Chapter 5

After an hour long that feels like 712178 of not so peaceful hours has passed, the satan and the chipmunk can no longer be seen on any angles of the sisters's house for they have left. Although it had only been a few hours after their first encounter with Lily, they had grown too fond of her. She had been a great "entertainment" for them.

But in a good way, of course.

The two idiots hugged the bear like she meant everything to them for a good 5 minutes, yes, they were that fond of Lily.

But they made a pack to visit the bear again when they have the time. With more accessories, or some fun stuff, they said. "Or maybe with some costumes!" Jennifer recalled what the satan said with a devil-like grin plastered all over her face.

Then it was followed by "Please don't go missing."

"Please stay adorable,"

"We'll be back!", etc.

They were full of drama while Lily was just :D

Jennifer rolled her eyes.

Her train of thoughts stopped as her gaze landed on Lily who's currently going through the decos on the 4 walls of the living room.

"What is this?" Lily turned her head towards Jennifer, pointing at a framed painting.

"That's a painting." Lily tilted her head. Looks like she needs to explain it to her.

"Colours applied on a surface to form an image of something that you wanted?" Jennifer furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, not so sure about her own words.

"What's an image?"

"What you're seeing now is an image. I think..." The mumbled the last part, still unsure about her explanations.

"OOH I see." The bear nodded nevertheless. Somehow the painting caught her attention. Everything caught her attention, actually, but this one is different as she traced her fingers on the canvas.

Just then Emma came back from the bathroom, she plumped herself beside her sister while drying her hair with a towel.

"What's up, now?" The youngest points her chin on Lily who had removed her attention from the framed painting to the other side of the wall as she examining everything out of curiousity.

"I don't know..." Jennifer sighed. Her sister pursed her lips as they both just eye whatever the bear is doing.

"Uh what should I do with her?" The oldest then pinch the bridge of the nose when Lily patted an empty side of the sky blue coloured wall before hugging it.

Lily is hugging the wall.

"Looks like we don't have any other choice than to keep her." Emma held back her laughter when she sees the bear smiled, still hugging the wall.

"But she's clueless about everything!"

"Don't worry, I'll help you with that. Besides, she learns fast! Seriously! It's like she's gifted, by God's grace." Her sister chuckled, "It'll be fun too!" She added.

"Well..." Jennifer heaved another sigh. She's calmed for a moment there, though she's supposed to be amused. But she doesn't have the time for that, she thought.

There was a moment of silence after that, until a growling sound of Lily's stomach echoed through it.

"WHAT WAS THAT?!" Lily stumbled backward from hugging the wall, but she managed to hold herself with her two feet, fists held out in a fighting pose as something is about to jump out and make her nose bleed again.

"You're hungry." Emma laughed.

"What is hungry?"

The youngest just stood up and went to their fridge, Lily's eyes following her. She took out a cookie and held it out to the bear's direction. "Do you want this?"

"YESSSS!" The bear gasped before nodding vigorously.

"That's hungry." She then walked to the hungry bear and gave it which she happily munch down.

Jennifer just scratched her head at their exchanges before ordering Emma to get one for her too for she's also hungry.

"Uhh.. sis?"

"Hm?"

"We're out of it." Emma said flatly. "We're out of everything to be exact. I think we need to do some grocery shopping."

Jennifer jolted up. "My banana milks????"

"I think Lily took the last one."

Jennifer's glare was answered by an innocent smile.

"No choice we need to restock anyway." After one last sigh, she stood up, making her way to her room.

"But what about her?" Emma motioned to Lily.

Her sister stopped after climbing the first stair. She turn to Lily, biting her lips while eyeing her momentarily.

"Emma, can you stay home and keep an eye on her?"

"No way, I need to look for my stuff too!" She whined.

They really don't have any other choice.

____

The sisters' stood abruptly in front of their door, wearing casual outfits like plain tee's and skinny jeans. Lily's still in her new set of clothes. Luckily her blood didn't stain her yellow baggy shirt, but it did stain Jennifer.

They'll only head to do some groceries, so why bother dressing up? Of course, Jennifer didn't want people to think that she just assassinated someone.

"Lily?" Jennifer turned around, calling the girl who's currently hugging the empty wall on the right side of the corridor.

"Mmmyes?" The bear said, with one eye open in the same position.

"Come here." Lily pulled back and walked towards her master. "What is it?"

"Um..we're going out now." She stared at the bear. "Stay by me or Emma's side okay?" She held the taller by her shoulders and tilted her head forward to look up into her eyes.

"Okay!"

"You ready?" Jennifer looks at her sister who just grinned back.

Holding into Lily's hand, she took a deep breathe before twisting the front door open. "Here goes nothing."

___

After what seems like forever to Jennifer when they made their way to the supermarket (Blame Lily for her 712178 questions of "What is that?") they managed to survive as they stood in front of the building.

"Oh my God!!" Lily learnt that from Mia. "WHAT IS THIS GIANT HOUSE??"

The bear had her jaw drop as she motion at the almighty size of the supermarket.

"It's not a house, bear. It's a Supermarket. It's where people get stuff that they want." Emma looked up to the building.

"SHHHHHH! Be quiet, people might kick us out!" Jennifer shushed the bear who immediately held her master's hand afterward.

"We're not even in yet, sis."

"SHUSH I SAID."

___

"From the looks of it, we may need a cart." Emma suggested when her hands were almost full of their needs.

"Oh! Yeah, why didn't I think of that?" Jennifer facepalmed herself with a carrot. It was the only thing she's carrying since Lily was clinging into her right arm.

"Because you were too busy explaining things to Lily. I've suggested that ever since we went inside but you were too occupied with Lily" Her sister said flatly.

Emma was right. It was hell of a hectic battle in Jennifer and Emma's mind, trying to come out with the right sentences with just the right amount of words to Lily's questions. Good thing that Lily is a fast learner, for she doesn't ask the same question seeing the same thing that she has asked before.

"Can you get the cart, please?" Jennifer threw her younger sister her pitiful looking eyes. She really can't go since....Lily.

"Ew, but okay." Emma went to fetch one near the entrance.

"What's a cart?"

Jennifer sighed. "You'll see."

Emma came back soon after that, thankfully.

"That's a cart." Her master pointed at the cart Emma came pushing lazily.

"And it helps us carry things that are hard for us to carry when we're in here!" Emma decided to finish her sister's sentence. She smiled at Emma, thanking her.

"Why are you better at explaining things? I found it very hard!" Jennifer puffed her cheeks. It was actually true. She had always found it hard to explain the use of something when Lily kept asking them. "Y'know, I think I can trust Lily on you."

"I just happen to be that smart, I guess." She pushed the cart by her sister's side just to pat her cheeks. "I'm not complaining, Lily is fun." She tilted her head backward to take a sight of the bear who's still mesmerized by everything around her.

Jennifer ruffled her sister's hair after putting the carrot in the cart.

They continued picking up several things afterward. Some packs of cookies that Lily happened to recognize, Jennifer's banana milk to her liking and boxes of orange juice are lasts on the list of their needs.

It may sound a lot if you include all of the kitchen needs but the cart was only half full.

And Lily has been behaving very well. Too well that Jennifer started to worry. She didn't trip on nothing like the first time she did at her house or the second when they're making their way to the supermarket. Only this time, they manage to catch Lily.

Luck must be at her side this time.

"Ah! I almost forgot!" Emma slightly slammed a fist to her other free palm after releasing the cart.

"What is it?" Jennifer and Lily turned to the latter.

"My marshmallows!" Emma exclaimed.

Jennifer mouthed an 'Oh', "You better go get them, I need cook dinner for us." She waved Emma telling her to be quick. Jennifer knows too well about Emma's obsession on her fav marshmallow.

"What are marshmallows?"

Emma gasped, putting a hand on her chest. "You don't kno- Oh wait, of course you don't." Her eyes turned lame. "I'll show it to you! Come with me! sis, I'm gonna bring this cart along!"

"Yah, Emma-" Jennifer pulled Lily back when Emma tugged her right arm, trying to pull the bear to the section she was about to head.

The OH ALMIGHTY CANDY SECTION.

"B-But-" The youngest whined loudly. She likes Lily and she couldn't bear that the bear will never be able to witness the paradise. She was exaggerating, they could always go again. But that's not how Emma rows. Heh.

To their surprise, Lily held her postion when Jennifer pulled her to her side. She smiled to her master.

"It's okay, Jennifer. You did say to stay by either one of you." Ok that really took Jennifer by surprise. Even Emma was left gaping.

Since when can the bear be this... 'Not Lily'? They weren't able to make up any words to describe her action.

"O-Okay.." Her master slowly let go of her hand from Lily's arm.

"Yeahhh!! Lily, hold on to my shoulders." The bear did as told. "Let's go!!"

With that, Emma dashed out of the scene with the cart in her hands followed by Lily who's running clumsily trying to match her pace.

"Wait!" Jennifer raised an arm trying to stop them. It was no use. They're already out of sight.

Jennifer let out a chuckle after staring at the direction her sister dragged Lily to.

Maybe she wasn't so dense at all. Maybe I should worry less.

____

"AND HERE WE HAVE THE OH SO GLORIOUS, SO MAJESTIC, SO EXTRAVAGANT, SO WONDERFUL CANDY SECTION! Or paradise, as what I prefer to call it." Emma was holding Lily's hand while her other hand waving around the said section, admiring each and every brand the pass.

Lily's eyes were everywhere, she was so excited. Different types of sweets and snacks of all sorts of brand were stacked neatly in each shelf, sorted accordingly to the colours of each flavour respectively.

Every turn the bear made are filled with colours, she couldn't stop smiling.

Emma smiled when she saw how giddy the bear got. But they don't have much time to be sight-seeing. She needs to find her marshmallow quick.

"Lily?"

"Hm?" The older chirped, a little to brightly.

In order to get her thing, she needs to let go Lily for a while. She bit her lips, searching for something that may distract her but will not change her position.

Emma panicked a little, until her gaze landed on the cart in front of her. An idea popped in her brain.

"Can you hold on to this while I get my stuff over there?" She pointed at a part of a shelf filled with pink-coloured sweets. "You can look around at the mean time!"

"Oh! Okay!" The bear nodded.

Emma moved Lily's hands from her shoulders and to the handle of the cart. She held it tight.

"Don't move, okay?" Emma backed away slowly, her index fingers held out to warn her. Like a dog owner teaching his dog to sit and stay.

The bear only blinked when Emma turned around to the shelf when she backed off far enough. Her eyes started to wonder around when Emma's attention wasn't on her anymore.

Being the newbie to everything she is, she just studied on everything again, not forgetting the grin.

The grin on her fast broke into a gaping one, as her eyes landed on something stacked on the highest shelf to her right.

It was a chocolate milk standing gloriously on the edge of the shelf, outshining everything else around it. Emma's warning long forgotten as the bear pushed the cart under the said shelf.

"Emma?" Lily voiced out. Emma hummed but she didn't turn around. As long as Lily is still audible, she won't go missing, Emma thought.

"Can Lillian have something too?" The bear asked, it almost sounded like a beg.

Emma chuckled, her attention is still on her side of the shelf. "Go ahead! I'm sure jen wouldn't mind."

"Thank you!"

With the wanted permission, Lily tiptoed herself to reach the certain drink, but failed. She groaned quietly after a few more failed tries. She wanted to ask for Emma's help but how can someone shorter than herself do any help? She frowned sadly as her last attempt to reach the drink failed.

The bear was about to give up until on her last last last attempt, she jumped slightly, slapping the bottle of its position.

She grinned widely but it didn't last when the chocolate milk didn't land on her hands. Instead, it went rolling away.

"NO!" Lily shouted, earning Emma's full attention this time.

"W-What-" She quickly turn around to where she had last seen the bear but only to have her jaw dropped when she was not in her sight.

"Oh no no no." The latter kept repeating her words while trying to spot wherever Lily could be. She then turned swiftly and there she saw her. But it didn't make anything better.

Lily was pratically running towards the rolling bottle with the cart still in her hands. Trying to chase it. Surprisingly, it rolls a little to fast.

"LILY!!!!"

___

Jennifer was at the cleaning supplies section of the supermarket. Wanting to try something new, she opened a few bottles of fabric softeners. Each one of it smells really nice, it took her a while to pick one.

She didn't even realize that the two other took a little too long on picking just sweets.

She's too into the fabric softeners. She likes the smell of its fragrance. So soft, so calming, it puts her mind at ease.

Her decision was finally made as she picked the first one that she inhaled. It was lavender scented.

"I knew you were the one!" She whispered as she held it close to her chest.

Jennifer absentmindedly look to her left as she heard people rustling over something.

She saw something bottle rolling fast across the way between the shelves, followed by a cart with someone on it, making it seem like the person was chasing the thing.

"Is that a...chocolate milk?" She furrowed her eyebrows.

"COME BACK HERE, YOU!!" Her smile dropped. She quickly averted her eyes back to the scene.

"Li-"

"PLEASE DON'T GO AWAY!! LILLIAN NEEDS YOU!!" Lily literally had her right foot on the metal on top of the cart wheels with her left one pushing the ground, increasing the speed of the cart.

"-ly"

"YAH LILY! COMEBACK HERE JENNIFER WILL KILL BOTH OF US!!!"

Emma has appeared with bags of pink marshmallow swirls in her arms, chasing after a bear who's riding on a shopping cart, chasing after the bottle that's rolling in a speed of light by God's grace.

How can it rolls that fast?

Jennifer took back everything she had thought about her.

Maybe she wasn't so dense at all, my foot.
