CHAPTER 1: UNHAPPY BIRTHDAY

CHAPTER 1: UNHAPPY BIRTHDAY

ATHENA'S POV

A sound of an alarm awakes the sleepy child from her fairytale dream. Her sleepy figure change into a cheerful one as the day she awaiting finally came. Her birthday. The day which the people she cares will be in one place.

A knock on the door bring back the little girl to a reality. A beautiful middle-aged woman entered the room picking the child into her lap. "Good morning, my little princess. Time to get get ready for your wonderful day," the woman said and starts to dress up the child.

The woman is actually her mother, she loves her children equally but there is no doubt that their youngest is their favorite one. Athena. The bright and intelligent youngest. Even though the love and attention she received, there is still a lingering sadness inside her. She missed her older siblings. They are in another country with their grandparents. Due to unknown reasons, they can't come to celebrate her seventh birthday with her.

The party starts and everyone was having their fun time until the time for the main event. The candle blowing. Everyone sings for the seven-year old girl. "Okay Princess, blow out the candles now but before that make a wish," her father said. But for her, her family was enough that she has nothing to wish for.

"Dear God, thank you that my dad and mom are my parents. I love them so much. I have nothing more to ask than for us to be happy and complete," before she could blow out the candle suddenly someone spoke.

"Wow, what a sweet wish you have. But sad to say, that wish of yours will never come true," a man spoke.

"What do you mean, sir?," a confused question Athena ask.

"Oh sweetie, what I mean is THIS," the man said and pulled out the gun. People started to run away except her friends who could not move because of fear. Her father hold her hand and hide her in her behind him.

"What do you want, Vince?," her father said angrily. From Athena's perspective he is a psycho who is need for blood.

"Owen, you clearly know what I want is," * BANG * Athena screamed and cried when the man shots her mother. It's clear for that what he wants was her family's life and she felt helpless on it.

"What have you done?! Why did you do this?! We are best friends, why did you kill my wife?" Her father cried while hugging her dead mother in his arms.

"Tsk. Owen, I am only interested in your business not you. That's why I invest your company a large amount of money because if you die I will be the next heir of the company hahahahaha!!!," the man crazily laughed.

"Dream on! Athena is the next heir of my company, not you," Owen said angrily.

"Oh, too bad for you Owen. Your daughter will never see the sun rise again," he said and pointed the gun at the girl and shot her. Everything became blurry as she lay down on the floor. Before she lost consciousness she heard her father get angrier and shout. Then another gunshot was heard.

She saw her own father's cold body laying beside her mother. She promise from that moment, she'll make them pay. She will kill them one by one, especially him. "I swear that I'm going to kill him, * sob * this is the happiest and also the worst birthday ever," then everything went black.

She woke up and saw a white ceiling and a smell of disinfectant. 'I see, I survive. Heaven is taking on my side,' she said to herself. She look around and saw two of her aunts sleeping. She smiles evilly and said, "Vince, you mustn't expect this, right? I survive. Now, I will return the favor that you did to my parents."

One of her aunts woke up and shockingly look at me. She suddenly rushed out and call for a doctor that made her second aunt woke up. The doctor came and inspect her, and a few minutes later he said that she was fine and just need to rest.

"Athena... about your...parents...they are...,"

"Dead, I know. I saw it with my own eyes. How that monster killed them. How he didn't even hesitate to kill us. I can't forgive him. I'll take everything back and.... I'll kill him with my two hands." She bravely said. She wants to cry but she knows crying can't change anything. She become an orphan now because of the man that killed her whole family.

"Athena, you can't do that. You mustn't put justice in your hands besides your too young to do this," Aunt said.

"I don't care, Aunt! He takes everything to me and I'll take it back. that's my parents' blood and sweat and I can't let him take it away. I swear, I'll do everything once I grow up. in that way, I have enough time to plan out my revenge. if you don't support me that's fine, I'll do it myself,"

"Fine, we'll help you. But first, you need to rest and about your house...."

" he also got it, isn't he?" I asked and she nodded. I felt my blood boiled that I clenched the sheets beside me.

"It must be hard on you, Athena. It's fine if you stay at my house since I live alone. I don't mind you accompanying me," the second aunt said.

"No thanks, second aunt. My father gave me a house as a present. I'm gonna move there," I declined.

"Athena," Aunt called."Why didn't you think of contacting the police first if you want to give justice to your parents' death?"

"Even if I want to tell the police it will be useless," I answered.

"But why?" second aunt asked.

"If you plan a murder you must not leave any evidence that will prove that you killed that person," I explained. No evidence. No trace. No witnesses. That's how perfect murder is conducted.

"No evidence? Yeah, it will be possible but what about your friends? They can provide statements to tell who's behind this," the second aunt claimed.

"Even if my friends saw it they will never be able to provide any evidence due to trauma. Do you think they can provide any?" They went quiet and think deeply.

" But still, they are witnesses. They can provide any statements once they get over it," Aunt concluded but I just look at her before my second aunt suddenly think of something.

"Could it be? F*ck! He bribed them! If a higher-up is supporting his lies then no matter what statement the witness says the results will be the same. He will be still free," she said and I nodded in agreement.

"But I still don't get it. Why can't we rely on the police? there must be police that weren't bribed, right?," Aunt clarified.

"Aunt, we cannot give justice to my parents because we have no evidence. We can't also rely on the police. They are on his side. No matter how many times we proved that he is guilty they won't listen to us," I explained and she went silent.

"What are you planning now?," Second aunt asked. What am I planning? Revenge, of course.

"If they can't give justice to my parents. I will give it on my own. They want evidence? I give it to them?"

"If that's the case, you can't move to the house that your father gave to you. If Vince wants to steal your father's company, he maybe knows where and what his property is. He buys that house for you. That means he knows it too. If you move there, he will know that you are still alive," Aunt explained. She has a point. If that's the case I will need to be careful of my movements. Just wait, Vince. I will come back to take what's mine and give justice to my parents. I will surely kill you.
