148. Once in a blue moon opportunity

After everyone calmed down, host Pei smiled slyly and teased Wang Lei. ''Movie king Lei, I didn't know your fans were so supportive of you. What a unique fan base. Almost as unique as The Guardians.''

''Host Lei, please don't joke around. Us Guardians aren't so easily replicated.'' Wang Lei's eyes were stern and full of seriousness that even host Pei felt intimidated.

These Guardians were really one of a kind. They were really protective of their idols. Calling them the most dangerous fanbase wasn't a mistake. They were the literal defination of the phrase, 'The calm before the storm.'

Feeling scared that his words might just wake up the sleeping dragon, host Pei quickly gave out a slightly awkward laughter.

''Movie king Lei, you misunderstood me. What I meant was that your fanbase also has a hint of the Guardians in them. That's all. I didn't intend to say that the Guardians could be copied.''

''Ah... so that's what it is. Sorry for that. I thought you were trying to compare us Guardians with just any fanbase.''

What could the rest say?

The fanbase he was insulting wasn't anyone else's but his own. He could be considered as the first actor to denounce his own fans infront of everyone, Live.

''Movie King Lei, are you also a Guardian?''

As soon as those words left host Pei's mouth, a proud smile bloomed on Wang Lei's face.

''Isn't that a given?''

That one sentence spoke a volume of words.

He was only showing just how proud he was of being part of the Guardians on behalf of every other Guardians out there.

With just that one sentence, another round of cheers started. It was just that this time, it wasn't just Wang Lei's fans. Almost everyone who were gathered were cheering at the top of their voice. This consisted of not only those gathered there as audiences. Those few on the stage also cheered showing just how proud they were of that reply, of being part of the greatest fanbase, The Guardians, of the greatest band, THE MASK.

That showed just how influential THE MASK is. Their range wasn't just among themselves. Their range was as far as being in other fanbase.

It was estimated that more than half of every fanbase was constituted of the Guardians. Needless to say, most idols were also like Wang Lei, a Guardian. That was their range of influence.

...

In a brightly lit room which was most probably a living room, sat two people opposite eachother. The atmosphere was tense as if some very serious discussion was going on. Both their faces were fully focused and serious.

''Aren't you my manager? How can you be so calm and casual when today is the day my first movie is officially going to be released? Don't you think you should consider this a little bit more seriously?'' Li Zhilan said in all seriousness as she stared at Xavier who was sitting infront of her.

Today, the movie was finally going to be shown country wide. After months of hardwork, today could be considered as the day they would be rated seriously. They would know whether they would be rewarded according to their hardwork or not. Today was the big day after all.

''This isn't your first movie. It's your second. And by the way, I signed you and Ash so that I can have some free time for myself. Do I even need to worry about you guys. If I really need to worry, it would be about that dumb Ash. With how everyone is so overprotective of you, I'm sure that even if the movie actually flops which is impossible, those people will spend so much that it would be termed as another blockbuster. So, Miss Kuan, you are totally out my list.''

With that said, Xavier threw a card and and said, ''Yes!''

At the end of the day, what seemed to be a serious discussion happened to be small talks while playing a card game.

''Damn, that's not fair. I'm sure you cheated.'' Li Zhilan said as she threw the cards in her hand. This was the third time in a row that she had lost.

''Enough of this now. I'm hungry. Let's go eat.'' Li Zhilan stood up and walked towards the door while Xavier helplessly followed. Ofcourse not silently. He was infact giggling and making fun of Li Zhilan.

''What? After loosing so many rounds, are you now hungry? Well, it's understandable considering the number of rounds you lost. Even if it were me, I would be too 'hungry' to play anymore. Hahaha-"

''Xavier Harris, you dare make fun of me? Do you believe me when I say that I can make your pocket money disappear with a puff?" The slight smile on the corners of her mouth made her look senister but playful and arrogant at the same time.

That smile clearly stated, 'Come, try me if you dare. Let me see you fall on your knees.'

She clearly looked like a fairy that descended from the heaven but the aura she gave out was of a devil from the depths of hell.

Xavier couldn't help but want to cry at the moment. He clearly had this once in a blue moon opportunity to taunt Li Zhilan but why was he so afraid to do that? He clearly knows that she won't really do anything to him but that aura, he really wanted to cry.
