching his chest, his other hand pointing straight at her face.

"Y-You! How could you do something so stupid!?" He roared, flustered.

Su Ye looked at her assailant. It was Su Jiuguo—Su Ye's own father. He was clothed in embroidered robes, and was rather short and pudgy. Above his beard, his eyes were wide and glaring at her furiously.

Beside them, Xiao Xing was kneeling down quietly.

Seeing that her father was that furious, Su Ye smiled and tried to explain, "Ah, I had no choice, Father…"

Before she could finish, Su Jiuguo stomped on the shattered teacup, causing it to crunch loudly as he barked, "You had no choice? I think you must have been enamored by some filth to resort to emptying our coffers!"

Su Jiuguo was clearly speaking out of rage, and he paused for a moment to think about it.

Wasn't that exactly the case?!

Since he was more or less of the same height as Su Ye, he could press one of his pudgy fingers to her shoulder angrily. His beard was bristling as he glared at her. "What do you think I should say here? Do you still want more, even with all the men serving you at your manor, and with you running off to the brothel every other day? You've completely lost your mind because of that wretch! Just look at you—you don't even look like a governor! Dumping a hundred thousand golden leaves at the drop of a hat… I think there'll be a day when you eventually use me as compensation too!"
