Lucas

Nothing would ever be enough for Lucas. He had just about everything anyone could ask for, a beautiful former model wife, a leisured job in investing. Despite all of his fortune, he felt something was missing, unable to be satisfied by the illusion of material wealth, he desired true, genuine power.

Lucas had asked his boss for another meeting, nothing work related, nothing to update, he just wanted to ask for a promotion again. His boss, Mr. Hughes, had dismissed him, already weary of Lucas' incessant pestering for a promotion.

Defeated, Lucas sank into his office chair. He looks at his phone, a message from his wife, Olivia, on the lock screen reading "Do your best. I love you." Lucas scoffs, how unnecessary for her to show this phony support, as if he, an ambitious man of his caliber, needed any type of support, especially from a failure of a woman like his wife. Granted, she probably just needs the attention, after all, she did survive a shooting at the place where she works.

"Thanks, love you, babe." He responds.

He throws his phone back on his desk, staring off into space. The air gets heavy and thick, his skin begins tingling. A flash and a crack like thunder startles him, in his office a young woman, frizzy hair, and an amazing hip to waist ratio. There seems to be snowflakes on her clothes.

Dumbstruck, Lucas just stares at her.

"Hi, you must be Lucas." She says.

Lucas remains silent.

"My name is Kiyana, I am the Guardian of Earth. The Pantheon has deemed you worthy of the power of the Eternal. Congratulations."

"What the fuck are you talking about?" Asks Lucas.

Kiyana closes her eyes, suddenly opening them again. "It's done. If you feel you need further instruction you can find me in the forest outside of town." She says as she disappears just as dramatically as she appeared.

Lucas looks around in his office. Seems like nothing even happened. He laughs it off, opens the top drawer on his desk, and takes two of the illicitly purchased adderalls he has stashed away.

With a light buzz, he opens up his computer again, to stare at the live investment chart he set up for one of his clients. Lucas looks away, thinking about how he could probably get a promotion if only the investments he makes for his clients had greater growth. He looks back at his monitor, the most recent update shows a massive 20% increase to all of the investments. Lucas sits on the edge of his seat.

"Yes!" He yells. "More!"

Another update, another massive jump. Is this it, is this the power that was bestowed to him? Doubtful, he hopes for a plummet. It does. How much can he control?

"Double your original worth!" He demands.

The feed updates, it spikes back up. Lucas backs away from his computer.

"Unlimited power at your fingertips." A deep voice, Lucas looks around, trying to find the source.

"What? Who is that?" He continues to look around.

"This power that has been gifted to you belongs to the gods." The voice continues.

"Are you a god?" Asks Lucas.

The whole room vibrates, a deep rumble, the laughter of something immense.

"I am so much more than that. You can be too, Lucas. This power that you have, I can teach you to truly use it. All I ask is for you to get rid of someone for me."

Lucas laughs. "You sound like a capable individual, why not get things done yourself?"

"You are a worm with the power of the gods. You believe you have might, you don't even know what true power is, you can't even perceive it. I can guide you, I can give you the universe."

Lucas' sight is altered, he is given vision of the cosmos, their creation, their destruction. None of this impresses Lucas, the voice, sensing Lucas' lack of interest, shifts the images. Now Lucas sits upon a gilded throne, above the world. Tributes are made in his name by those that live beneath him. He is adored like a god.

"Yes!" Yells Lucas.

"All I want is for you to kill this man."

An image flashes through Lucas' mind, the man on the hospital rooftop where his wife works.

Determined, Lucas concedes. "How do I find him?"

Silence.

"Hello?" Lucas waits for a response, nothing.

Lucas sits back on his chair, hoping the voice returns. He begins to hear voices, like a crowd of people. Still alone in his office, he wonders where the voices are coming from. He hears the voice of his secretary, as clear as if she were there in front of him.

"Just two more hours to go. I hope Lucas decides to leave early so I can leave too."

Are those her thoughts he can hear? He raises his head, knowing well where his boss' office is found, the corner office overlooking the river.

"Better get ready, have dinner later today with that whore I met the other day."

That was definitely Mr. Hughes' voice. He can read minds, and apparently Mr. Hughes is having an affair. Lucas smiles, he begins to concoct a plan.

Lucas dismisses his secretary, allowing her to go home early. He sits in his office, concentrating on Mr. Hughes. He observes as his boss finishes his day's work, and begins to make his way to meet his mistress, taking the elevator to the roof.

"Taking the chopper, eh, Mr. Hughes?" Lucas smirks.

Lucas opens his eyes, finding himself on his office rooftop. "I can teleport? Beautiful!"

He watches as the helicopter flies over to another building, a luxurious hotel.

Lucas stands on the edge of the building's roof, taking a step forward, he floats in the sky.

"I can fly!" He yells.

Lucas, usually scared of heights, darts through the air, towards the building Mr. Hughes is now entering. Recognizing the restaurant Mr. Hughes is going to, he teleports inside, taking a seat on the bar.

The place is dimly lit, the perfect place for these fortune 500 douchebags to take their extramarital partners, where they can have an overpriced dinner with no attention drawn to them.

Lucas orders a drink, he watches as Mr. Hughes enters with a girl half his age and takes a seat.

Waiting for an opportune moment, Lucas patiently waits for Mr. Hughes to be left alone. At last, the girl excuses herself, going to the restroom.

Lucas takes advantage of this and takes the seat previously occupied in front of Mr. Hughes.

"Can I help you?" He asks.

"You don't recognize me?" Asks Lucas.

Mr. Hughes takes a moment. "Lucas?" He laughs. "How did you, of all people, get in here?"

Lucas finds the comment amusing. "Your secretary said you would be attending a family gathering when I asked for a meeting with you, Mr. Hughes."

"Is that what you're here for, blackmail?"

Invading his mind, Lucas goes through the motions of how the mind reading system works. Allowing Mr. Hughes' consciousness to overflow him, he seeks information on how to further his ambitions at the expense of his boss' privacy.

"What would your daughter, who looks up to you the way she does, think about her father, as he cheats on her ill mother to mess around with some escort?"

"Have you been stalking me, Lucas."

"You're evading every question I have for you, Mr. Hughes."

Lucas can feel the anger boiling inside his boss.

"Listen here, you little shit." Says Mr. Hughes, "I could end you in ways you couldn't even dream of."

Lucas releases an overconfident laugh, ready to take the next level, he unloads his stream of consciousness into the mind of his boss.

Eyes glazed, sweat pouring down his brow, Mr. Hughes looks up at Lucas. "What are you?" He asks.

"I am in charge now." Asserts Lucas.

---

Lucas looks out the hotel window. Taking control of the company, promoting himself to CEO, he decides the first thing he would do is take care of important business, with the front of a vacation to the Greek isles with his wife.

Olivia walks out of the bathroom, she walks over to him, hugging him from behind as he continues to stare out the window.

"Want to go out for a walk?" She asks.

Eyes still looking towards the horizon, he replies, "I have some things I have to take care of. You go on ahead."

Lucas can feel her disappointment as if it were his own. He doesn't care, he came to Greece with a mission.

After Olivia leaves the room, Lucas walks out to the balcony, taking flight. A few dozen miles away from the resort, Lucas finds a residential compound, one he has been to before.

He lands in front of the front door, opening it and letting himself in. The tacky ancient Greece decoration making him sick, he makes his way to the main living room. Over the fireplace, the painted portrait of a woman dressed in red looks down at him with a disappointed gaze he's far too familiar with.

"Who's there?" The woman from the portrait stands at the top of the stairs, wearing a red silk robe, and at least 20 years older than when the portrait was made.

"Hello, mother." Replies Lucas.

"Lucas, what are you doing here?" She demands.

Lucas teleports right next to her, before she can react, he backhands her across the face, she tumbles down the stairs.

Lucas floats down the stairs, a scared expression on her face, she looks up at him. "Lucas, what-"

"Shut up." Interrupts Lucas. "I just wanted to let you know that, despite your lack of faith in me, I have finally made it."

"What?"

Lucas grabs on to her face, he looks over at the portrait of his mother, the perfect image of her, the woman he remembers from his youth. When he looks back at her, she looks just like she did all those years ago.

"What are you doing?" She asks, trembling.

Lucas slowly spreads her robe open. "I am in charge now."

Lucas walks over to the bathroom, he turns the light on, admiring his physique in the mirror, pleased with his actions.

"Do you plan on fulfilling my request?" He hears the same voice from the day he received his powers.

"I-I was just taking care of a few loose ends." He tries to explain.

The marble bathroom rumbles as the voice chuckles.

"Understandable. Do not forget my one and only request."

"Where can I find that guy?" Asks Lucas.

"It would be easier if you concentrated on the women around him."

"What?" Lucas expects an answer, he gets none.

He tries to think. 'Women around him', what does that mean?

Lucas recalls the day he was gifted with his power, the girl, Kiyana, had said something about being able to find her outside of the city, in the forest.

He looks himself in the mirror, enamored with what he sees, he has already dismissed the voice's wishes.

Lucas then feels something familiar in his stomach, his muscles begin to twitch, his eyes jolting here and there, fear overcomes him. The realization that there are others out there with the same power. The girl that gave him his powers, this man he has to kill, the voice, and then there was the Pantheon the girl mentioned.

He takes a shower, cleansing himself, then walks out of the bathroom, completely naked. His mother, still on the bed, cum dripping out of her pussy, her face swollen, beaten.

He walks over to her, caressing her face, then running his hands all over her body, healing the bruises, mending the bones.

She opens her eyes, surprised to see him, hoping she just had a really bad dream.

"What are you?" She asks, again.

"I am everything you and father wanted me to be." He replies, smirking.

She gets up from the bed, walking towards the bathroom, she looks at herself in the mirror. Her face, younger, her body, younger still.

"How?" She asks, not removing her gaze from herself.

"You seem pleased with the changes I made."

She doesn't know how to respond, she continues to look at herself in the mirror.

"All my life I was made to feel less than. I was indoctrinated with the thought that you and father had achieved in life things I could never amount to."

"Maybe we were wrong."

"You were. You are. Now, I have power the likes of which you and father couldn't even begin to comprehend."

She finally separates her gaze from the mirror. "What will you do with this power?" She asks.

Lucas changes the subject. "Mother, how did father accumulate such wealth?"

She poses in front of the mirror, running her hands through her body, absolutely in love with the regained youth.

"He absorbed the competition." She replies.

Lucas looks at her and smiles.
