With a new night at hand, Jamal could feel the sweat evaporating around his skin as the steam raised into the air. His current training regiment was coming to an end, as he blew steam into the cooler air. It seemed as if the fight from yesterday envigorated the rest of the group, as he recalled them with more passion than ever. If they were genuinely going to defeat Youden, they would have to use every single ability they had. Including the Sera woman, Jamal found out to still be knocked out but breathing earlier today. Alice's true power was still yet to be known but with some subset of power to heal was impressive in itself.
Just as the steam was beginning to fade away, Jamal heard a creak and turned around to see a shadow walk toward him. If it wasn't for the shape of the figure, he would have made a move and attacked, except that the person became more visible just before that happened.
"Hops? What are you doing up so late?" the older man was confused, seeing how tired Hops was.
"I need to start training some more. If Alice is going to be the one protecting me, then what am I?" Hops stuttered, his eyes barely open. "I need to reach my limits."
"Yeah, about that. I don't think you're going to be reaching anywhere near that in your condition." Jamal could tell, "Let's go to sleep, so we can both be at our peak."
Strangely enough, this caused Hops to chuckle as he dug his feet into the ground. Jamal wasn't going to take this man so seriously in the state he was in, as the man was barely conscious at this point. Just as he was starting to walk towards the building, Jamal could hear the man's ragged breathing before Hops began to lumber towards him. Not even a few steps away from him did Jamal watch Hops slowly raise his legs up.
"I'm not doing any type of training with you, and that includes any form of stretching." Jamal laughed off, just before Hops slammed his leg to the man's unguarded side.
Jamal himself was momentarily shocked by the power, as he gasped for air. His feet actually slid several meters across the pocketed-earth courtyard. Something was different about this power from Hops, as Jamal stared back at Hops. The man wasn't even looking at him, barely upright before crouching down to pounce towards him. Moving towards the center of the courtyard, Jamal just had several yards to work with before Hops leaped across the space.
Dirt flung a few feet into the air, as Jamal was within several inches of an approaching drive from the other young adult. Just as he was going to start his counter barrage, Hops somehow went past Jamal and collapsed back onto the ground. That went better than expected for him, Jamal shrugged off, as he nudged Hops with his foot. He could see the man attempting to claw at the ground, but even that was futile.
"You think Alice would like to see yourself in your current state? I'm no expert on health, but I can say that you're only hurting yourself in the long run." Jamal didn't even turn to face him, as he made his way back towards the entrance of their building, "I'm sure you can get back inside once you figure out what you need to understand. We all have much to learn if we're going to defeat Youden and bring back balance, and actually having common sense would be a start."
Jamal didn't even hear a sound back in return, as it probably wasn't even audible from this distance as he reentered the building. He'll be fine, they all would be. Hops just needed to know not to push himself and understand that his limit was going to be surpassed by being exhausted. It was going to have to be more than that.
