Malik looked around to see where the room they held their equipment in was.
When he saw a room with police suits and guns, he took a peek to see if anybody was in.
He didn't see anybody so he entered the room without making any noise.
He closed the door behind him and walked around trying to find where they hid their riot shields.
There were many shelfs with boxes full of documents on them, which hindered the view, so Malik had to walk in between the alleys to find what he was looking for.
He scanned the shelfs in the first alley and didn't find anything so he went to the next one.
He saw at the end a shelf with guns, bullet proof vest and most importantly a shield.
Since it was all there, Malik went to the shelf and picked out a vest that suited him. A chest plate kind of armor would be good since most monsters in the beginning were going to attack randomly and the place he had most chance of being hit in was the chest.
Malik went a bit to the left where the shields were and picked one out, but when he did a cocking noise could be heard.
"Hands up! Who are you, what are your intentions?" said a police officer with a feminine voice.
'My luck was too good. It was about time it came back to bite me in the butt.'
Malik calmly put his hands in the air while turning toward the officer.
"Don't do anything reckless or I'll have to shoot."
Malik looked the officer right in the eyes.
"I'm a consultant from the other station. I just came here to inspect your equipment, making sure everything is in order." said Malik confidently.
"A consultant? With a sword on his waist? You think I'll believe that?"
"I had to try at least, didn't I?" said Malik jokingly.
"Mister, put your hand on the back of your head and calmly lay on the floor."
Malik did what she asked and laid on the floor.
The officer approached him while still pointing her gun at Malik.
She kneeled at his height to cuff Malik.
She turned a bit to access the cuffs attached to her waist but the second she did so she was met by a powerful blow.
Her gun was knocked out of her hand.
Aargh.
She screamed out in pain.
There were only a minute left.
Malik stood up and picked a shield.
He made sure he still had his sword and dashed out of the storage room.
"Someone, there's a thief here!" screamed out the female officer.
'Shit!'
Malik could hear her scream and so could the other cops.
He had a vest and a shield but he didn't want to waste their durability to stop bullets.
Malik was in the alley in the back when he was met face to face with two other cops.
They immediately pointed their gun at him.
"Hands in the air!" screamed one.
Malik put the shield to his face's height and walked sideway until he reached the bathroom.
He quickly went in one of the stall and locked himself up.
There was about fifteen seconds before the first trial happened.
'15, 14, 13...'
"Get out of the stall or we'll shoot!"
'10, 9, 8...'
"I'm coming out, I'm coming out."
Malik unlocked the door.
'4, 3, 2...'
He opened the door and said out loud.
"Bye bye!"
'0'
Tzooum.
Blank.
It was the only thing one could see the first time they went in the other world.
A giant void of nothingness.
And then, everything appeared.
A giant planet, maybe the size of the milky way was created.
On the horizon, one could see many giant figures moving around and talking.
Those were the gods that gave blessings.
They were the one who enjoyed and created this horrendous game, only for their own pleasure.
It was the first time Malik saw this scene, thought.
But he quickly understood.
This scene, even if everyone saw it, was wiped out of everyone's memory.
If not, the living being playing in this game would probably team up to beat those giant gods who made their lives that way.
There wouldn't be any war or strife.
No greed or big combat over who gets what because everyone would want to go back and they would all know that beating these giants would help them do it.
But this time was different.
One of the said gods gave Malik an unimaginably powerful blessing. Not only did he go back in time, he could also remember everything now. This scene was now embedded in his memory. At first he prepared to better survive the other world and the trials but now he knew he prepared to avenge his race, to avenge humanity.
He now had a mission far better than surviving. He would go to the top and take down those deities who thought they could play with life itself.
That sight disappeared, but he remembered it now.
He was now in a room fully coated in white.
Malik did a quick head count to see how many they were.
'Around sixty of us. But I don't remember anyone's face. They're not the same people as the last time.'
With him were another 59 humans for a grand total of 60.
Most people were on the ground on their back or butt.
They were all teleported based on how they were before and since most of them were either sitting or sleeping, most of them were in these positions.
They all stood up, in shock, while looking around confused.
And it appeared.
A big silhouette shaded in black.
It looked like it was made out of mist.
It's arm were human like but were so skinny you could see the bones.
His face was hidden but you could guess it had a skeleton head or something along those lines.
It started speaking with a deep voice, which sounded like a demon.
"Welcome... to the first trial... humans."
The eldritch looking silhouette spoke with pauses in the middle of it's sentence, which made it sound more like a reaper than a messenger.
'Yes, it had been long since I saw these guys.'
The messengers were the equivalent of an angel of death.
They carried the will of the gods and ended life at a notice.
They were the one who gave the first information and made sure everyone understood the rules of this new world.
Everyone was now looking at the silhouette, mostly with fear. No one could blame them, thought, since the thing really did look like death itself.
One of the person in the room screamed out.
"Are we dead? Am I dead?"
Another one continued with:
"What's this, is it a prank? I have a business trip to take in twenty minutes!"
Almost everyone one was questioning what was happening. Only two others and Malik were assessing the situation and adapting to the new reality.
"All of you... shut up! You have been sent to the... first trial. I will now explain to you... what you must do to survive." said the black silhouette with a dreadful voice.
