Chapter 42:King of Elves

"Ugh...did I fall asleep?" [Edge]

"You dozed off midway during our talk, maybe it's because you haven't slept since yesterday." [Luna]

"How long was I asleep?"[Edge]

I looked at Calli and wait for her reply.

"3 hours, more or less..." [Calli]

So I directed the question back to Luna,

*YAWN* "So, where were we?"[Edge]

"Eh.. You were asking me where did I learn magic." [Luna]

"I see, lets continue on from there."[Edge]

"As I was saying, I had been writing magic thesis and researching magic in my free time for the Demon-Realm Academy"[Luna]

"What? But you weren't born with the ability to use mana." [Edge]

"That's right, but that doesn't mean I can't be good at it, it's just a matter of not being able to use it. At least that was the case until I gained mana."[Luna]

"That was probably because your ability went out of control, but I can't tell why it would have resulted in the growth of your mana. What were your abilities originally?" [Edge]

Luna looks at Calli for a moment and then looks right back at me.

"I have 2 bloodline abilities, the first is the eye of truth and the second is the eye of command."[Luna]

"I see I've read about the both of them from the records of the vault. So that's the reason you can be so proficient in magic, It's all thanks to the eye of truth." [Edge]

It all makes sense how she can pull off the teleportation spell but it still doesn't really explain how she has gotten so much mana from just her ability going out of control. I decided that its futile to try and reason with it so I decided to just leave that question for now.

"Is that how you knew Shion?" [Edge]

"Yes, she drops by to pick up the research I made every month and helps me to remove my wrinkles for free using her mirror." [Luna]

"... I see, so that's what she usually uses it for" [Edge]

We talked for hours until the guards came into our cell and urged us to follow them. Calli picked up the pink-haired toddler and carried her over the shoulder. Our hands were shackled by magical cuffs that prevent us from using magic because both the barriers have been shattered by the mana released by the teleportation spell previously. After we were brought out of the dungeon we were greeted by a group of elves holding their spears.

Out of the group, I saw our target. A half-elf with an hourglass figure, brown skin that stands out, having blond hair, and a chiseled face. It was Flare, she was wearing oriental clothing that seems to be a variant of Mio's clothes, I have read that the elves originated from Yamato and they have migrated to Clover eons ago. Which makes their attire closer or became a variant of what the people of Yamato would wear. Flare carried a bow and quiver of arrows that seem to be made out of bones.

"That's all of them? Well then, follow me."[Flare]

6 people along with Flare escorted us towards the city.

"Where are we going?" [Edge]

Flare looked back at me then turned to face forwards. None of them answered my question and stayed silent as we entered the city.

Some of them boo-ed us and some of them were afraid, maybe because some of them never went out of the forest in their entire lives. I expected to be smeared in shit but I guess it's due to the consideration that Flare is the one escorting us that we are getting better treatment from the people.

We exited the town and walked into the deeper woods within the barrier and we ended up standing outside the entrance of a cave that is lightly guarded by 2 guards that were lightly armed.

"The King is waiting" [Door Guard]

"We'll enter now" [Flare]

We all entered the cave and descended down the staircase.

The cave is tall and wide with multiple entrances that left traces of it being a monster's lair. We entered one of the entrances and from there we reached the throne room of the King of Elves.

The Throne room was dimly lighted by magical stones and the chandeliers on top of the ceiling. The room was wide, very wide and there are many small caves on top of the ceiling and on the walls of the cave, The most striking thing in the cave is the corpse of Hydras lined up standing along the walls. And on the ground is a red carpet that goes all the way towards the throne and the ground is made of soil in the cave which is strange. On the Throne sat a man dressed in a dark blue robe with a hood covering his face.

"KNEEL!" [Flare]

We all kneeled in front of the King except Calli.

"What are you doing? Kneel!" [Flare]

"A god doesn't kneel, ma'am." [Calli]

The King laughed like a roaring storm

"HAHAHAHAHAHA, it's ok, I like her guts. You may stand." [King of Elves]

"I believe all of you might be confused as to why you're all here, so let's just get to the point."[King of Elves]

As he's saying that, the elves that followed us unlocked our shackles and ran out of the room.

"It's a beautiful day outside" [King of Elves]

The king stood up from his throne.

"NO!" [Flare]

"Birds are singing. Flowers are blooming..." [King of Elves]

The king steps forward.

"On days like this. Kids like you..." [King of Elves]

"FATHER! STOP!!" [Flare]

*BANG*

The king flinched his head back as if he was being hit by something. He just stood on his feet with his head tilted backward.

'Gunshot?' [Edge]

"How ya doing kid!" [Botan]

Botan jumped down from one of the caverns while holding a sniper rifle along with Noel.

"You okay?" [Noel]

"We're fine Noel." [Luna]

"Who're you?" [Noel]

But suddenly music started to ring from everywhere in the cave.

"Why do I hear boss music?"[Edge]

In the hall, skeletal soldiers walked out of the caves playing instruments.

The King moved slightly and with his hood dropped and his slightly opened robe revealed his shorts.

The king slowly tilted his head forwards and reveals a skull with a left eye that has a blue flame burning brightly. He held his hand out and declared.

"Should be burning in hell!" [King of Elves]
