Chapter Seven

As they finished with Tiara, Zara and Jade drove to Shoprite which was a kilometre away from Tiara's contour. They both walked to the clothing section of Shoprite. Zara browsed the store for anything that can attract her while Jade quickly proceeds to where the suits section is. Jade shopped for so many suits while Zara kept on looking. The only thing that attracted Zara's attention where the veils which were hung in rows. Zara picked five different veils with different colours and also a scarf. They both paid for what they bought and took their bagged items to the car.

On their way going home, Jade asked Zara what she bought.

"What did you buy? Is a sexy lingerie come on, tell me."

"Just veils and a scarf." Zara said.

"Just a scarf and veils?" Jade said flabbergastedly.

"If I may ask, what are the veils for?" Jade asked curiously and Zara smirked.

"Have you forgotten my dad is a Muslim and as a daughter of his and as my name implies I'm also a Muslim. I'm suppose to cover my head with a veil or scarf but I do not because my parents do not care."

"I don't think so, I think it because we are in the twenty first century and people in the twenty first century, do not care." Jade said.

"Call it whatever you think but I just have this wants for veils and funnily I feel putting on veils gives a unique allure." Zara stresses.

"Okay, I rest my case." Jade gave up.

Zara turned and looked at her then she smiled. The rest of their journey back home was quiet only for the time Jade will make small jokes and they will both laugh.

As they got back to the Coker's home, the maids assisted Zara and Jade in taking what they bought to Zara's room.

"Oh God I forgot to tell you something important." Jade said as they were in Zara's room alone.

"And what could that be?"

"It is Sandra, hope you remember her? The one that works for my mother, or better still my mommy's assistant who came top as well as I in the Bar exams."

"Yeah, the mean one?"

"Yes, that one, do you know we have been assigned a case together and anyone of us that got a strong evidence will head the case?"

"Like seriously? That's a huge competition over there."

"Yeah and I really want to beat her to it."

"Okay, so have you begin the investigations?"

"Yes and no. Right now I'm studying the facts from the file and right after this party in Saturday I'm going to do a field investigation and also chat with Mr Alli one on one." Jade said and Zara nods her head understandingly, she actually knows nothing about law but when Jade starts talking about her work she can not help but listen intuitively.

"And guess what again?" Jade asks giddily.

"What?" Zara asks back tiredly, she was already tired of Jade's suspense.

"Can you believe Sandra wants to bully me into dropping the case for her. Hmm, good thing I gave it to her. I shocked her." Jade said proudly.

"Wow! That my girl the activist. I trust you serves her right." Zara praises and Jade smiles proudly.

Zara and Jade had knew Sandra for a long time and knew immediately as Sandra won her first case that it must have involved something shady. They were not convinced of how Sandra won that case, so, Jade told Zara her thought about the case and they both investigated and found out of what Sandra had done. They kept mute because Jade felt if the public finds out about it, it will tarnish her mother's name and reputation.

"Don't you think Sandra will one day use that against you?" Zara asked worriedly.

"No, she dares not but if she tries, she will know how fun it is to go six feet down." Jade said literally but on a serious note.

"I take that as a joke, you are not serious right?"

"I'm serious, if she tries it then we shall both see who it will affect more." Jade said and Zara sighed thoughtfully.

"I know you to be careful and incapable of murder." Zara said.

"And you are right about that, I won't get my hand or name dirty because of Sandra, the only person that will, will not spare any resources around to take her down and what I meant by six feet down, is the end of her law career." Jade said and Zara heaved I sigh of relief.

For once, she was afraid Jade will do something dirty but apparently, Jade know how to play her cards well and will not do anything illegal to cause her down fall or that of her mother's.

"I know I can play with words a lot and you are supposed to understand how I do it." Jade said.

"Sometimes you make your words sound real and it will be so difficult to understand." Zara answered.

Jade laughed and said. "You better understand me better in future. Let's check out what we bought before we will end up saying only one thing and forget about the important things."

They both brought out what they bought and Jade loved all the designs and colours of the veils Zara bought she even took one and told Zara that it belongs to her. Zara had nothing to say about it but to agree and let Jade have it.

"One of these days I'm going to have a change of wardrobe." Zara said as she stares into her wardrobe disgusted.

"Why?"

"To get rid of some old clothes or give it out to the needy." Zara replied.

"Well to me, that is a good plan and you know what? As soon as I get home, I'm going to do a wardrobe sanitation if there is a word like that and give out my old clothes to the maids." Jade said after buying Zara's idea.

Zara creates space for her veils in her wardrobe and Jade assisted her in keeping the veils well. Jade looked at all the veils and wonder what Zara is going to do with them because she can bet with anything that Zara will not use the veils only to keep them for the beauty of it.

Jade left the Coker's mansion after taking some snacks and went home. She promised to call Zara as soon as she gets home.

"Hi mommy," Jade greeted her mom as she walked into their living room.

"Hi my dear, how are you doing?" "I'm doing great mummy."

"Are you just coming home, now?" Fey asked. "Yes, mommy I am. Zara and I met with Tiara, for our dresses, for the Best's party and also we went for shopping, honestly I was the one that went for shopping, Zara just accompanied me." Jade explained.

"You don't need to explain about your whereabouts. I believe you are an adult and can take care of yourself." Fey said. "Thank you mommy, I thought you were going to scold me for coming home late." Jade said sincerely.

"Why should I? You are grown and at least the time is still holy, if I should scold you for reaching home by six, then I shall definitely disown you when you come home by twelve midnight." Fey joked, you can never tell she is the serious minded Barrister Fey Gold.

"I'm honoured to have you as a mother, you always understand me, thank you, ma." "You don't need to thank me again and again. You just have to be a good girl and don't keep late night, if you want to sleep over at Zara's place, then you should just give me a call to inform me." Fey said with a sweet smile.

"I love you, mummy" "I love you too, my dear, come and join me at the table." Fey said and they both walked to the dining table to eat. Jade always love moments like this but it so unfortunate that their family was not complete.

After dinner, Fey asked Jade to meet her in the study and Jade obeyed by nodding her consent.

Fey's study was more of a library with so many books arranged in shelves, a study table and chair. There is also a chair for an extra person. Fey sat on her study chair and Jade sat on the chair opposite the table.

"I know you must be worried that I called you here. Well I want to tell you not be because what I want to tell you is about the case, on Monday Mr Alli is coming to the firm and both you and Sandra will have a chance to talk to him at length." Fey said as soon as Jade had made herself comfortable on the chair.

"Okay, mommy." Jade nodded agreeing to what her mother had said.

"I'm expecting a lot from you on Monday, I don't want a situation that you might fail, I need you to concentrate and also be focused. Sandra is my assistant and more coordinated than you but I you to be the legal representative of Mr Alli for this case." Fey said sternly.

"Mommy, you don't need to sound like that, I've already given you my word so, please believe in it." Jade said encouragingly.

"I will, if you need anything from the study for more consultations please be free to get it." "Okay, mommy. Goodnight."

"Goodnight my dear, have a nice sleep and a sweet dream." Fey bid and Jade walked out of the study politely after giving her mom a goodnight sleep.
