Queen Jindeok and her soldiers stood as they faced the battlefield while they watched Seolbong Mountain in a distance.
"Your Majesty." Yushin Rang said.
"We are ready." Queen Jindeok said.
"Yes Your Majesty." Sangdaedeung Alcheon replied.
"Let the war begin." Queen Jindeok said.
King Uija was in his Chambers and General Gyebaek was helping him to wear his suit of armor while he recalled the words that Queen Jindeok had said to him.
"What was it again, a truce, a union, there's nothing from Paekche and especially from Your Majesty that is worth borrowing and worth sharing as well because Calmness, tranquility, the blood of your people and the blood of mine can't be calmed by surrender there must be defeat on one side and Victory on the other." The Queen had said so seriously.
"Because I love Shilla so much, I can not share it, because I can not share it I shall choose to fight for it to the very last breath of mine, even if I have to see Sabi rising to smoke and Paekche burning to ashes, I will do whatever it takes for it." She'd promised and right at that very moment he was shaken that his attention was brought back into the room.
"Your Majesty, are you ready?" General Gyebaek asked.
"To live to die, this day, the fate of this my country rests in my own hands and I shall do whatever it takes to ensure that I shall secure it." King Uija replied.
"Honourable Songchung said that we are not ready and he was right, we are much too weak." General Gyebaek said.
"We have to try our best." King Uija replied.
General Gyebaek lifting his breastplate he put it into him.
"And what's our best Your Majesty?" He asked as he tied it to him.
"Protecting Sabi." King Uija replied.
"At last one more battle has been waged and Daeya Fortress itself is no longer ours to boast, if this final wall is weakened Your Majesty then I am very much afraid that it is a loss that shall on our side never be recovered." General Gyebaek said.
"You don't have to be afraid, regardless of the outcome if I must fight to the very bitter end then I certainly shall." King Uija said.
"And I shall be by Your side Your Majesty." General Gyebaek replied.
At that very moment General Pocheon walked into the room.
"Your Majesty." He said as he bowed his head.
"Where does Shilla stand?" King Uija asked.
"How can I measure Your Majesty?" General Pocheon asked, "I think that this is something that you should see for yourself." He added.
"I'll be there." King Uija said as he turned and looked at General Gyebaek who was standing right there by his side.
He nodded his head as they finalized his suit of armor he was looking into a mirror.
"You're all done Your Majesty." General Gyebaek said.
"Then let's go." King Uija said while he picked up his sword from where it was stationed and he walked out of the room while his General followed.
Eventually, he halted with a number of his men and he looked at the field in a distance that was so rugged.
There on the horizon he could see a very long line of Shilla soldiers that was stretching from one end to another along with their flags that were flying in the sky so high.
He could see a white rider on a horse in a distance and there he knew that one way or another the person in white possessing the white banner had to be the Queen herself.
"What are we going to do Your Majesty?" General Pocheon asked.
"As long as there is a rider in white she'll command the wrath and the confidence of the Shilla army but should she fall then the enemy shall be demoralised in the end they'll have no choice but to withdraw." King Uija replied.
"So Your Majesty is saying that....?" Honourable Songchung asked.
"Give everyone the order that our Primary target in this mission is the Queen and where she can be captured alive then we'll certainly do so." King Uija replied.
"Yes Your Majesty." The Generals and the Commanders that were present said in unison while the King looked on at the very large Shilla force.
"How I hope that the gods find it in our favour, how I pray that in this war heaven and Victory are both riding on our side!" King Uija exclaimed as he placed his hands on the battlements and bending over he admired the view in the distance there was a smirk on her face.
All the Paekche Generals wete readying themselves withing the walls of the Fortress and General Pocheon gathered the first two thousand soldiers.
"Hear my orders, whatever you do you should make sure that your one and only target for our aggression is the white warrior, regardless what may go down we must take them captive and should resistance be so much then you are free to kill." He said to the soldiers.
"Yes Sir." The soldiers replied as they stood at attention.
"The relief is quite rugged so be careful how you fight." He added.
"Yes Sir." The soldiers replied.
"The first group onward." General Pocheon said and the battallion of two thousand soldiers moved and halted right in front of the gates while they were opened for them and they immediately marched outside as they descended the slopes of the mountain and they settled right into the valley while they readied themselves to face the Shilla army that was still standing at a distance without any reaction at all.
The distance on both sides being very wide they were out of range but either way the archers were ready with their bows and arrows aiming at one another.
The rising sun still taking its time to posses the firmament, they had each positioned each other in one place for the past hour without attacking.
After standing there for a while the Shilla army too dispatched a battallion of about two thousand soldiers as well and they were led by the white warrior as they came closer in the archers's target.
While the Archers of Seolbong Mountain Fortress were watching, there was a fog that slowly descended and it started to cover the place and made it very hard for the Paekcheans to see.
At that moment there were sounds of war drums from the side of Shilla's army and the first battallion of General Pocheon readied itself for impact.
There was a wave of Shilla soldiers that followed underneath the fog and there and then they clashed openly with the Paekcheans their defenses were already drawn into conflict with the enemy.
The white warrior started off viciously as one by one killing the Paekcheans she severed their heads from their bodies while General Pocheon amidst the fog he caught sight of him.
He rode towards her on his steed and while swinging his sword the white warrior heard him drawing near he turned around and swang her mast to knock him off.
General Pocheon jumped into the air while the mast went past him and landing onto his horse he came to cut off the riders head but the rider bent backwards and dodged it while she rode ahead into the circle of Paekcheans while the Shilla soldiers moved towards General Pocheon and surrouned him as well.
The fog being fairly mild started to clear a couple of minutes later turning into a faint veil of air while King Uija and all his other men looking down they caught sight of a very bitter battle taking place already.
While the white warrior was most prominent because of her skills from another side part of the Shilla army seemed to be fighting it's way in to defend her with their every might.
Eventually the King himself noticed the swiftness with which she fought and his men were starting to slowly be outnumbered.
As the Shilla soldiers drew closer and closer, he ordered the archers on the wall to stand by.
They took their aim while the Shilla men advancing with their shields and spears, the King gave the order to fire and the arrows from the walls of Seolbong Mountain Fortress flew towards them.
General Kim Seohyeon who beheld them descending towards them halted with his men and positioning their shields right in front of them, the arrows halted their movements forcefully as the white warrior was fighting her way into the men of Paekche.
Eventually a hundred had surrounded her and with their Spears they descended them down upon her while with the iron mast she guarded against the impact and was forced down onto her knees.
She was not quitting any time soon as she angrily shouted her voice fairly deep at the moment and gathering every bit of strength that she had inside she pushed them all away.
She ceased the foot of her mast and swang it around while it moved about like a spring and it cleared them all with it's sharp head above her white banner.
The Paekcheans fell while General Gyebaek took a bow and an arrow in his hand and he aimed at the white warrior's leg.
Fighting absent mindedly, it was very difficult for The white warrior to notice and by the time the arrow was fired, one of the Shilla soldiers who was nearest caught sight of it and they dived in the target as they were shot in the chest.
The white warrior seemingly realised that another shot was taken for her and turning around she looked as the saw General Gyebaek on the battlements cursing silently.
The Shilla troops of Kim Seohyeon hadn't been held back for long as they joined the strife and at that very moment the white warrior catching sight of General Pocheon who seemingly withdraw slowly by slowly while looking at her she launched herself towards him.
The Paekcheans that were nearby didn't seem to notice with the intensity of the clash from their enemies but a few who did hurled themselves at the white warrior in groups of five, six and a little more while she seemed more and more determined to get to the General she warded them off with her mast.
She ceased it in-between and she attacked the first group as she toppled them and pushed them into their friends, for the second group she ceased it and swang it side to side while she struck their heads and abdomens as she penetrated them and the last one she leaped and broke their spears and bent some of their swords until they had all succumbed to her and they were on the ground as General Pocheon was cornered.
"You won't do anything to me." General Pocheon said and at that moment looking up at the wall, the Paekche archers with a net attached they shot down a very large number of arrows towards the white warrior who withdrawing slightly was still not fast enough to dodge the net and the moment that she was caught all the other Paekche warriors came around while their other fellows put themselves as a barrier against the Shilla soldiers.
"Protect her Majesty." General Kim Seohyeon shouted and at once the Shilla soldiers still went further ahead to attack while the other Paekcheans tying the next they carried the white warrior away as they ascended the slope towards the entrance of the Mountain Fortress.
"Your Majesty, the Queen has been Captured." General Gyebaek said.
"They wouldn't have known and they did not see it coming as well." King Uija boasted proudly as he looked down at all his men getting finished.
"There's too little left at the moment." He remarked.
"What should we do Your Majesty?" General Gyebaek asked.
"Annihilate them all." King Uija said.
"What?" General Gyebaek asked.
"Annihilate them all." King Uija replied.
"But Your Majesty, there are our own men." General Gyebaek said.
"They have staked their lives and if the Shilla troops advance and come any closer then I believe that they shall have died in vain." King Uija remarked.
"They have done their part for their country and for our cause so we should grant them their Honour of dying in battle." King Uija said.
"Yes Your Majesty." General Gyebaek said hesitantly.
"Archers ready." King Uija commanded and they put their arrows into their bows and they aimed at the troops below.
"Fire." The King ordered and at once they let go while the Shilla soldiers below were showered along with the Paekcheans and others scattering to the sides a few held up their shields in defense their attack had halted.
While the Paekchean were coaching for a second time General Kim Seohyeon shouted.
"Call back." He said and the Shilla soldiers a large number still surviving others mildly wounded with their shields the conjured a formation and their defense for the time being felt guaranteed as they withdrew slowly by slowly.
The Paekcheans halted having insufficient weapons while the white warrior still fighting was tied and brought into the Seolbong Mountain Fortress.
"What shall we do with Her Majesty?" General Gyebaek asked.
"Ask everyone to gather." King Uija replied. "With the Shilla King in our hands like it or not they shall yield to our demands." He added.
The attention of most of the Paekcheans was diverted to the White warrior while King Uija descended from the battlements into the courtyard of the Fortress.
There looking at the White warrior who was down on her knees he moved closer while she kept her face looking down onto the ground.
"Your Majesty." He said as he bowed his head while there wasn't a response that was coming from his captive.
The Paekcheans had aimed their spears at her while she didn't move even a single bit but only breathed uneasily.
"This entire Fortress is full of people, my people Your Majesty and not yours and if I could just kill you here I am very certainly that they would feel compensated for what they have lost, their friends and their compeers as well.
However I wish to be more considerate because the Shilla army is nothing without it's leader and Commander in Chief, they can not move without Your Majesty's order and perhaps they wouldn't launch an attack at the moment to guarantee your safety in my hands." King Uija said.
The Paekcheans looked at the Queen who was already sweating profusely though not showing them her face or saying a word it was clear that she was being rather distraught.
"How can I forget the work of His Majesty King Jinheung, a masterpiece of the Shilla history that flawed that of ours and a design that brought you fame while on our side it was disaster and inferiority.
If your Majesty is this short of words aren't you afraid what the History from this point shall spell out, aren't you afraid what the History from this point shall say, or looking back what shall happen to your people and that Shilla that you love?" King Uija asked.
The white warrior broke into a very loud and deep laughter and at that moment everyone was startled while the King moved backwards.
"Remove her helmet." He ordered the soldiers that were nearby and they complied as they lifted it and there was some fairly long hair though only stopping on the shoulders that fell.
Looking at the jawline though clear shaven it was quite muscular and looking at those eyes they were in deed different from the eyes that they had expected.
It was Haesul Rang who was there and some of the soldiers who were expecting to see a woman were rather surprised.
"The Shilla army is nothing without it's leader and Commander in Chief, they can not move without Your Majesty's order and perhaps they wouldn't launch an attack at the moment to guarantee my safety in Your Majesty's hands?" Haesul Rang Said.
"Our Majesty is intelligent, our Majesty is in deed very wise, no one in the land can match up to her prowess and perhaps you underestimated her because she is a woman." Haesul Rang said.
"How smart is she to send you and go into hiding?" King Uija asked.
"Hiding?" Haesul Rang said.
"Of course, had it not been hiding then why did it have to be you taking her place on the battlefield?" King Uija asked.
"Because of Your perception." Haesul Rang replied, "You think that Her Majesty the white warrior is just a female warrior of Shilla but you are wrong." He added.
"Then what is she?" King Uija asked, "A goddess?" He added.
"The White warrior is the ruler of our Heavenly Kingdom, she is the mother of the Hwarang, she is the heart of our warrior's, and she is out goddess of war who with awe she inspires many, with prudence she rewards, with wisdom she reigns and with love she defends us all." Haesul Rang replied.
At that very moment, there were arrows that were shot towards the battlements and the absent minded Paekcheans started falling down while the trouble the King had thought he had overwhelmed erupted amongst his subjects and warriors.
"What's happening?" King Uija asked and one of his Commanders shouted from the top.
"Your Majesty." He said as he pointed in a distance that the King and General Gyebaek hurriedly mounted the stairs and they rushed up to the battlements to see what was going on.
King Uija halted when looked at a distance while there were Shilla Soldiers below the walls that were struggling to climb up the mountain and they were being fought off by some of his men.
Further ahead as his sight stretched he saw a large battallion of Shilla horsemen each of them seated on white steads and wearing white suits of armour while they were each possessing a mast with a white banner on it.
"They're all protecting their Queen." General Gyebaek exclaimed while the King smiled.
"This was her biggest surprise, this was her plan all along." He said.
"What should we do Your Majesty?" General Gyebaek asked.
"Deploy everything that we have and whatever it takes, Seolbong Mountain Fortress must survive in our hands." King Uija replied.
"Your Majesty, such a large scale invasion, you should be escorted to safety." General Gyebaek said.
"When I recall ever since the war started I haven't been with my people and for that they lost, at the moment when I look back at the victory of Naktong River where I lost some of my most capable men I mourn and I am filled with remorse that either I leave here alive or I leave the Queen of Shilla dead." King Uija said.
"Please Your Majesty." General Gyebaek said.
"No." King Uija replied.
Suddenly, a horn was sounded and the war drums started to beat louder and louder while the line at the horizon of white warriors planted their masts into the ground and leaving them begin they charged with full force towards the walls of Seolbong Mountain Fortress.
King Uija and his surviving archers positioned themselves readily as they aimed at the Shilla soldiers who not slowing down rode towards them.
The moment that they were in a very close range, King Uija gave the order and immediately, the archers fired their arrows they went at the Shilla Soldiers spreading out widely like a thick dark sheet in the sky.
The rider and the forefront raising his hands up all the others started to move behind him eventually, they formed a single line as the Arrows of the Paekcheans landed on their sides they ignored most of the Narrow strip of Shilla soldiers who persisted in the formation of one very long serpentine as they moved through the small valleys as they got closer and closer to the other platform where the land was relatively flat.
King Uija ordered the archers to be on standby again and all of them aimed at the center where the Shilla Soldiers were and they shot at them eventually the white warriors scattered about and they broke the formation while they dodged the Arrows.
They too pulled out their bows and arrows when in a very close range and then aiming at the Paekchean archers on the walls they shot at them as they spread out and slowly, they started to surround the Mountain.
All of a sudden, the guards as the back wall of the Fortress were shot down while another section of Shilla Soldiers emerged from the nearby trees and with a couple of battering Rams, they started to strike the backdoors of the Fortress while the archers who would have helped them defend were shot down the Shilla Soldiers were putting their ladders in place and they were climbing the walls.
King Uija in a distance he looked as the rest of the Shilla army advanced from the horizon and there he saw a rider on a white horse except that at that time, she was dressed in a golden suit of armor and so was her stead and others around her carrying white masts the closest was Sangdaedeung Alcheon who was carrying the flag of Shilla.
The Queen with her bow and arrow she aimed at him while himself with his own he aimed at her as well at that point certain that she was the one that he was looking for.
The two of them released their arrows for Queen Jindeok hers flying much faster that General Gyebaek leaping onto the King to save his head he was unable to save the King's left hand from being shot.
The King cried out loud white Queen Jindeok was also struck at her left chest but because of her suit of armor the arrow didn't go deep it only left a small cut and fell off on its own.
The King looked at the Queen while from each and every direction the Shilla Soldiers had already entered the Fortress and the Paekcheans being slain all he could do was to curse the Queen when he recalled the very words that she had said to him.
"Because I love Shilla so much, I can not share it, because I can not share it I shall choose to fight for it to the very last breath of mine, even if I have to see Sabi rising to smoke and Paekche burning to ashes, I will do whatever it takes for it." They lingered in his head while the Queen taking another arrow she aimed at him but at that time there were other Paekcheans that covered up for the King while he was being carried away from the battlements.
Queen Jindeok drawing her sword she pointed at the Fortress.
"Onward." She ordered and immediately the Shilla soldiers made their ascension of the mountain.
Yushin Rang and the others that were already inside slew the Paekcheans while Haesul Rang breaking himself free from the ropes that had bound him he once again joined the attack as well.
"Your Majesty." General Gyebaek said as they carried the King and put him in a Palanquin where a large number of Paekche Soldiers surrouned him.
"What's this?" King Uija asked.
"Please cease Your Majesty." General Gyebaek said, "I just happened to prepare for the worst case scenario." He added.
"From the very beginning you were taking cautions." King Uija said.
"Your life is all that matters Your Majesty and you must survive for Paekche to live on as well." General Gyebaek said.
"What about you?" King Uija asked.
"I am coming with Your Majesty because I swore to protect you and this time that Shilla herself is too strong we have been taken by surprise and suffered very great losses I shouldn't be holding Your Majesty back." General Gyebaek said.
"Why?" King Uija asked.
"Seolbong Mountain Fortress is bound to fall and we are much too weak, however with our lives we are going to escort Your Majesty back to Sabi even if it's the last thing that we'll ever do." General Gyebaek said as he closed the King's Palanquin and then he looked at all the other soldiers.
"We penetrate the Back gate at full force." General Gyebaek said.
"Yes Your Excellency." The Paekche Soldiers replied as they bowed their heads.
Yushin Rang and all the others positioned themselves right in front of the gates when the last Paekche battalion emerged from the back of the castle and carrying with themselves a small Palanquin they charged towards his defense.
"Regardless of the situation, don't let the Palanquin out of the Fortress." Yushin Rang said while the gates of the Fortress were closed and a large number of Shilla soldiers blocked the path a few others positioned themselves at the battlements and they aimed at the Paekcheans with their arrows on fire.
They shot them down one by one while the armies collided in a very stiff combat with one another.
Yushin Rang mage his way through the Paekcheans who laid themselves in front of him and tried all that they could to hinder his further advancement towards the Palanquin however, their success was mild as it took him about fifteen minutes to slay every last one of the Paekcheans that were hindering him as he eventually kicked through the door only to pull out his leg he realised that the Palanquin was empty.
General Gyebaek and a few other Generals had already escaped through another exit and with themselves there was another army that had disguised themselves as Shilla soldiers that was accompanying them.
Just as they were continuing down the mountain through a very secret passage they saw the Queen who was blocking the path alone on her horse that eventually they halted in their steps and General Gyebaek ordered the archers to come up to the front they aimed at the rider.
The Queen confidently took off her helmet and she looked at the Generals while they seemed to be afraid of her.
Between them there was a path that was very clear and while the Queen herself looked at them she didn't seem to be bothered by their presence.
"You can as well shoot me dead." Queen Jindeok said.
"You have already died." General Gyebaek said.
"But at last the glory of Shilla is manifest as your return to Sabi shall be my own mercy." Queen Jindeok said.
"You already knew that we would come through this way." General Gyebaek said.
"Except that I brought myself to you alone without an army so that I too could see you off.
The doors of the Palanquin were opened and King Uija looked at the Queen.
"Too bad you couldn't kill me." He said.
"I'm more comfortable with you living with the fact that in the annals of History it shall one time be known that this woman before you defeated you.
I want you to live to ride down the streets of Sabi with shame, I want Shilla to not only be feared by your people but to also be worshipped as well." Queen Jindeok said.
"How malicious of Your Majesty!" King Uija said.
"Ally political life I have done nothing more than taking precautions, I have schemed and defeated my enemies time and again, I have slain ten thousands and I have captivated many, I am worshipped and I am feared whereas at the same time loved and cherished." Queen Jindeok said.
"Your political acumen is remarkable." King Uija said.
"I am most comfortable that in history there will never be another Woman like me and I am much more glad that my tenure has seen the success that your long reign couldn't boast for Generations to come.
Even if the world tried to silence me from the minds of the people my voice and my greatness shall resound eternally in their hearts." Queen Jindeok said as she smiled at the King.
She put on her helmet once again and turning around, she rode off in her horse while she made a silent exit the King and all the other soldiers where they were they looked at her.
"Let's go." General Gyebaek said as he continued to lead the troops away while they too departed from sight.
Queen Jindeok walked up to the top of the battlements and there she stood and looked at the land in a distance.
Sangdaedeung Alcheon and Yushin Rang walked up to her side.
"Your Majesty." They said as they bowed their heads.
"Shilla had prevailed." Queen Jindeok said.
"Sadly, His Majesty the King of Paekche has fled." Yushin Rang replied.
"Really?" Queen Jindeok Asked.
"Yes." Yushin Rang replied.
"Who can survive the watchful eye of Yushin Rang?" Queen Jindeok asked.
"You overestimate me Your Majesty, I am not that perfect." Yushin Rang said.
"Enough." Queen Jindeok said as she closed her eyes and she inhaled the smooth air.
"At last the land that King Jinheung conquered for us is here again, what was lost for Shilla I have returned and all that the enemy had to boast about I have taken." Queen Jindeok said.
"Your Majesty, you are very great." Yushin Rang said.
"We must return to Seoraebeol." Queen Jindeok said and we shall share the good news with everyone else." Queen Jindeok said.
"Yes Your Majesty." They all replied in unison.
The Queen walked down the aisle that led to the throne while she was dressed to her very best and looking smart and regal she mounted the stairs that led to it and there she sat down as she ceased it's arms and she smiled.
She closed her eyes slowly and at that moment, there were pictures that came into her mind.
"Your Majesty." Boyeong had Said to her.
"What is it?" Queen Jindeok asked.
"The cut might have been small but the arrow itself was poisoned we can neutralize it but only for a while." Boyeong replied.
"Is that what the doctor said?" Queen Jindeok asked.
"Yes Your Majesty." Boyeong said in tears, "I am afraid that this is the last radiance of the setting sun." she'd added.
The Queen opening her eyes, Kim Chunchu and Kim Yushin had walked into her presence and they bowed their heads to her.
"Your Majesty." They said in unison while she smiled at them.
"Where is Alcheon Rang?" Queen Jindeok asked.
"His Excellency is still a little bit far." Yushin Rang replied.
"Do you know why I have called you here?" Queen Jindeok asked.
"No Your Majesty." Yushin Rang replied.
"Because regardless of what happens today I have decided that I shall place Shilla in your hands from this day onwards." Queen Jindeok said.
"Your Majesty." Kim Chunchu said.
"Chunchu, I always loved to teach you and nurture you but too bad that I won't be there to play one last game of chess with you." Queen Jindeok said.
"Your Majesty, the enemy has been defeated but why are you speaking like this?" Kim Yushin asked.
"This is the reality of life." Queen Jindeok Said as she looked at them both and her eyes were teary at that moment, "Life is a game everyone must lose because as it is we must all die, what makes it different from other games is success isn't measured in how far you go but in the value of which one of your dreams and goals you have achieved." Queen Jindeok said.
"Before you I was an ordinary woman and on top of that a Princess that was growing up as a warrior, the only way that I could christen myself for Victory was through burying each one of my enemies until at last even I was bound to join them in the very end." Queen Jindeok said.
"I loved this Shilla of mine and I had it right at the bottom of my heart, I did everything that I could to protect it but that alone was not enough for me I eventually had to rule it to be content.
The South burned with war whereas the North was shattered with so much chaos, I figured out that perhaps all I needed was to make it more peaceful but I fear that I will never see Sabi bowing down it's head and turning to Seoraebeol for refuge and to also give it Worship." Queen Jindeok, "but what hurts me much more than that is the fact that no one might remember the people I have buried and those that have died for me starting from my very own fathers.
My mom who raised me shall die a lone old woman and Cheonmyeong who was like a sister shall be the elder of this cold and cruel Palace that constituted our coldest wars and rivalries and was home to the failed coups and the success of the Hallowed bone with which I am going to carry to the tomb." Queen Jindeok said.
"Your Majesty, I understand what you want, the future Generations shall praise your warrior nature and at last you have defeated the female Ruler Jin in the Prophecy." Kim Chunchu said.
"No." Queen Jindeok replied, "My success made me merciless that I wasn't as gracious as I was thought to be and pure as well I wish none of this is made known to the world so that it dies with us all." Queen Jindeok said.
"What are you saying Your Majesty, this could besmirch you of everything that you have worked for your entire life." Kim Yushin said.
"As long as I can be content in the very end that they knew a Great Female King existed, I want the future Generations to reflect on me so that when they see the legacy I left behind." Queen Jindeok replied.
"Your Majesty, please reconsider." Kim Chunchu said.
"Chunchu, I believe that I have made up my mind and there is not much that can be changed at the moment." Queen Jindeok said, "For me could you tell, what has been the magnificence of life, is it power? devotion? the latter a preference and the former a luxury too precious, all in all a combination too cumbersome whose prosperity in the eyes of men is much too vexatious." she added.
"Your Majesty." Yushin Rang said.
"Enough, my time is at hand, don't cry for me but instead cry for the people of Shilla, cry for her children, her widowed wives and widower husbands." Queen Jindeok said.
"You mothered for Shilla a golden age." Kim Chunchu said.
"Perhaps." Queen Jindeok said, "There's nothing to sweet about the throne, only loneliness and heartache for men naturally bearable and us women much too breaking." She added.
"But you have endured it all Your Majesty, you have truimphed over the whole world." Kim Yushin said.
"In the end I won over the world and I lost myself. What have I gained from life when I have lost so much more, the Crown I have borne on my brow has taken from me much more than it has ever given and the peace of Shilla came at a price much too heavy?" Queen Jindeok said as she smiled at them.
"But we are so proud that we have had you here." Kim Chunchu said.
"Peace itself wasn't an assurance for me to give and death it was that I rewarded with prudence to all Shilla's enemies until now." Queen Jindeok said as she reclined in her seat.
"All were cast aside and a few remained devoted, but what more shall the children of Samhan lack in this life, certainly not the wealth of nations and also prestige and power, not the finest horses and buildings as well as beautiful women and peeresses to call their own.
When all that there is in their abundance to be possesed they could perhaps relinquish the fruit and sweat of hard work and enjoy the fame their names will bring them yet still I dread one thing more than anything else and that is that they'll forget that the one who gave it all to them was an ordinary Princess and a very strong woman." Queen Jindeok said as she coughed a little bit.
"I am tired and I hope that Alcheon Rang isn't that far, the Great Hallowed bone that was born from Bak Hyeokgyeose shall end with me. All my life the eight years that I spent as the King were the loneliest, except for hate, anger, wisdom, power, foes and allies, I had nothing more to cherish and call my own." Queen Jindeok said as she closed her eyes right when Sangdaedeung Alcheon walked into the throne room and looking at the throne ahead of him he broke down and he cried bitterly as he walked slowly to the front while he recalled everything that he'd been through with Her Majesty.
She was seated in all her Royal splendour, she looked like a goddess whose face was shining.
Sangdaedeung Alcheon where he was he fell onto his knees and then looked up at her.
"All your life you have been alone, why must you be in death, I willed that I support Chunchu to inherit the throne and came so fast to tell you but it's a pity there's no more that is left.
You gave me so much more than I could ever have and have me a purpose in life to protect and a name in history as well as compassion and love, I am too old to reign and there is nothing much more interesting about life." Sangdaedeung Alcheon said.
"Alcheon." Yushin Rang called while Alcheon raised his hands up to the sky.
"I felt that something like this would happen and how could I love, if not Shilla I had you to cherish but perhaps to my parents I was too filial in the end even I couldn't stand by your side in life then at least in death let me make up for it." He said as he bit at the poison that was under his teeth and taking it in he fell down onto the ground backwards while Yushin Rang hurried to his side and he supported him.
"Alcheon Rang?" He called as he shook him but Alcheon only raised his hand out to the Queen who with the last bit of life sipping out of her body, she let go of the arms of the throne and rested their in eternal peace while her lover immediately followed.
Kim Chunchu still frozen looked at the Great Queen seated right in front of him and all that he did was to bow down his head and kowtow three times while he looked back at her.
"Thank you Your Majesty, to the very end, you entrusted this our Heavenly Kingdom of Shilla to me Kim Chunchu." He thought to himself as he gazed on to his predeccessor somberly while she had the most solemn appearance before him.
