Long before man began to date time and seasons, in a realm that looked just like the universe, dwelled humans with great strength like that of the gods. They were so powerful and did all kinds of evil. Babies were slaughtered and their blood was drunk like wine. Men lived like savages, and so a neighbor you talked with in the morning could be the next meal for dinner. The lawlessness was consuming and tiring.
Then came the rise of Nyambe - a king that has witnessed enormous evil but now seeks peace and tranquil from life. He was dissatisfied with the way men lived and wanted rest, joy, peace. So he used his powers to create the land of Malunga, a place in present day East Africa, where no evil existed. A land of peace and beauty. A land where nature sits on its throne and beauty sprouts out like the morning dew.
A land where the sun rose over the horizon of the hills and splashes its beauty across the wildlife and into the hearts of men. The soil was rich and succulent and so it gave birth to bountiful harvest and created joyous seasons of celebrations.
Nyambe was not left without opposition as Buwana the three-horned and three-eyed demon along with his two sons tried to invade the peace of Malunga to defy the purity of the heart of men and instil the agony of evil.
Nyambe and the guardian of peace - Ruhu fought Buwana and his sons, breaking one of Buwana’s horns before holding them captives in large bottles for centuries in the Stone Wall of Secrets. This is where history is stored in scrolls made of animal skin. And Ruhu remained the guardian of all truth and in charge of the prisoners until the unavoidable happened.
But they say, evil always has a way of invading the land of humans and Nyambe is not ignorant of the truth, and so is Ruhu the guardian. But who knows the day and season, when evil will rise again, perhaps sooner than expected or perhaps Buwana’s one eyed horn lying buried in the woods north of the Stone Wall of Secret has the answer to the coming contention for the land of Malunga.
