POV: Aelira
The world was splitting.
Two Ethans stood before her—one pulsing with the fractured warmth she knew, the other cloaked in obsidian light, his voice Kaelen's but his soul a twisted echo.
They circled each other like dying stars.
Aelira's hands trembled with power—white lightning coiled at her fingertips, her heart burning in sync with the Twinheart Bond. But now… the bond was splintering. Her link to Ethan pulled in two directions.
And the System was no help.

She understood what it meant. She was the anchor.
She stepped forward, voice like a blade. "This ends now."
Ethan turned to her—her Ethan. Wounded, unsure, flickering with Kaelen's memories bleeding into his own. "Aelira, I—if I destroy him, I might lose what he knew. What I need to stop what's coming."
The other Ethan—Kaelen's Echo—smiled darkly. "Or keep me, and lose who you really are. The bond's changing you. She knows it. Ask her what she saw last night. In the kiss."
Aelira's breath caught.
She'd seen something—just a glimpse—of the Dead Throne awake, and Ethan standing upon it. Alone. Cold.
Was it him… or the man he could become?
She stepped between the two. Looked at her Ethan. Touched his chest.
"You asked me if I chose you," she whispered. "Let me show you what that means."
She kissed him—not like before. This was war. Love. Command.
And the System flared.

The Kaelen Echo screamed as his form shattered into memory-light. But before he vanished, he said one last thing:
"You think it ends with me? The throne wasn't built to be sat on. It was built to contain."
Silence.
Ethan collapsed into Aelira's arms, gasping.
And deep in the crypt—the Dead Throne pulsed once.
Awake.
