Marcus BoW: Salvage
It's time for Marcus to get his hands on a BoW (Book of Wishes)
Chaos (Raynor) has reigned far too long, it is time for Order (Marcus) to have some fun.
**Synopsis**
A sixteen-year-old regular Marcus Goldman finds a fancy black book that can grant any of his wishes.
As someone quite different from Raynor, what does he do with this book?
Well, he uses it to improve his work speed and efficiency. Sadly it's not that easy with the Omnipotent wish granting book.
He quickly realizes that his thinking is far too small and he began to think bigger... At a multiversal scale.
-----
The theme of the fic is a pseudo jump chain to technologically advanced verses (Gundam, Code Geass, Guilty Crown, Darling in Franxx, Honkai, etc)
So simply put he jumps there, loot, and collects salvage before swiftly returning to his garage.

Prologue
The classes for the day were finished and Marcus Goldman packed his things and left the school. As he was walking toward his house he noticed that something was sticking out of the bushes.
It was a book, a black leather book.
'Ok…someone has no respect for books. Seriously…'
He walked over and touched it to pull it out. However, at that moment an electrical current washed him over. From that shock, he pulled his hand back.
'What the…:
The teen shook his hand, before inspecting the book from a different angle.
'Ok…what the hell was that? The thing is plugged into something? Or was it electrified and left like that?'
He snorted for a second before trying once again. He wants to see if it's a prank or not. Or maybe someone put some sort of contraption? It was pure curiosity.
Without much fuss this time there was nothing there. The book easily got itself out and Marcus swiftly opened the first page to see what it was.
There was something written on the back of the cover.
[Book of Wishes and how to use it]
[He or She has to write their wish in the pages of this book, the more specific the wish, the better!]
[Best Regards]
[The Original One]
'...This…is a shitty prank… However… apart from this bizarre note the rest of the book is empty.'
Marcus thought to himself as he inspected the pages. They were all empty.
So, without much thought, he packed the notebook and continued to walk toward his house.
~~~
Marcus was 16 years old. At a quite young age, he showed a high talent for machines and technology in general.
When he was seven he got a totaled car from his uncle from his mother's side. The car was quite brand new, only that the crash was pretty much fatal for its engine.
So ever since he got it he worked on repairing it. As years went by technology advanced and the teen gained new interests in smartphones.
This leads him in developing a curiosity in programming and coding.
One could say that he was walking on a path toward engineering and manufacturing from an early age.
By the time he was 16, he was able to make basic apps for an android smartphone.
It was his intention before he founded this book.
However, his mind would wander toward this notebook. He was curious about it.
"I know it's a joke… But, I can't seem to get you out of my head."
He said that to himself as he was sitting at his computer chair and looking at the book on the table.
To get out of his system he decided to write in this notebook.
'Let's ask something simple.'
[Give me a new Samsung Galaxy phone.]
That moment the letters glowed and a wrapped box with the latest Samsung Galaxy phone appeared next to the book.
When Marcus saw this he had a perplexed look. So it was real stuff…
This made him think, he pulled back and started to spin in his gaming chair. Honestly, this made him excited and slightly annoyed at the same time.
Giving this much freedom is annoying because he has to use his time to figure out how to use this in an orderly fashion.
"Hmm, in that case, I can ask for extra time. Easy as that."
Without thinking much, he wrote more stuff in the notebook.
[I want time manipulation]
The moment he wrote that he felt like he detached himself from the flow of a stream. Like he became self-aware at a much grander scale.
"This is fascinating, hmm, this will allow me to work on my things without much hassle."
Realising this Marcus asked the next thing which he wanted.
He wants another notebook that gives small tips when he is solving his equations.
The teen doesn't want something which could blatantly help him, more like directional assistance.
[I want a notebook which—]
~~~
When he got the book Marcus proceeded to solve his mathematical issues in that book. He smiled quite a bit at how this notebook book just gave him extremely simple assistance which saved more time for him.
It was efficiency at its finest.
He was working on an assisting A.I., It was at extremely early stages. It doesn't recognize his voice, it doesn't even have this function yet, or even gives helpful advice.
This is where his next wish came, after practising with the notebook for weeks, without much break, since he didn't need a break with his time manipulation.
The teen asked for an upgraded computer. A rig powerful enough to handle an A.I.
Once the wish was granted he proceeded to work on the A.I. program since he developed a general idea of what he needed to do after he spent all that time with the maths notebook.
Since he had Time Manipulation, spending time doing something became quite strange to him. It was like he was simply doing it, and he felt like had enough time to finish it.
Truthfully it was quite an experience! The ultimate assistance for someone who values time and efficiency.
After writing the last part, Marcus pressed the execute button.
At that moment multiple black windows started to pop up one after another. Texts were rushing down like an avalanche. But then an error popped up.
"Hmm…let's see…"
The error didn't dissuade Marcus, he did more in this single afternoon than in a few years. Yes, it's still afternoon, even if a few weeks have passed. It's called Time Manipulation for a reason
So for the next few hours, he checked the errors and went back to his notebook. Redoing a few things before proceeding to try again.
This lasted for a few times before all the black windows with letters stopped and simply closed up one after another.
At that moment at the corner of the screen, there was a widget. It was showing a static line.
"Let's see. Do you understand me, Legion?"
[Yes, Legion V1.0 is here to assist you, sir.]
A grin appeared on Marcus' face, fantastic! His first A.I. is working! The way it speaks still sounds robotic but eventually, it will become better as he will find a good replacement for the voice.
"Now, why don't we test out a few things?"
[Certainly, sir]
~~~
After finishing one of his dream projects Marcus was at a loss for a while. He even stopped using his time powers and was allowed to get back to the monotony of regular life.
Such a thing helps him to figure out what to do with his life now that he has this absurd book that can do anything for him.
At first, he was thinking of just using the book casually to get parts for his car and just fix it. But, later on, he realised that he was thinking VERY small. With the book, he can visit any reality, and acquire any tech, research, and machines.
Simply put he can do the wildest of dreams for any engineer and mechanic.
To start, he needs a place…or more like… a pocket dimension.
For a moment he thought about giving himself power over space. But that would diminish the experience factor. Having time is already considered a huge cheat.
So instead he decided to go with a specific power. Which he will call 'The Garage'. It will be a pseudo system. Similar to games where one can design and edit a base. Like that Fallout 4 Game.
But instead of a base, it will be a garage/Hangar. At first, he will have few basic things but as he travels through the multiverse he will acquire new tech. This means he will be able to get more specific work tables related to the tech he acquired.
However, at this moment he needs to figure out a base or starting level.
'Let's see… thinking about this I should start with mechs, and the best-known mechs are Gundams. So we will start with basic mech from the Gundam Franchise…
So a Zaku or Strike Dagger?'
'No…Zaku is too advanced, we will go with GINN. Strike Dagger already has beam technology, so it is very advanced as well.
This means I will go with general GINN, the beginning of the war technology it is.'
Marcus wrote down his starting mech in his regular notebook. This means whatever tech is used to build the GINN will be his current technological level as well.
'So, I will go with the Mech holding block, the manufacturing table, the designing table, the weapons holding rack, and an industrial forge to melt the salvage which I will be collecting.
To keep it interesting, I won't be cheating on the materials as well. This means I will need to be careful.
This means a storage area as well, followed by testing grounds. Since I will be having quite a huge amount of space in that case I could have huge computer facilities for processing data.
I won't need to cheat like I did with my PC…'
After writing down all the small details, it was time to think about specific wording for this specific power.
Marcus doesn't want to get broken just before he even started to enjoy his tech-gathering life.
So, a specific travelling system needs to be created.
'Oh, right! I almost forgot the catapult deck. Only instead of launching from a ship it will be launched from a garage right into the universe of my choice.'
He snorted with amusement as he wrote it down as well, he then returned to think about the system needed to create this entertaining and challenging long enough.
'This means limited entry points, limited choices…'
Thinking for a bit. He needs to limit the world he can visit as well. Since the Multiverse is infinite and he can spend billions of years surfing through that.
So instead he is only going to visit technically advanced worlds. Like, worlds advanced enough to build mechs.
This cuts quite a lot of worlds off. Giving him better management ability.
Besides, he can plot the visits better because of this.
'I suppose, 3 choices per trip should be enough.'
Once he figured out the number Marcus proceeded to iron out the details.
~~~
[Grant the wish written in the paper Marcus Goldman was holding at this moment.]
The letters glowed and the teen could feel how his wish had been granted. Because at this very moment, he could feel that he can 'create' a dimension.
Without wasting his time he did just that. He created this dimension with thought and opened a portal to this place.
White doors manifested next to him. He smiled when he saw that. He then proceeded to walk into this recently created dimension.
When he crossed over he was greeted by a white plane which was stretching as far as he could see.
"Hmm… too big…"
The moment he said that the plane instantly shrunk. Now he could feel the boundaries.
"Guess, it's time to work."
As Marcus said that a game-like window popped in front of him.
It was the Garage Customization window.
First, he started with walls. Since it's supposed to be greasy and related to metal. The best choice would be iron colour.
With simple hand motion, the surroundings changed. It was no longer a white plane but a squire metal room.
Next, the teen placed lighting and doors.
Once the basics were done he pressed on 'Installations'.
Now he started to inspect the stuff he had on hand and the technological level of his things.
'Hmm, as expected the level of my stuff is quite primitive. No holograms, only thin monitors are available.
Gundam Seed butchered the technology advancement level, but that's because it was released in the early 21 century.
Not that I am complaining, it forces me to visit worlds that have better computer tech than theirs. '
As he was thinking he started to change the shape of the room.
Because Mobile suits are between 17 to 19 metres tall the garage is fundamentally going to have small lift areas.
It will have two floors. The elevated floor will have the design areas and programming.
The lower area where the mech will be standing will have the heaviest load. Manufacturing, storage area, and industrial-related things. Like the forge which melts and reforges at the mech size level.
All of it is automated as he is only one guy. But this is where he started to think. This IS getting too big for him. He should have some people in this place.
However, for now, it can wait. As he started to place the items.
First was the Mech holding rack. This is where his gamer vibes started to surface.
His vision turned into eagle vision, he was looking down on the whole garage from the 'Sky'.
After getting used to this he proceeded to place the Mech holding rack. The moment he did that a mobile suit appeared on the rack as well.
For a second Marcus' eyes gleamed with glee. It was a bonafide GINN from Gundam Seed! He can't wait to dismantle it and find out its secrets before putting it back together and improving it!
But for now, he had to finish building his garage.
Once the mech rack was placed he put weapons one on the side. When the weapon rack appeared GINN weapons appeared there as well. The Bolt Rifle and the Heavy Slam sword. The most primitive weapons in Gundam Seed. A simple Rifle and a physical Sword.
Once the rack was finished Marcus then placed the catapult deck at the south wall, while the mech was at the North wall. On the East is the elevated area. Where the designing and programming area was.
On the west is the forge, and storage area, manufacturing block, all of which build a small network of corridors. At the end of the corridor is a stairway that goes down into the computer data complex.
The complex was almost as big as the whole garage. Marcus is all about quick calculations and minimum lag.
After placing all the things he then proceeded to build a living complex on the East Wing.
From a big kitchen, and bedrooms to a small cinema, he built all of it. To top it all he even made a swimming pool. Morning swimming is good exercise.
The perk of this all is that the technological level of all of this was Gundam Seed standard. Roughly 22 to 23 centuries. While certain technology doesn't feel like it has advanced from the early 21 century, certain other ones did improve considerably since people from this verse focused on space colonial technologies
This means the whole water pipe system is fully circulating without him adding or controlling anything. Next is the weather control… He had all of it. He could have a proper indoor ecosystem if he wanted to.
Which gives him ideas on how to expand his garage in the future.
Apart from these, the batteries are extremely advanced from what he remembers from his world. The concept of 'ultra compact' is taken to the next level. He is thinking of testing it out on the phone he wished for a few weeks ago…or was it months? Well, it doesn't matter. The thing was the batteries are good.
Then lastly, he figured out that Nuclear Power was advanced beyond what his world can make at this time. It was fully automated as well!
Which made him grin. He forgot how he should deal with power issues in his new garage, he was even thinking of cheating with his book. But, it turns out he doesn't need to. The Nuclear tech was just that good. Hell, they even developed the Neutron Jammer which they used to wipe the nuclear power just before the war even started.
All that tech was here.
'It appears when I got the GINN I acquired all of Gundam Seed Technologies just before the war.
Though in wartime technology advances the fastest.'
As he thought about that Marcus proceeded to put the finishing touches on his new place.
The reactor was in the basement even lower than the Computer Data processing floor. It was big enough to support a large city. He kept it like this because he knows he will be expanding in the future.
For a large amount of salvage, he will need a ship eventually. And this ship's fuel is something he has not thought out yet.
It could be electrical batteries all he knew, he can't recall much about the ship's fuel used in Gundam Seed.
'Maybe I will visit a world with good power sources before I need a ship. Who knows. It just makes it more exciting!'
Once he was done with the floor related to the power he went up and laid down the cables for the Computer Data Processing. It was built in a way that it has a single power switch.
In other words, if something happens to Legion he can simply switch it off with the simple press of a button.
When he was done with this the next was the main floor where spend a considerable amount of time working with electrical installation.
However, for someone like him, it was almost like therapy.
After doing all that he went to his room in the outside world and collected his computer rig and took it downstairs to the Computer Data Processing.
A quick transfer later, his A.I. was transferred to the main unit. With this, his garage was fully operational.
[I am online sir, the increase in my capacities will improve the amount I can help you.]
"Good to hear that it increased instead of decreased, I had no idea how much my rig could handle."
[The previous platform performance increased alongside my needs. This means I didn't have more processing power to tap into at short notice, unlike my current capacities.]
"Good to hear."
Regardless, this rig is a keeper. A platform that gets better the more needier is the software!? It's simply a Gamer's dream.'
Marcus decided to keep this magical thing. He is going to keep it as his gaming rig in his room. Even though this thing is a cheat. Well, not a cheat as he is not keeping it in his garage.
Once he did all the small things, like returning the rig to his room and exploring the living quarters he went right to the machine placed in the holding rack.
First, he spends some time getting accustomed to it. Checking out the exterior, finding the hatch opening button which is hidden.
After that, he got inside the cockpit.
He played a bit with the controls and of course, tried to access the OS and its systems. However, he found some issues… He has no idea how to access it.
This means…he needs blueprints, otherwise he will be wasting a lot of time reverse-engineering this thing.
While it's not a bad thing. Because the long process would make him better at understanding Gundam Seed technology.
It doesn't change the simple fact that Blueprints would make the process more efficient and shorter.
After failing multiple times Marcus decided to leave the machine and went over to the Programming desk. It's a three-monitor computer that is directly linked to the machine.
As the GINN currently has maintenance cables connected, giving him access in a different kind of way.
The moment he got into the seat and activated the computer, he found out that the operating system of the computer was not Windows or any of the ones he knows off.
"Well… I guess I can work on improving this…"
It was the one from Gundam Seed. This made him realise that everything in his workshop is from Gundam Seed Verse, in other words technology from C.E 73. The Cosmic Era year 73.
This means he could bring stuff from his world into this to find that balance. As some technology has regressed since certain resources dwindled and they had to abandon certain advancements and invent alternatives.
'Most likely the metals used for microchips…or maybe I am just overthinking. First I need to check, then we can see for certain…'
"Legion. Check if there are any blueprints for the GINN can be found in the database."
[Certainly sir, I will begin the search. Should I adjust the content of the database for your convenience?]
"Yes. Do that."
Few moments later the files were rearranged and some of the Desktop Interface changed to fit Marcus' preference.
A few seconds later a window popped up and showed the schematics of ZGMF-1017 GINN.
The blueprint of the machine was indeed in the database.
[The schematics of the Mobile suit and other technologies were stored before my instalment sir. Some of the technologies are far more advanced than what I have encountered on the web.]
"I see, I want them sorted and placed in such order that I can see what I need to work on."
[Understood. I will be done shortly.]
As Legion was working on the technology list, Marcus inspected the Mobile suit schematics.
There isn't much he can do at this moment. He doesn't have any spare materials to customise the machine.
All he could do at this moment is to work on the OS.
'Though I do have the sword. If I melt that I will have enough material to improve the rifle. The rifle is a standard edition with ammo as well. I could rework the ammo, making it a higher calibre.'
As he was thinking about this he realised that he has no experience in weaponsmithing or designing. So far all he worked on are machines and OS…
Though he is confident that he could get something out of it. But the issue is…if he fails he doesn't have spare stuff. Not unless he will cheat with the book or his time powers.
He doesn't want to use either of those powers, his Time powers are strictly for work and in emergencies.
'I guess I would need some help from outside.'
Thinking about this he started to think about how to do this.
~~~~~~Later~~~~~~
Three horizontal white portals opened and three people were dropped right out of them.
With a thud, they landed on the grass.
"Oww."
"...What in?"
"..."
""!!!""
At that moment two of them swiftly adjusted as they heard familiar voices!
"Mei?"
"...Kiana?"
Forgetting the fact that there was a third person or that they were in an unknown location. The pair of girls hugged each other tightly as if they hadn't seen each other for some time…
"...Where are we?"
The third one reminded them that they were in a foreign place.
The pair stopped hugging and looked around. What they saw was a suburban area of some sort. The houses are built from bricks with quite a bit of vegetation. This… made them realise that they were in some sort of different place.
"This is not Hyperion." The white-haired girl said with an obvious tone as she looked around.
"Idiot…"
The silver-haired girl rolled her eyes while saying that while the other girl with purplish black-haired helped the silver one to stand up.
"Bronya… it's good to see you."
"...Mei…"
*Gasp*
"I-I can't sense the void! I-I can't sense anything!"
White haired girl, with name Kiana, exclaimed, she had a look of pure horror, she couldn't sense her powers at all!
Now that she said that the other two tried to check theirs…
They all paled as well!
"I can't sense Honkai energy at all…"
"...Yes…I can't feel anything."
The other two said the same. At that moment Mei's and Kiana's clothing shifted. They were no longer in their powered-up form.
"...What is going on!? Such a thing has never happened before!" Kiana exclaimed with unease and almost panic. All the hard work, all the training she did, did it just go out like a puff!?
"...I think… is it because of the location?" Mei chipped in as she started to think.
Her eyes scanned the surroundings. She could see that this is a very peaceful-looking place. Quite homely, she can't see any sort of defensive installation. So no signs of conflicts anywhere.
Why would they appear in such a place?
Eventually, she noticed that there were no people around. Same with the other two they noticed that this place is far too empty…why?
However, soon enough they changed their minds as they saw in the distance a person walking out of his house and starting to walk in their direction.
Mei turned around and looked at the pair. She decided that she will do the talking. Bronya can easily pass as a cold person while Kiana is not that good with males.
"I will talk with him. You two just stay quiet. We need information." The oldest out of three said with a serious voice.
The other two slowly nodded.
Less than two minutes later the teen was in front of them. But from the looks of it, he was minding his business and not paying too much attention to the trio.
"Excuse me! May I ask a few questions?" Mei got the attention of the guy who was passing by.
"Hmm? Sure." He nodded while stopping walking.
"This may sound strange…but can you tell us where we are?" She asked with a slightly embarrassed tone. This was blushing quite a bit.
"Umm? As in where we are right now? The town?" He asked with a slightly confused tone.
"Y-Yes!"
"Sure? I guess… the town we are in at this moment is Maidenwolf, it's an average sized town in a country situated in Eastern Europe. The country is part of the Economical and Political block called the European Union. Did I answer your question?"
The girl slightly nodded her head with an unreadable look on her face. At this moment all three of them were thinking the same thing.
'Where are we!?'
"T-Thank you for answering my weird question." After saying that she didn't know how to proceed or what to ask next!
This was where the guy crossed his arms and looked at Mei and then at the other two.
"You three are not from around here, are you? The closest anime convention happens in Germany. And that is far away. This means that you three are not from around here."
"...Excuse me?"
"I mean the get-up and the hair colours." He chipped in to explain what he meant.
"...We are not," Bronya said with a deadpan voice.
While Kiana crossed her arms, her mouth was twitching, she was thinking that her current clothes are very regular to her, and maybe if she was in her Herrscher form then yes, she can accept this… But not now…she is in a very basic form at this moment!
"So if you two are not going to the anime convention…this means you three are not from around her, and I mean that in the literal sense."
Mei slowly nodded her head. She already concluded that they are most likely in a very different place. The issue is where? And can they go back?
"...Hmm…this is quite convenient. I was looking for some assistance."
"...Assistance?" Mei asked with a confused look.
"Yes, well, I guess that you three know how to fight. But more importantly, saw some impressive powers and things like that? Something a normal person should not see?"
"...Yes…you are correct."
"Great! So you three won't freak out when I tell you that I awakened two powers a few weeks ago."
"Awaken…"
"...Powers?"
This made three of them slightly get on edge out of pure instinct.
"Indeed. You could say that my hobbies manifested in a few forms. For one I can control time, for another I gained a dimension of my own." He explained with an almost nonchalant tone. It was as if he was talking about casual stuff at the dinner table.
"...Huh? Wait….what do you mean control time!?" The oldest of the trio asked him as she calmed down, it appears he won't be transforming into a different form and go and rampage.
"Yes in the literal sense. Like…"
He made himself look older… and Mei that moment shrunk…
"...M-Mei…you…you look so cute!!!" Kiana exclaimed from behind as the Purple-black haired girl realised that she just shrunk…in size…
'What kind of power is this… He…did all that…just like that…this is not Honkai energy…no…'
"...can you turn me back?" Mei asked with a childlike voice… that moment she got embarrassed again. Didn't expect to sound like a small girl.
He didn't answer, instead she just let her grow back to her original size.
"Yes, your three reactions do tell me that you all are used to similar surprises. I do have a proposition, that is if any of you can cook and know technology."
His question made them look at each other, what is he talking about?
"Yes well, my other power is a garage dimension. Where I can keep my stuff or loot… It's quite big, so I need someone who could help me with technology and food."
Now it made some sense, though what will they be getting from this? That is it they even have choices in this matter.
"In turn, you won't need to worry about shelter and food. Oh, and most importantly my Garage exists outside time and space. And it can form links with OTHER times and spaces. So if you are lucky, you might find your way to YOUR world."
Mei's and the other two eyes widened. This sounds…very good…but there has to be something more…this is quite strange…the very first person they meet has such power…
"...Bronya wants to ask if this is not a set-up," Bronya asked him, her deadpan eyes digging into him. She doesn't quite like this place, her powers are off, she is feeling like a proper cripple in this world.
"...Most likely it is. If you ever read a light novel, where one gets his three starting gifts you three would be my last starting gift.
We are most likely dealing with a being who can mess with the very fabric of the space-time continuum, a God? Well, it doesn't matter, what do you say? Join me or try doing things your way?"
