45. Relief

''Come on. Normally you aren't so weak. Why are your spirits so down now.'' Unconsciously, Qi Longwei's voice and tone had both become soft and gentle. He sounded like he was coaxing a small child as his right hand rubbed her head.

Li Zhilan's head was one of her weak spots. When someone touched her head, it made her feel relaxed and could calm her down by a lot. This point was something her besties and family made use of when she couldn't sleep or when she had such moments, which was in fact very rare. With how loved and protected she is, she never cried much as no one would let her not even when she was a baby. As soon as her face crunched everyone would do anything just to make her smile. It was a miracle that she didn't turn into a spoiled princess with how she was brought up.

When Li Zhilan didn't raise her eyes at all even after all the coaxing, Qi Longwei placed his head on the table right infront of her and looked back up. What he saw made his heart clench and a sad kinda feeling rose in him.

The eyes which were always bright and beautiful was now red and puffed. The usually ocean like eyes were now literally flowing with tears. The twinkles which were normally present was now due to light reflecting from her tears.

Her cheeks were flushed red due to crying as well as being covered with her arms. Even her nose were red on the tip. Her overall look could provoke pitty even in the coldest hearts.

Qi Longwei raised his hand and wiped the tear that was still flowing down. After that he reached inside his pocket and brought out the locket Li Zhilan has lost. When he dangles it infront of Li Zhilan's eyes, she grabbed his wrist within a split second and more tears fell down her face. But this time there was relief and happiness evident in her eyes as well as her lips which was pulled in a smile.

Holding the locket with both her hands, Li Zhilan placed it on her chest and cried out of relief. As Qi Longwei watched Li Zhilan crying her eyes out, he pulled her to his chest and patted her back as well as her head. In the classroom, the only sound was Li Zhilan's sniveling and Qi Longwei's soft 'shh..' and 'It's okay now's.
