Chapter 6

"You have to love yourself first before you give love to others"

I posted it on my Instagram account while wearing a shade.

"My brother is also wearing a shade this morning, weird cause it’s raining, wanna know why?" Keall ask.

"Because Brick and my Brother fight last night, and I know why!"

" Sometimes I doubt it if you are straight, you're like a chic who knows every rumor!" Kayen said.

"He’s my brother so of course, I know about it, duh! Can you think sometimes!"

And then Kayen hit his head.

"Stop guys, I’m not in the mood to meddle in between your fight!" I ask.

"I’m just amazed how my brother stands for you Glimm! He’s not like that"

"So you are really becoming a Glimdrei shipper?" Kayen said.

"Yeah! Glimm will become my sister in law hahaha!"

"Funny!" I said.

"Talking of the boys but without Andre" Kayen murmured while looking in their direction.

I am not looking.

"You know what, I'm gonna go to the library, see you later" I bid goodbye.

I can sense Brick is looking at me as I leave the cafeteria.

My heart can be easily swept away by him that is why as much as possible I am distancing myself away from him.

I sit on the most corner side of the library.

Alone.

I can't always run away from him.

I need a time killer.

Maybe it’s not a bad choice to join Keall's band this time.

Brick doesn't like it when I am with the band, because of his attitude, he would never agree to let me join a band where I am the only girl.

WEEK LATER

I have not heard from him since our last encounter, I tried my best to avoid him.

These are the longest days that we have never communicated. I deactivated all of my social media accounts and even change my number.

Kayen and Keall help me a lot to spend my time without thinking too much.

I am still heartbroken.

I already joined the band.

Keall and Kayen are very supportive.

This weekend will be my first gig with the band.

I meet new friends.

Shiro, a Japanese IT student who plays the keyboard.

Zen, play the bass, and Cade, the lead vocal. I never meet Cade because currently, he is out of town.

We are on the football field, I am playing the guitar and Keall is playing on his electronic drum.

The morning breeze, early sunlight, and the sound of our music are so relaxing.

"OUCH!" Keall shouted.

He was hit by a ball.

"Sorry brother!" Andre shouted back.

What a good way to ruin our mood.

As I look in their direction while Keall throws the ball back to his brother, I can't believe I am searching for Brick's presence while my heart is beating fast.

There he is, focuses on his early morning routine. He did not even bother to look at us.

"Stop looking at him Glimm, your obvious" Kayen observed.

"Why who is he?" Shiro said.

"The love of her life" Kayen answered.

"Excuse me, can you use the past tense" I reply.

"Oh, men there is Cade!" Zen shouted.

And we all look to where is Zen is pointing.

"Yow! Welcome back, Cade!" Keall shouted with full of excitement that even the other students stop and look at who is walking.

"Wow! He is so damn freaking gorgeous"

Kayen said.

And Keall taps her and cover her eyes.

"Don't you dare say that!" Keall is annoyed.

He is really a gorgeous man, I can't believe he is our lead vocal. He is like a Hollywood star already, his aura and the way he walks, carry a lot of confidence!

"Hey!" He greeted and hugged each of his long-time no see bandmates.

"Man! We miss you!" Zen said.

"By the way, we have a new member, this is Glimm, our guitar and this is Kayen, Keall's girlfriend" Shiro explained.

"Girlfriend?" Keall said.

" No way" Kayen also denies.

"That’s good, I am so happy for you Keall. And nice to meet you Kayen and Glimm" Cade said.

Even his voice is so captivating.

"Stop drooling Kayen" Keall jokes.

While we are busy having the conversation, I accidentally glance in Brick's direction who is looking at us, I recognize the way he looks at us. He’s mad and jealous but he looks away as I caught him.

Deep inside, I feel a bit of happiness.

He still cares.

And I do still care.

Stupid.

While I am reorganizing my things in my locker, Andre suddenly appears.

"Long time no see," he said.

I ignore him and continue on what I am doing.

"Keall told me that you finally decided to join them and that you will be playing this weekend, I can't wait" he continues to talk.

"Can you please even give me one word, I look like I’m talking to myself" Andre said.

"Can't you leave me alone?" I finally speak up. He is so damn annoying right now

"I told you, I am serious! I want to be friends with you, I already ask permission he said he don't care.

Ouch.

"Why would you ask him? I'm not his property?"

"Just to clear things out! Besides you owe, I punched him that night"

"Why would you punch your friend just because of me, a stranger to you!"

"Because what he did to you is unacceptable"

"I don't need your pity!"

"Look, can you just allow me to be your friend?"

"Do what you want! You are annoying!"

"So that is a yes!"

"Whatever Andre, I still have something to do so please, excuse me!"

"Yeah, see you later!" He said with a smile.

WEEKEND GIG

Wow! The first few hours that I can feel a total rush and excitement.

This is my first time playing my guitar in front of many people.

"Hey Glimm, relax!" Cade cheer me up.

"Just rock the stage and own it Glimm" Zen added.

"After our set, I'm sure! A lot of guys will be asking for your number haha" Shiroh concluded.

"My brother won't allow it haha!" Keall said.

"What a corny shipper!" Kayen rebuts his statement.

As everyone is preparing I notice Cade who is talking to someone and is pissed.

Is he okay?

He has a sudden change of mood.

"Here we go for our first set!" Keall said.

The stage is enough for a five-band member. Smokes and dancing led lights, everyone.

People are busy drinking, talking, flirting, and thinking.

Everyone seems to have a good time.

I stop looking and prepare to tune my instrument.

Cade help me since it’s my first time.

I don't know what force me to look at the last table in the row but I hope I did not look.

There they are. Andre and their friends.

Brick is there, of course along with Ivana and her squad. They are in the VIP table.

Rich kid of course, well Brick is our Councilor's son and most of their friends came from a family of good fortune, Keall told me about them especially Ivana, a celebrity's daughter.

"Andre said he invited them" Keall whisper.

"Oh!"

"Don't be distracted" Cade taps my head.

"Don't touch her Cade, my brother is watching" Keall joke around which made us feel at ease.

"And her ex-boyfriend" Shiroh added.

"Haha, lame. Then I should be sweeter to you to kill them with jealousy, right Glimm?" And then Cade laugh, we all did.

Keall starts the lead.

Zen strums his bass.

Cade started to own the stage.

Everyone starts to greet us with their shout and claps.

Except for Brick who is busy talking to Ivana.

Forget it Glimm.

I started to strum my guitar.

Maybe I have to rebuild myself.

Focus more on what I should be.

I should start loving myself for a while.

Playing with them brought me to a new world.

It’s okay, I feel okay.
