Chapter Three

"Oh my, it's my mom. I wonder why she was calling" Jade said thoughtfully as she stopped the bike in front of the Coker's mansion and Zara alighted from the bike and remove her helmet.

"You should call her back, may be it's important." Zara said as she handed her helmet to Jade. Jade said nothing and bit her lips as she dialled her mother's number.

"Why were you not picking my calls?" came the sonorous voice of a woman as the call was picked, you can never tell it was the powerful voice that have put many people in jail and acquitted some.

"I just saw your missed calls right now, mommy and I was riding when you called." Jade said calmly, and politely. Her mom always have that appeal that requires respect and Jade usually gives her the respect she is entitled to.

"Okay, get yourself to the firm right away I've got work for you to do."

"Okay ma, I will be there in thirty minutes tops." Jade said and her mother cuts the call after hearing that. Jade squirmed and Zara smiled.

"Are you seriously laughing at me right now because I squirmed?" Jade asked and Zara replies.

"Do I look like I'm laughing? I was smiling girl friend and there is a difference between laughing and smiling."

"You don't need to sound defensive, just tell me why you were smiling."

"I was just wondering how you get on well with your mommy." Zara said mimicking the way Jade said mommy.

"Oh! My God I thought the chapter about mothers is closed?" Jade asked.

"Oh yes, it has, go to the firm, mommy is waiting for you." Zara said and laughed out loud as Jade rode off.

Zara walked into the mansion still smiling, she was half way to the stairs when a maid appeared.

"Excuse me Miss, your mother said, I should inform you when you get home to see her." The maid said.

"Okay, where is she?" Zara asked.

"She was the in Jacuzzi when I saw her last, maybe she is still there." The maid said with head bowed.

"Okay, here is my bag take it to my room for me," Zara handed her bag to the maid, who curtsied and excuse herself from Zara.

Zara walked towards the Jacuzzi she knew her mother will probably still be there. Zara breath in heavily, she knows her mother well but no one knows what always goes on in her mind, she made a short prayer before opening the door. As she thought, her mother was still in the Jacuzzi having a nice time in the water with a bottle and glass of red wine on a table.

"Good day mum, I can see you are having a good time," Zara said.

"Oh yes, I am, I will take care of myself and my body. You know me well, being an ex model, I really need to maintain my body structure and beauty." What a mother, all she knows is her beauty and her body structure, Zara thought.

"Oh yes, mum you need to still keep your face and beauty, you are always in vogue the young models want to be like you and surprisingly your pictures are always in many beauty magazines."

"It will be fun if you take modelling and appear in magazines so that I'll never be forgotten." "Is that why you wanted to see me? Mum you_"

"No, I wanted to tell you that, we have been invited to the welcome party of Mr. Best's son." Zara was still standing the way she was when she came in.

"And will you please find a place to sit, I'm talking to my daughter and not a maid," Mrs. Coker said as she noticed Zara was still standing. Looking for the nearest sofa and making herself comfortable, Zara sat down and said.

"I'm now seated." Mrs. Coker helped herself out of the Jacuzzi as water dripped from her hair down to her bikini she took a towel and wrapped it around herself. Mrs. Coker sighed as she sat on a chair.

"Hmmn, get a cup and have some wine," she ushered.

"No, thank you mom but I think I'm okay," Zara said after being pissed.

"I won't take much of your time. Mr. Best's party is scheduled for the weekend and as an honourable family, Mr. Best sent an invitation, you know Mr. Best, right?" Mrs. Coker asked. "I'm sorry but I don't." Zara replied.

"You must know him he is an international business who, who runs an automobile company my dear, and do you know how much he is worth? Good God, I just envy the girl that will be lucky enough to marry his son, gosh! She will be in money."

"Mom if you don't have anything much to say, can I leave now?" Zara stood up annoyed.

"Sit down young lady! Where have your manners run to?" Mrs. Coker asked angrily and Zara sat back.

"I'm sorry, mom, I forgot my manners, what is my assignment for this party?" Zara asked, knowing well that is the question her mother wants to hear.

"Your dad said, Mr. Best will be a great investor in the company and you should try to make him invest in our company."

"In the party? Is that really necessary?"

"Yes, it is, at least you should be able get an appointment at the party. Do you think the money we have is enough? No! We need more money and investors to invest to keep the company afloat." Mrs. Coker said greedily.

"Okay mom, I'll try my best and work on that, so, can I take my leave now?" Zara asked politely. "Yes, sure you can and please, your best should be worth it." Mrs. Coker said and Zara stood up and quietly walked out.
