Sitting in the back seat of Sebastian's car, Clara could feel the heat emanating from his body. His legs were spread out a little too wide, and they were rubbing against her outer thigh. She tried not to let it affect her, but his arm seemed to graze hers every time the car moved, and that unnerved her a little. They were sitting a little too close if you asked her. 

Clara tried to get away from him, as far as the space could allow, but her brother didn't want to cooperate. He kept on scolding her to stop squirming. She was trying to find a comfortable position that would keep their body parts from touching, what was wrong with that? 

Sebastian was tormenting her, and she's had enough. She elbowed her brother and told him to switch places with her.

‘Are you scared to sit close to me?’ Sebastian whispered in her ear.

Clara's Mystery - Orphan Trilogy

Carmen tried to open her eyes, but it was dark. Something was blocking her view. When she tried to move her arms and legs, they were immobile. ‘Mommy? Daddy?’ she called out. 


‘Hey, she’s awake. Go see what she wants,’ she heard someone say. 


‘So you’re smart, right? If you behave while we wait for your parents to give us the money, we will give you back to them,’ a male voice said. ‘Don’t bother running away, or I will hurt you.’ 


When they removed the covering for her eyes, all she could see was the man’s face covered in a black mask, showing only his eyes and his mouth. What she couldn’t forget was that he had these big, scary, dark brown eyes that glared at her. 


Carmen started shaking as tears fell down her face. She felt scared, but she knew she had to get away, get back to her family. These evil men beat up their driver, so they would probably beat her up, too.
