Chapter 17

Great Arthan's meditation is a subclass of the main meditation of Shaolin monks, The Lotus Meditation.

The key difference is that Great Arthan's meditation seeks to reach enlightenment through martial arts. It's a meditation that didn't have much success in his previous world.

Compared to Lotus meditation. Though the reason for that was that there was no energy to cultivate or improve.

Sure, one could fight 1 vs 10 situations after cultivating it. But that's about it.

This is where Raynold believes he will be able to advance because of his Ki and Honkai.

After thinking for a bit he recalled the scythe and the core crystal. Before proceeding to start Great Arthan's meditation.

He has not practised this for two years so he was slightly rusty. But it didn't last for long as he quickly got it back into the groove. Before long golden steam started to rise from his body.

This meditation point was to 'ponder' on the scythe art he was developing.

Though funny enough he got a hint on how to improve the core along the way to iron out the scythe technique.

After opening his eyes he could see that snow was gone around a 20 metres radius around him.

"That's a lot of steam…" For a second he was impressed by how much more power flows when you use Ki to meditate.

Regardless he swiftly summoned his Life and Death Core and switched to the Lotus meditation and proceeded to cultivate it instead of Great Arthan's meditation.

Some time passed and when he opened his eyes…they were glowing gold his gaze went to the core.

"I see… so it was reluctance… a natural reaction to a death.

In that case…"

As he said black and red energies erupted from his right hand and a massive scythe constructed itself.

This time it was the same one wielded by Seele.

"In that case I simply accept it."

That moment his clothes changed, he became quite a goth reaper…

Seeing his clothes he snorted before they changed once again. Returning to his black Gi, instead this time a grey undershirt appeared underneath his black Gi and white fighting gloves.

Once the transformation was over he proceeded to stand up and take a stance with the black and red scythe.

He then spread out his gravity-bound senses and looked for Honkai Beasts.

'Since my lands are clean we can 'raid' more southern areas.'

After scanning south he found quite a bit of Honkai Beasts in the middle of Asia not far from the Caspian Sea.

With a simple wormhole, he appeared above them and then proceeded to spin sideways into one of the beasts.

By the time he crashed into one, he was like a black tornado.

He cut several of them with a single stroke. Before swirling the scythe and cutting everything in his path. In less than a few seconds, he was done with over 15 beasts.

"The speed-to-kill ratio is better than my gravity. This could be considered that Gravity is a civilization killer and Death and Life is just as it says… Life ending power."

As he was contemplating more Honkai beasts were surrounding him.

"Good, come at me, I need feedback!" With a swirl, he put the scythe behind him, taking Luohan Monk's stance. As long as the weapon was similar to a pole or a staff this stance could be utilised.

Seconds later the beasts lunged at him, to answer back Raynold channelled more death to his scythe and slashed it at them.

Massive crescent-style blast of black and red energy rushed forward from the scythe's sharp end right at the Honkai beasts. Cut them in half with a single swing.

This was not the end as he sent several vertical and horizontal slashes at other beasts which were behind him and on his sides.

Ten minutes later he has cleaned up all of them around the Caspian sea area.

"Hmm… Not bad. But this is not the final version of this."

To contemplate on this he used his Lotus meditation more on this specific subject. He needed to process all of his fighting and utilisation of Death and Life.

The style was there, so it was not his Great Arthan Meditation which is needed but his comprehension.

"Ah yes… Now I see it…

This was so obvious…these are not separate laws but a single one. In other words… This should not have taken me so long."

For a second he felt quite stupid. As someone who practised Buddhism and Taoism not to see the cycle when it's in your face.

Embarrassing to say the least.

After grasping what needs to be done.

He could feel that it was time.

Honkai's energy rushed at him from all directions, entering his body, getting refined, and then merging with his core.

At that moment the core got refined and expanded in its size.

It was no longer pure white like crystal but it had black and red, blue and white accents on it. It was twice the size.

Not only that but… his reserves doubled in size! Before this he had more Honkai than Kiana and Seele combined…now he could power them a few times over.

When he opened his eyes. And looked around, he could see grasslands as far as he could see…

'What in the world did I do?'

He inspected himself for a bit. His costume changed a little bit, the fighting gloves were now proper white with knuckle protectors and he could summon a scythe at a moment's notice.

In other words…his life power was fighting gloves while his death power was his Scythe…

Though his aura alone depends on need… could do some crazy stuff…

As he looked around and with bursts of black and red energy everything was dead around him. With another white and blue energy burst, grass re-grew once more.

"Fascinating… I need to train more for this."

After looking around for a bit he opened another wormhole and disappeared.

Not realising how much-unexpected chaos he has done. He just cleaned several thousands of miles of land from the Honkai and gave it back to humanity.

Such a thing has never crossed his mind. Why should it? All he was thinking is something regular humans could not even dream of understanding.

Once he was back at his grandmother's house he saw that Kiana was sleeping in his bed. Since he was not there she needed to use his pillows as a hug pillow.

He could only shake his head as he got back in his bed and took his pillow back. This swiftly made her get on the move once again. She ended up hugging him in a few seconds.

The girl then ended up snuggling into him.

'Kitten acting like a Kitten.' He just sighed in amusement before proceeding to get some shut-eye.

His mind needs to process all he did in the past 4 hours.

[Scientists from Schicksal are still baffled by the images they got from the Caspian Sea region. The area which was heavily infested by Honkai is now lush grassland ready for human activity.

People are considering returning to live here after scientists and researchers will finish with their checks of the soil.]

The news reporter was showing the area around the Caspian sea.

Kiana and the rest were looking at this and then at Raynold who was lazily eating his protein-heavy breakfast. He was lazily chewing on a boiled egg as he was looking at the TV with a not-caring look.

Though internally he was impressed by the speed of this news. He was done with the Honkai beasts around 5 hours ago.

And the news agency was already there.

"Psst! Ray! Why didn't you take us there? You had all the fun for yourself!" Kiana whispered while making sure his grandmother was not paying attention to them.

"By the time I left, you were drooling on my pillow." After saying that he took the last bite of his egg and proceeded to eat his salad.

"You should have said that you will be going to do something!" She said that with a small pout.

Internally he sighed seeing her. She looked like an almost crying cat…

*Sigh*

"Why don't we go to have some fun after breakfast? I sensed that there were quite a bit of Honkai beasts in the pacific area."

Her eyes brightened when she heard that she swiftly nodded several times to his proposal.

After breakfast was done the pair was ready to move out.

"Seele, do you want to come with us?"

His question got the girl thinking before she said yes, she looked at Bronya. She quickly understood that her best friend can't go with her. It's too dangerous for regular humans.

"No, I will stay with Bronya to keep her company."

Hearing her answer made the Ash-coloured girl frown for a bit. She was not happy about being the third wheel like this.

"Big Brother when you return can you teach me how to wield Ki?" Bronya asked with a cute look. She was like a bunny who was asking for food.

Kiana frowned seeing that. Is she trying to make her mad!?

"Sure. It's about time." Raynold easily agreed to her request. It was about time. He noticed how she was looking at their power with some longing. Though she is not that good at asking for things.

"Great. I suppose you two can keep my grandmother company. Tell her that we are busy with our things for today."

After saying that he grabbed Kiana's hand and the pair disappeared into a wormhole.

[No way… H-He recreated another Herrscher's core…no he recreated it twice!!!] Sirin exclaimed with pure shock as she saw Raynold form a scythe from what looked like Herrscher of Life and Death Core!

Not only that but he had its powers radiating from his body! It's like expanded his core with Life and Death Core as well!

'He is on a completely different level…' Kiana agreed with her.

As she saw him swing a Scythe casually and kill a small horde of Honkai Beasts at one of the beaches in Indonesia.

[It's no longer a difference in levels. He is simply cheating. It's like he hacked Honkai and is abusing its powers as he sees fit.]

Sirin said with a bitter tone. How is she supposed to catch up with him if he is cheating and she is playing with normal difficulty?

'Then why don't we ask him to teach us to cheat?' Kiana thought as she summoned one of her subspace lances, slammed and skewered a Chariot class Honkai Beast.

[So you are not useless after all.]

'Thanks for the vote of confidence.'

[Impressive! you are picking up more difficult words now!]

The Queen of Void indeed sounded impressed, which made Kiana get slightly self-conscious. The White haired girl snorted and brushed it aside with hidden embarrassed blush and opened more void portals and shot several rows of Subspace lances killing a small band of Honkai Beasts.

Though her killing speed is far slower than Raynold's scythe of slaughter.

As he motioned with his hands and the honkai beasts started to fly toward him.

"Get over here!" Saying magic words of a certain character from a certain fighting game he proceeded to slice and dice them like a grim reaper the moment they were in front of him.

To finish it off he channelled a specific intent of one of the moves from the Blue Dragon Sword School of Wu-Dang.

With a rotational spin which is done sideways since it's the only way to do it with a scythe, he released a high-intensity crescent-shaped slash. It was on a level of its own as a dragon roar accompanied it.

'Blue Dragon Devouring the Clouds'

The slash slowly morphed into a black and red eastern dragon as it rushed into Honkai beasts consuming them in the path before rushing into the sea killing everything in its path, even the fish and bacteria, nothing was left in its path…all of it has experienced death.

Kiana who saw it from behind Raynold could only stare at this with an open mouth.

What on earth did he just do!?

"It's called Martial Arts Kitten. It appears I had a Breakthrough."
