(ch.19)

When she opened the door, she saw her pale, unwell brother standing there with a worried face looking at her with Zhe and Xaing beside him. She hid by getting out of the door frame, just then she heard her brother shout "Qing Chin, come over here," Lai yelled. Bojing grabs her and went into the apartment.

She looked at them with a nervous smile and said "Brother Lai, what do you want from me," in a nervous tone.

"Where have you been all night!? You know how worried I was," He yelled in a furious voice as they stood up.

Bojing interrupted "She was at my place since it startled to rain and my apartment was that closest so I thought I'll let her stay at my place-" in an apologetic tone. then Lai said "Bojing, don't interfere. I want to hear it from Chin, not you," in an upset tone.

Chin answered "Like what he said, it was raining so he took me to his place, he told me that I could leave after it stops raining, and don't worry we didn't do anything bad if you're thinking about that. I know what you're going to ask, my phone died and I didn't bring my portable charger so that why I didn't call or text you and why my location was off. You guys are probably thinking why I'm wearing his clothes, it's because my clothes were all wet so he had me change before I get sick," in an assured tone as she just stood there.

Xaing, Zhe, and Lai just breathe a sigh of relief, Xaing commented "Chin, you have no clue how worried he was-" Lai stopped him before he could say anything else.

Bojing bumps her, she looks at him, he mouthed "Apologize to your bother", they ended up bickering. Xaing said "You guys, stop bickering and spill it," in a serious tone as they stopped bickering. Bojing noted "I'm sorry that I took Chin to my place, causing you guys to worry," in an apologetic tone.

"I know you guys probably waited for me over an hour, and you guys got really worried because I wasn't answering my phone. I'm sorry for making you guys worry about me, especially you, brother Lai," Chin said in a guilty voice as Bojing and her bow, 90 degrees.

Lai hugged her and whispered "As long as you're okay," in a calm tone as Xaing and Zhe was looking at Bojing as he was doing the same. Chin hugged him back, then his body turned into jelly, Chin said "Lai, are you okay? Can you stop putting all your weight on me," in a nervous tone as she pats him. When Bojing looked at her, he said "Omg, I think he fainted," in a shocked tone as he helps hold Lai, then Xaing and Zhe quickly went to them.

Xaing said "Not again," as they lightly tap him, after a few minutes, Lai woke up and asked "Did I faint again," in a calm tone as he got up, they all nodded.

Zhe told him "Lai, you should be resting since you have a fever and you didn't sleep at all last night. Come on, let's get you back to bed," in a calm tone as Lai agreed. Lai said goodbye to Bojing then they went to their room, Xaing said "Tsk, tsk, you guys have been together lately, you guys are hiding something," in an assured tone as they had a nervous look. "I should be going, bye Chin and Xaing," Bojing blurted, then he left. Before she left, she commented "Bojing and I are only friends, we're probably not even close to friends. It's just that we just keep meeting everywhere," in a nervous tone, then ran away.

Chin on her computer doing a bit on Mr. Tudi and his company, turns out his daughter was kidnapped before he got rich. His life was kinda sad, his parents die in a car crash when he was 19, got married when he was 22 to a coworker, then his wife died due to a complicated delivery, then after a few days, his daughter was kidnapped. While searching for his baby, he started a business, soon his business went up. She made a plan to talk with Mr. Tudi, but then she heard Zhe note "Chin, make sure you take care of your brother while we're gone. Make sure to give him medicine and call us if anything happens," in a cautionary voice. Chin came out of her room and nodded, then they left.

She went to check on her brother, he was just sitting in bed on his laptop. She jumped on his bed, she asked "Bother, what are you doing? You should be resting," in a worried voice.

He answered "I'm looking at places for us to live in since Yu is coming back soon," in a calm tone.

"Did you find a few places?"

Lai nodded, "Yeah, but they're far from your school, so you'll have to change school."

Chin whined "Brother, I don't want to move away from Jia Li and Mei Zhen," in a troubled tone.

"I know, but I can't any place that is close to here that is in good condition. You might have to change school, if you change school, you come here whenever you want."

She looks at her brother, "Really? But I don't want to make new friends, I'm happy with the friends I already have," in a gloomy tone as she hugs him.

He hugs her as he marked "I know, but we can't stay with Xaing and Yu forever."

"I know. Do you know which I would have to go if I had to change school?"

"I think it's called Pearl Academy, it's a private school," he replied.

Chin frown and asked, "Does that mean there's going to be rich kids?"

Lai responded, "Probably, just don't bother them." Chin nodded. "Ok, go back to your room, I have things to do," as he pus her off of him.

Chin pouts and said "Fine," then she left. She went to the kitchen to make Lai's favorite soup. Chin had a call from her chat. "Why are you guys calling," she asked in a calm tone, putting her phone on speaker.

"Geez~ Chin, we just wanted to call to see if you're ok. Da-Chung called and told us that your brother said that you went missing last night. Where did you go?" Mei Zhen said.

Chin answered, "I went over to an acquaintance's place for the night since it was raining really bad and my phone died."

"You had us worried, but it's good that your ok," Da-Chung noted.

"Do you guys want to go out or something?" Mei Zhen asked.

Da-Chung answered "Sorry, but my parents told me that I can't go out today," in an apologetic voice.

Chin added "I can't since my brother is sick because of me," in a guilty tone.

"Me too, I have errands to run today with my mom," Jia Li also added. "Jia Li, are you ready? We also have some shopping to do," her mom shouted. "Ok, bye," then she left.

"Da-Chung, the baby is kicking. You want to feel," they could hear her yell, she left the call.

"Chin, I think I'm going to leave too. I have to go babysit my siblings, bye," Mei Zhen said.

She shouted "Bye!!" then the call ended. Once she was done, she gave her brother the soup and said "Here, I made your favorite soup."

Lai smiled "Aww, thanks," in a grateful voice as he took the soup.

"No prob, I'm going to my room now," then she left. Around 1 pm, Chin heard noises coming outside of her room. She saw her brother getting ready, "Brother, where are you going? You're supposed to be in bed," in a confused voice.

He answered "I have to go to an important event to go to. I feel a little better plus this is important," in a serious tone without looking at her even once.

She hinted "Why? What's so important about this event? Please brother, I'm worried about you." in a pleasing voice.

"Chin, this is important." he slightly shouted.

"What if some thing happens?" she marked in a worried tone. Chin grabs his arm and suggested "If you want to go that bad, I have to come too. Just tell me what the dress code is," in a serious voice.

Lai sighed and muter "Fine, you have to dress formal."

Chin made puppy eyes and added "Lai, can we go buy me a dress? I don't have a formal dress," in a hesitant voice.

Lai frowned, "Fine, come on. We have to be there by 5 pm," as he grabbed a towel and went into the bathroom. Chin got frustrated as she went into her room to grab a towel and ran into Xaing and Yu's room, but before she enter, she mumbled "Sorry for going into your room, but I'm in a rush."

After two hours, they wear finally ready. Lai was in a dark gray suit with his hair side part with some texture. Chin only had her hair done, a loosely pinned boho chic with small flowers place in her hair. Lai asked, "Why don't you have your make done?"

"Because I don't know how my dress looks like, so I'm waiting to see how my dress is like before I do my makeup. Anyways, let's get going since we have 2 hours" in a serious tone as she walked out with a bag and flip-flops.

Once they got into the store, a lady came to help them, "Good afternoon, what are you guys looking for today?" in a cheerful voice.

Lai answered, "Um, please just look for something formal for my sister to wear, we have an event going on and we have to be there a 5."

"Yes, sir. Sir, you can just sit here while I go help your sister go pick a few dresses," she explained as she showed him a seat, then took Chin in the back.

Chin came back, she beamed "Brother, how do I look?" When Lai looked, he saw her in a purple, sleeveless, plants designs on the top, a fuffy with ruffles on the bottom, knee-length dress. He replied, "Um, it's pretty but it just doesn't fit right for some reason. Do you like it?"

Chin looks at herself before she answered, "I don't like it, the design of the plants doesn't look too pretty and it doesn't describe me," in a calm voice.

"Go look for another one then," he marked, the worker and Chin left. After a few minutes, "What about this one?" she asked as her brother looks up from his phone. There she was in a kinda dark blue with glittery designs and a semi-sheer ruffle shoulder cape. "You look pretty but it doesn't go with your hair." Chin nodded as she went back to change her dress.

She re-entered with light blue, short off-the-shoulder sleeves, with flowers all over the top as the vives of the flowers go down the dress. "What about this one?" she asked in a calm voice.

Lai smile and shared "You look beautiful and it goes with your hair, but you don't have shoes that match."

The lady interfered "We have some shoes that might match if you guys want to look," in a calm tone as she gave an interesting look.

"Sure, bring them all here," he marked as he got up as the worker left. "Chin, I should get some photos before the event starts," she shyly smiled. Lai saw Chin's smile slowly fade as she looks behind her brother when he turned, he saw a crowd of girls that he assumed is his fans. Many of them were taking pictures of them in the shop, Chin tried to cover her face as the staff got things to cover the windows. Chin asked, "Why were they taking pictures of us?"

Lai answered "That's part of being famous, now you might be the next gossip since they picture of you," in a calm voice as he sat down. Chin just sighed as the worker came back with a few boxes. She put them on the ground as she grabbed the first box, she said "Try these first," as she opened the box. It was a pair of light blue pointed high heels.

After she put them on, Lai marked "They're missing something." She looks in the mirror and agreed. The lady put the pair away and grabbed the next box. In the box, there was a pair of light blue strapped block heels. "I don't like it," Chin marked as she was looking at herself.

The lady grabbed another box when she opened the box, Chin's kinda glittered. They were a pair of light blue round-toe high heels with floral print. "Brother, I think they good enough with my dress," in an ecstatic voice.

Lai smiled as he gently said, "Then it shall be those, now come on let's go pay." They went to pay, as they were paying, Lai marked "Please put her clothes and shoes in a bag. The worker obliged and asked, "Will you guys like the matching color wristlet?" Chin nodded, so the lady got the wristlet. She said, "You're for today total is $280." Lai scans his QR code.

He hinted "Grab the bag and come on," in a calm voice as he has back to his car as she follows behind.

She asked "Brother, sorry for making you spend so much on me," in an apologetic voice.

Lai smiled and assured "It's fine. You look really pretty and happy. We're going to the event, so you better start doing your makeup." Chin nodded as he drove off. When they got to the parking lot of the event, Lai asked "Are you almost done with your makeup?" as he turn off the car.

Chin mumbles "Almost," as she continues applying her makeup. After a few minutes, "Done. What do you think?" Chin asked just as she put all of her makeup away.

As soon as he saw her makeup, his eyes shimmer, he screamed "You're so beautiful! Where have you been hiding this dazzling side of you?" to his sister. Her look was a brown on her outer and upper crease, gold on her half crease, a little bit of shiny white on her inner corners, brown and gold under her lower lash line, slightly dark green contacts, bit contour, blush, and natural pink lipstick. He asked "Chin, are you wearing foundation?"

She shook her head, "No, why? Do look bad without it?"

He smile and marked "No, it's just that your face is so clear that it looks like you're wearing foundation," in an amazed voice.

Chin smiled as she puts her hand on her cheek, "Thanks, brother. I've been trying really hard for clear skin," in a grateful voice. She added "Anyways we should be going in," as she opened her door. Lai agreed and got out of the car.
