Chapter 5
Saber more or less was blown away hearing what her wish would do to the world as a whole.
She never thought more about this, thinking that all the things will go away if she will get her hands on the miracle cup.
"Not that grail will grant your wish in the first place. Do you truly believe there won't going to be consequences for wishes like 'world peace', 'Redo ridership' or time travel?
The world itself will reject that, and in the worse case whole timeline will be purged.
No matter what our world only cares for progress, if progress is stalled it will cause a reaction from counter-force." Gilgamesh said that as he returned to his seat.
"...So, wishing for world peace...is wrong too?" Saber asked that since it was the wish of her Master.
*Snort*
"That is naive thinking of human who experienced traumatic event in his life.
Saber, war and peace are two sides of the same coin, without war, humanity would lose their self-preservation, and will start losing their instincts.
Peace and War should only be a temporary state of affairs, switching between each other in a circle.
Helping continuously to shape humanity as a whole.
Like raising a child, if you pamper him or her too much you get a spoiled brat… like Ishtar.
And if you discipline him or her too much and you will get a traumatised rigid individual incapable of thinking of himself." Gilgamesh said with a shrug, he finds the concept of world peace ridiculous, and a wish something a naive child will wish for.
"Are you sure you don't wish to join my army? I am feeling like a child again listening to the lectures, as advisor perhaps?" Rider said with a thoughtful look.
*Snort*
"I am doing my job as the King of World, Rider. My original goal set by Gods were to guide humanity, I never thought I will have to do that in grail war where Heroes have the most absurd wishes which can lead to the destruction of the world."
Saber was...well, embarrassed and didn't know what to say…
"So, all the wars and killing through the ages…"
"What of them? If war didn't exist do you know how many people would be in this world? Could the world sustain all that? Wars naturally occur to halt the birth of people and teach humans lessons, help advance technologies." He casually mentioned that.
"Can't people do that without killing each other?" Saber asked him.
"Let me ask you this, can you describe something you never experienced before? To a certain degree you can but that will be either from your imagination or second-hand information.
The same is with the horrors of war and what it means to kill, people will tell their children how horrible it was because their parent has experienced it but what of the next generation and generation after? When War to them was nothing more than a myth?
Human natural curiosity will simply restart that because they didn't experience and know nothing of those horrors.
As mentioned before it's nothing more than a cycle of life."
As the King of Heroes explained that he felt multiple presences surround them…
More like reveal themselves…
"It would appear our time has been cut short. Kirei, I know you watching through Assassin and you only following orders, do tell to Tokiomi that he makes poor advisor for a King." Gilgamesh said with a sigh as he leaned back into the chair.
"Assassin? What is the meaning of this Archer!?"
Saber jumped out of her chair and rushed to the white-haired woman side, same with Rider's Master who once again ended up close to his Servant.
"Tokiomi wants to see Rider's ultimate triumph card, so he is making Assassin interrupt our banquet." The King of Heroes explained to the jumpy Saber.
"Hahaha! Did he now? Your Master is something else! Even when he has you he still uses other Master's Servant to do the scouting!" Rider laughed while saying that he got up from his chair and faced the multiple Assasins.
"Very well then! Let me show you all my right to rule!!!" That moment winds started to pick up around him.
With an eye roll, Gilgamesh recalled the food from the table, Saber that moment bit her lower lip seeing all that food get stored away.
Leaving only more heavier stuff on the table like pots with drinks.
Very next moment bright light consumed the whole garden with Rider in the middle of it.
The next moment everyone was transported to the desert with no clouds in sight.
"No...way… this is…"
"Reality Marble." King of Heroes said as he changed his sitting position to see the whole thing better.
He was impressed, to say the least, to create Reality Marble is difficult… to have a whole army of Servant level beings inside of it is even more harder to accomplish.
Before long sound of marching army can be heard, Rider was already there at the very from of his army while facing less than a hundred dumbstruck Assassin in nothing more than open desert…
Inside of this Reality Marble, Iskandar's Charisma is maxed out and whatever he says quite literally becomes awe-inspiring.
"These men are my legendary heroes! My loyal followers! They're my true friends - breaking the rules of space and time to fight once more at my side.
They are my treasure within treasures; they're my right to rule! They make up Iskandar's mightiest Noble Phantasm – Ionian Hetairoi!!!" Rider declared that loudly and his army roared alongside him!
Moments later he pulled out his sword and pointed at the Assassins, who were looking around, trying to find anything of use in this place.
"Charge! Let's show King of Heroes Master our might!!!"
With another roar, the King of Conquerors charged at the Assassins right behind him there were hundreds if not thousands of men.
It was an utterly one-sided beatdown and complete waste of Servant in Gilgamesh eyes…
'Well, it leaves only four Servants… I should start doing preparations for my reincarnation.' The blonde King of Mesopotamia thought to himself as he looked at victorious Iskandar.
Moments later the Reality Marble disappeared and everyone was back in the garden, the Macedonian King was back in his seat.
Only Saber was not sitting at the table, after that surprise appearance of Assassin she is not risking it anymore.
"Well, that is that! What do you think? Is it to your satisfaction?" Rider proudly said that.
"I never said your ultimate weapon was bad." The blonde King of Mesopotamia said while shaking his head.
"Still, I always knew your ultimate Noble Phantasm was something related to your army. So, I never needed a demonstration. Nonetheless, it was something else to see army which marched through my lands... it will be a... pleasure crushing them…" Gilgamesh said with an almost feral grin.
"Hoho I can't wait to pit them against your armoury King of Heroes!" King of Conquerors said with a grin of his own.
"Good, then we will have our battle after Saber settles hers with Lancer, winners shall face each other in finals."
The Macedonian King nodded before picking up two cups and filling up with the content of the first pot he can find.
It was some sort of wine.
Rider then gave one cup to Archer.
"To our battle and the finals!" King of Conquerors offered his toast.
"To our battle and the finals."
*Clang*
Moments later both girls drank the wine.
"Hah! This wine is heavenly!!! Can I take one of the pots with me before I go?" Rider asked, nearly... pleaded.
"Fine. I still have at least several hundred pots of those." Gilgamesh shrugged while saying that.
"... I really want to raid your treasury King of Heroes." The redhaired giant said with a jealous look.
"...You can't. I already told you didn't I? I am the manifestation of wealth, my treasury is always growing and will always grow as long as the concept of Treasure exist as long as people desire for wealth grows so will my treasury." The blonde King said while shaking his head from amusement, Iskandar just continue to entertain him with his silliness.
"I am sure I can think of something." King of Conquerors said with a thoughtful look.
"Do try come up with something before our battle, who knows, if you can push me enough I might unleash my most powerful treasure." King of Heroes said with a smirk.
"Oh? Interesting! Now I am even more excited! Very well! This will be the greatest battle so far! Battle between Kings! Hahaha!" Macedonian King finished his vine and put the cup on the table.
With extra vigour, Rider got up from his chair and pulled out his sword.
With a swing of it, lightning crackled in the sky and moments later a chariot pulled by bulls descended from heaven.
"Boy! we are going home! It's getting late!" After saying that the King of Conquerors looked at Saber who was still standing next to the white-haired woman.
"Saber! You can keep the wine, and you have my thanks for being our host for this banquet." He then looked at Gilgamesh with a grin.
"King of Heroes! I will see you later! My thanks for food and wine!"
Iskandar grabbed his Master and the pot of wine before leaving with his chariot.
Moments later it became increasingly quiet and even tense for Saber that is. The more she is around Archer the more he reveals about himself the more she realised how simply absurd even insane is his abilities.
As of now, she has no idea what is inside his treasury, apart endless amount of absurd things from food to weapons he used to kill Caster and Berserker.
"Saber… are you going to continue chasing after grail after learning the consequences of your wish?" The blonde Mesopotamian King asked fellow blond.
With hand motion, he recalled all of the remaining pots and then summoned a warm kettle.
It was tea…
"If you are thinking that I am going to surrender just because my wish has enormous consequences then no, I will continue to fight, my sword is still my Master's." Saber sharply said that, thinking that Gilgamesh is trying to persuade her to give up.
"Chivalrous as ever. Very well, let me remind you, Saber, that even if you use grail for the wish it won't going to work, because I already told you that your rule is set in stone, literally. All you going to get is a branch in a timeline." As he said that he pointed at the blackboard where the mainline has smaller lines.
"I see… nonetheless, I will continue to fight!"
King of Heroes shook his head in amusement.
"Stubborn as ever, maybe that's what I like most about you." He said that while shaking his head in amusement.
Perfectly honest he never met someone so bullheaded, closest to this was Ishtar but… she is stupid stubborn, a different thing.
And there is no comparison between those two.
"..."
"..."
"Are… you courting me? In middle of Grail war?" Saber asked with a dumbstruck look.
The King of Knights didn't know what to say, this was ridiculous beyond anything she heard.
"Who knows? I never met anyone like you before. I told you before, didn't I? When I was ruling Uruk my rule was divine, is divine. I was born to rule, my mother is Goddess and my father is a demi-god who ruled Uruk for hundreds of years.
Making me ⅔ God, from a very small age my words were law and everyone obey them."
Saber listened with abrupt attention trying to understand what he wants to say.
"And then I was summoned here, where everyone is a Hero of renown, it's refreshing to see them don't know me by sight, even talking back to their King like that.
To them… I was just another Heroic Spirit." He smirked saying that.
"And what do you say to my courting... hmm?" Gilgamesh asked with interest, he was interested to hear her answer.
