No One Can Stop Me from Being Nice To the Male Lead!

Su Ye sighed wearily at that piece of information. If only she had learnt earlier that the Winter Jasmine had burned down… "Does Father know?"

Xiao Xing thought about it, then explained, "I did as you instructed, milady—we found a set of furniture closely resembling the ones we sold to replace the original set. At the moment, the governor should be too busy with the guests to realize it."

Su Ye quickened her pace at that, saying, "You don't have to return to the manor with me for now—get the others to recover that furniture set. I'll divert Father away from the hall once the guests leave, and the rest of you will replace that set of furniture during that time, without anyone realizing. Got it?"

Xiao Xing was perplexed. "You don't need the money anymore, milady?"

"The ones I owed money to are dead, so who would I pay anyway?" With those words, Su Ye hurried off alone to the governor's manor, trying to recall the plot of the book. Who could be visiting the manor at this time, and asking for the mirrod pill too? She eventually shook her head, having no clue. Anyone was fine—as long as it was not the male lead.

Now, Su Ye just had to wait for the guests to leave, and swap the furniture back with no one catching on. After all, her father had quite the temper, and would be stomping his feet if he realized that she sold off his favorite furniture set behind his back.

Having come to a decision, she headed inside the manor… but the further she went, the more she sensed a presence that gave her goosebumps. She looked around at the trees and the surrounding walls, but found nothing out of place. There were two maids watering the garden and sweeping the fallen leaves. Was she imagining things? With that in mind, she stepped onto the marble stairs… and heard someone clearing their throat. "Ahem."

Then, a calm, silky voice could be heard: "Why hold on to something that holds no meaning to life? You'll have nothing if you're dead."

Su Jiuguo could be heard laughing heartily before firing back, "Those who covet my family recipe are as many as the fishes in the sea. Do you think I could hold my seat as governor if I handed it over because of a few threatening words?"

A faint guttural chuckle ensued. "You speak reason, governor. If that is the case…"

The other person stopped, as Su Ye's arrival interrupted them. "Wait, Father." When she spoke, all three men in the manor hall turned towards her simultaneously. For her part, Su Ye was staring at the sickly man sitting on one of the chairs. She balled a fist, hidden beneath her sleeve.

The man was exceedingly good-looking. Clothed in a red robe embroidered with golden threads, his long black hair was tied over his back with a hairpin. Upon being interrupted, his long eyelashes were raised as he looked up at Su Ye. He did a double take when he finally realized who had arrived. His crimson lips slowly curved into a smile, making the red spider lily mark at the corner of his eye move as well.

Who else could it be but Su Qing himself!

His vulpine eyes were locked onto Su Ye, and his Adam's apple bobbed as he murmured, "Savior?" He started coughing violently right after he spoke, but even in his sickly state, his ethereal beauty prevented anyone from tearing their eyes away.

Su Ye quickly walked up to him, fumbling through her pouch and eventually producing a milky-white porcelain bottle. Popping the stopper open, she took out one black pill from within, and held it before him.

Right now, her every move was completely driven by survival instincts.
