Chapter 32:TOURNAMENT ARC!!!!
I woke up and grabbed the 15 Candy Coins Miko prepared for me in advance. I'm not sure what it is for but I brought it with me just in case. Noel stands outside of the camp at the same spot as always.
"You're early." [Noel]
"That's because I looked forward to what you have planned for me today" [Edge]
"Hmmph, you brought 15 Candy Coins as I asked?" [Noel]
"About that.., what is it for?" [Edge]
"You better hope you don't get to use them. Follow me." [Noel]
I followed Noel all the way into the last camp that I haven't entered yet, the military base of the Candy Kingdom. The size of the troops is the largest out of all the camps combined and all of them are well equipped, armed to the teeth. We went to one of the bases and there was an open field with spectator seats surrounding it. Everyone was already seated and in the middle of the field, there were Noel's troops and many other troops from other units. In total there were close to 300 units aligned on the field.
"EVERYONE!!! TODAY WE ARE HAVING A SPECIAL EVENT, A WELCOMING GIFT TO OUR BOY HERE EDGELORD." [Noel]
I felt all of them staring at me and started feeling bashful being the center of attention.
"TODAY'S TOURNAMENT IS KING OF THE HILL!! THERE CAN BE ONLY 1 PERSON STAYING ON THE FIELD AT THE END OF THE DAY. AS FOR THE WINNER-" [Noel]
Just as the winner's prize was going to be announced someone cut her words and voiced out his dissatisfaction.
"Come on danchou, we all know it's another gyudon meal so there's no way- "[-]
"THE WINNER GETS A PUFF PUFF FROM ME!" [Noel]
"I'M MOTIVATED!" [-]
"EH?" [Edge]
The guy changed his attitude completely and now he's fully motivated. Its not just him, everyone in the field glared at their colleagues as if they are ready to murder each other to become number 1.
"BY THE WAY, EDGE WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN IT, IF ANYONE ELIMINATES HIM, THEY GET SOMETHING SPECIAL FROM ME OKAY!!" [Noel]
"We're not fools, we're soldiers, we can't possibly gang up on someone who's just barely turned into an adult just becau-." [-]
"HEARTBEAT ASMR FOR 15 MINUTES!" [Noel]
"CHARGE!!!" [SOLDIERS]
" *chuckles* "[Edge]
I'M IN DANGER !! I might need to use that if all of them were to come on me all at once. I placed my sweating hand on the hilt of my sword and try to calm down.
"OH, BY THE WAY, NO WEAPONS, NO KILLING YOUR OPPONENTS, THAT'LL BE ALL!! THE TOURNAMENT STARTS NOW !!" [Noel]
I look at Noel who is backing off from where we were standing confusingly. And she just mouthed me these words 'All the best, prove yourself okay.' she then waved her hand and turned around. Before I noticed I was already surrounded by the hungry beasts that are prepared to rip me apart. A huge man stood in front of me and said.
"Hi, my name is Armstrong. So, do you want to do this the civil way or the rough way?" [Armstrong]
Using my wits I managed to come up with a solution.
"Seeing that we're all civil men, how about you decide by yourselves who should be the one to gain the ASMR experience after duking it out on your own. However, there can only be a champion to take all or to take the prizes separately." [Edge]
"Indeed, so what do you propose?" [Armstrong]
"Gentlemen, I say we place 10 men on the field at a time and let them duke it out and the last one standing advance to the next stage just like good civil men" [Edge]
"Interesting proposition, then how do we solve who gets the ASMR experience?"[Armstrong]
I think they prefer getting the ASMR over being the champion so I had to make a compromise. This is nice because they are falling into the trap.
"I'll go first, and whenever I'm the last one standing I stay on the stage until I drop. Wouldn't that be fair?" [Edge]
The big brawny man and the other soldiers from Noel's squad discussed by themselves and then they came back to tell me their resolution.
"We accept your proposition young man, let's start now!"[Armstrong]
"But first, who would be the first 10 to challenge me, there are 24 of you in the squad." [Edge]
Their eyes widened and reality started to sink in.
"Now gentlemen, CYCLONE JET CANNON!!!!" [ARMSTRONG]
"YOU SON OF UGH..."[-]
"Why....."[-]
Using his ability he blew away half of his squad now leaving 12 of them.
"I'm going ahead, you all duke it out to figure out who takes the other 9 spots" [Armstrong]
Armstrong stepped towards me and stood in front of me.
"You're one sly kid, can't believe you fooled everyone just like that, let's see if your strength is as good as your wits shall we."[Armstrong]
Armstrong did not hesitate and rushed into my range impatiently. He went on blasting dense energy of wind that forms into cyclones in close range. I did an evasion maneuver to step out of his cyclone and he nearly misses me. I ended up at his right side so I circulated my Ki and using strengthening, I hit his pancreas with controlled strength. Armstrong vomited and collapsed immediately, he lays on the ground in extreme pain but he still managed to stay awake. He's no longer in a condition to fight with a bruised pancreas.
"Do you yield?" [Edge]
"This is embarrassing."[Armstrong]
Armstrong passed out and the medical staff came and carried him away. At the same time, the others have settled their fight with 9 people but 1 man short.
"THERE'S ONE MORE OPEN SPOT FOR THE FIRST FIGHT!!! WHO WANTS IN!!" [Edge]
Everyone knows being the first 10 to fight me had a bigger chance to score the ASMR experience, and so it became a beautiful sea of brawls. It's all chaotic with adding in their personal abilities. Eventually, the dust settles and we begin the first and final bout in the afternoon. The original cast of 9 people stood their place as expected of Noel's squad. The last guy was all battered. After they know they couldn't win their places from Noel's squad they all fought to the bitter end for the last spot. The guy was barely wearing anything now with claw marks all over his body and bite marks on his legs. It's amazing how far they went just to feel Noel's badonkers.
"Your scheme ends here, you are going down." [-]
They surrounded me on all sides and positioned themselves accordingly to their advantage. From their previous battles, I've observed their strength to a certain extent. There are 2 mages, and the others are all ability users. Without a word, I ran towards the strongest out of all of them, someone with stage 9 strengthening
"STOP HIM, HE'S GOING TO GET THE PRIZE!!"[-]
I can hear the mages start their chant immediately. The man I'm about to run into had a wide grin on his face as he prepared to knock me out with his fist. However, before I managed to reach him a huge fireball and a water torrent had been cast towards us.
"{Bind}" [-]
I suddenly felt my feet stuck on the ground. Following the momentum I've built up I ducked down waiting for the impending blast with metal Ki equipped. I felt a ball of searing heat and a chilling stream passing over my head. The spell converged and exploded in front of the man and 5 others were caught in the blast. A loud sound resounded throughout the field, shocking everyone.
*BOOM!*
"Are they still alive?" [Audience]
"Idiots, their military uniform has high magic resistance. They're knocked out at most. " [General]
The water vapor resulting from the blast is still lingering in the air, obstructing the view, Now that there's mana everywhere the mage should be unable to sense my mana as I make the drop on them. I touched the hilt of my sword and saw 3 depleted mana signals in the dust particles of mana but the two mages were together so there's no confusion for I know the third person must be the battered soldier. I located them both and I took down one of them from behind. The other mage was confused and started firing spells to his surroundings as I was busy choking his friend. I chucked a rock toward the directions of the other 2 of the mana signatures so he started firing his last few spells at both of them and succeeding in knocking them out. With his mana depleted, he is now no longer a threat to me.
Now it's just me and the tattered Soldier. The vapor rises and the stage is visible again. In the field, there are only 2 men standing and the rest of them are incapable of fighting. The tattered man looked at his surroundings.
"Really? saving the weakest for the last huh?" [-]
"No offense, but you do look like you're on your last legs" [Edge]
"Your name...I didn't quite catch it earlier." [-]
"The name's Edgelord, what about you warrior." [Edge]
"Edgelord huh, my name's Joe, people call me.. Undying Joe!" [Joe]
Joe raced towards me like his injuries didn't matter, from his previous fights I was sure that he's already one foot in the grave. How could he still move like that? I intercepted his punches and kicks reflexively and gauged his skills. He's not as well trained as Armstrong and I could evade his punches easily. So I decided that maybe I could evade his attacks until he collapses from the injuries he took.
30 minutes later....He's still going on and there's no sign of him out of breath. It must be his ability. I decided to finally hit back and study his ability. Evading an uppercut, I hit his ribs and cracked them in the process. Joe groaned in pain but after muttering something underneath his breath he started attacking again as if the resulting injury didn't matter. Maybe it's a voice activation healing ability? This time I struck him at the same place and also his throat, crushing his voice. Joe stumbled and fell as he tries to yell using his crushed throat. When I thought this is it he managed to yell out one word.
"*Kehuk....hyuk* O....OP...OOPPAIIIII!!!!!" [Joe]
Damn it I guess that wasn't it. I Injured him over and over again but he still managed to stand up.
"You can't stop him, He'll always outlast you."[depleted mage]
"My ability is [Willpower] as long as you can't break my will you can never hope to defeat me. Today is my lucky day, the captain isn't participating in this so I am destined to win from the start. Looks like I won't be needing these today." [Joe]
Joe threw some candy coins out of his tattered pants. I then thought of Noel's words, are they meant to be used here? I took out the 15 Candy coins from my pocket and showed them to him.
"What?!! Why would you have it too!" [Joe]
"Well.., Noel asked me to take it with me yesterday..." [Edge]
Joe's eyes seemed to wander and looked at Noel who was smiling brightly on the sidelines. After a moment of silence, he sighed and turned around, walking in the opposite direction of me.
"I give up..." [Joe]
"Wait! why?!!" [Edge]
"I can't win, not today. SEE YOU AT THE HORIZON EDGE!!" [Joe]
With a depressing voice he left just like that, and what does he mean by that...
Just as he exited the field I saw Noel approaching me from the other side of the field. With a bright smile, she is coming at me with fighting intent. I grinned with excitement in my heart and walked towards her with steady steps.
"Oh, you're approaching me?" [Noel]
"Instead of running away, you're coming right to me?" [Noel]
I know my capabilities, but I must know the difference in our strength, whether it's something I could achieve in the future. Besides, she got me into this mess.
"I can't beat the shit out of you without getting closer" [Edge]
"Ara, then come as close as you like" [Noel]
