The soft corner

Although, only the lamps were on and there was no other source of light in the room, she still could see his face which was completely red, indicating that he had been crying nonstop, the overdriven vessels causing redness in his eyes and his permed curly hair was all messed up.

As soon as she saw him, she closed her eyes, letting those welled up tears from earlier flow out one by one, feeling unpleasant to look at her son in this condition while Tae-Hoon grabbed her hand saying multiple sorrys.

"Mom, I will not do that again. I will listen to you. I will do whatever you guys will ask me to, but don't do something like that again." he remembered the moment from earlier, how she slapped herself and blamed herself for his shortcomings.

Due to his sudden grip on her hand, the tray was about to fall but she managed to hold it in its place, opening her eyes and looking at him again. "I swear, I really swear that I will not do anything stupid to stop this marriage again. Please just please talk to me." Jung-Nan gulped, sitting on the bed in front of him.

She uncovered the dish, taking a spoonful of rice, she stretched her hand towards his mouth without saying a single word and without any delay he gobbled that morsel, wiping his tears afterward. She sat beside him and kept feeding him like he was her little baby.

When she was done and was about to stand up Tae-Hoon again held her hands. "Mom beat me, punish me, swear at me but please break this silence." he pleaded with his broken voice, his hoarse voice giving evidence of his swollen vocal cords due to excessive crying.

"Sleep now, tomorrow the tailor will come to get your size for your suit." she placed her right hand on his left cheek just for a few seconds and then went away. No matter how bad the children are, parents have a soft corner for them and that soft corner was witnessed just now by Tae-Hoon.

...

Se-Young was standing in front of her friend, her arms crossed in front of her chest and was tapping her left foot constantly leaning onto her right leg.

Yoon-Hwa scoffed and said, "Even though you have been living with her for two years now but still scared of her and I am just an employee here, if I don't listen to her then I might lose this job. I am not even a head chef like you yet." Yoon-Hwa was justifying herself.

"Besides that, it is good how she cares about you. You would not listen to me and now see, at least you have taken the medication." Yoon-Hwa blinked her eyes twice tilting her head, anticipating that her friend would let this pass.

"Oh no, no, no, no, so you are saying that talking about how I don't take care of my health and that too behind my back is the right thing to do." she gave her friend a 'so done' look.

"Tsk, you will understand if you pay attention to the right thing. You are looking at the fact that I backbit you but you are not looking at the fact that I care for you and so does she, we want you to stay healthy." Yoon-Hwa rolled her eyes.

Se-Young sighed. "Talk to yourself, hypothyroidism and obesity. Have you consider taking complete treatment." Se-Young clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"So what you want me to do? not to tell Mrs. Shim about your carelessness. Ok, I will not. I will not care for you anymore, you can take care of yourself." she pushed Se-Young aside and left to do her work.

"What you just said, that does not even make any sense." Se-Young shouted.

"You started this." Yoon-Hwa shouted back, making Se-Young ruffle her own hair in annoyance.

The newbie chef was passing by to check ingredients within the refrigerator and saw her messed up hair and got startled. Se-Young flinched and set her hair in embarrassment while clearing her throat.

That newbie just went away awkwardly looking here and there. "Oh God, why do I embarrass myself always like this always." she mumbled to herself and went to do her work as well.

...

Jung-Nan's mood was somewhat stable today after last night, but still, it did not mean that all the things were going to be smooth as of then. She had gathered everyone in the living room as the tailor was on his way.

"Mom, I don't want to make things awkward here and neither I will be attending the wedding. So, I will go to my room now." Ji-Hoon was clearly not planning to see the wedding of his brother with the girl he wanted to be with. Tae-Hoon just gulped, lowering his head as he decided not to talk back.

Min-Hoon stood up and was about to start his lecture about how he should act mature and only one fool in the house was enough for causing troubles but Jung-Nan shook her head halting him. "Ji-Hoon..." She cooed his name as hesitation was in her eyes.

"Please, don't make a mess of this household. I... I beg you, please bear with this situation, bear with me please." she swallowed and was looking in his eyes with all the love and sorrow she held.

"Mom..." he said and before he could protest anymore, she cut him off. "Please" she pleaded once again at which Ji-Hoon sighed and gave up sitting on the sofa beside Dong-Hoon.

Min-Hoon and Jung-Nan also settled onto the sofa in front.

...

"Now how much time will you take to hug me huh." Se-Young said squinting her eyes and puckering her lips.

"No, go away. I am not your friend." Yoon-Hwa was playing hard to get while wearing her coat.

"Come on, I said sorry multiple times already." she again pleaded while depressing her eyebrows with sadness.

"Please, guys help me. This wild animal is annoying me for quite..." Yoon-Hwa said with her voice a little bit raised and Se-Young widened her eyes and put her left hand onto Yoon-Hwa's mouth to stop her from blabbering more nonsensical stuff.
