Julia opened a book on the table. The title was 'Human Response to External Magic Induction'. She flipped through the book looking for something. Finding nothing, she closed it and put it aside. She grabbed another book, following the same procedure again.
"Frank, get me more books," she said to Frank who was diligently staring at her the whole time.
"That was the last one," Frank said standing up.
"We went through all of them, yet there is nothing," Julia whined as Frank put the books back on the shelves. "I got it!!! Let's go to the library tomorrow!! I'm sure Lucifer can find us something useful."
"We should just let the priests do what they are doing," Frank said, looking down at Julia from behind her chair. "Butting in would just be a nuisance to them."
"But Miss Murray has been sleeping since yesterday and is showing no signs of waking up," Julia said sadly. "I want to help as much as I can. She is our teacher after all."
Frank looked at Julia somewhat annoyed. Why was she so worried about that old hag? It wasn't like she was dead.
"I have a better idea," Frank said, suddenly picking up Julia. "How about we turn in for the day?"
Julia muffled as Frank pushed her face down while carrying her like a sack of potatoes.
They reached Julia's room. Frank safely threw her on the bed and climbed after her.
"It's my time now," he said and tried to snuggle up to her. But Julia firmly pushed him away and stood up back up.
"Not now, Frank, I'm worried!" Julia yelled, visibly angry at being involuntarily transported.
"Why?" Frank asked.
"What do you mean why?" Julia asked as she walked over to him. "Our teacher might die like this! And you're asking why?"
"So what if she dies?" Frank asked with a blank expression.
Julia felt a chill as she saw Frank's deep blue eyes stare right through her.
Frank was very angry since yesterday. Just someone else trying to take Lia away was annoying enough but now she herself was also neglecting him because the so-called teacher was ill. Why does it matter to her if the governess dies? Why did she reject him? Is she sick of him now? Did she know about the engagement too? Is she going to leave him once Ignis returns? Was she just lying all the time? But her light was white. Why was she like this? Should he lock her up somewhere until he's sure of his position? But she wouldn't like it.
Julia took a step back reflexively. She didn't mean to, her body just moved on its own.
Frank saw it.
'Ah, she is afraid of me.'
'But my Lia shouldn't be afraid of me. She won't be perfect then.'
'What should I do? What should I do to stop it? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What?'
Tears rolled down Frank's eyes as his mint hair started to glow. Frank took an ounce of mana and plunged it inside his stomach. A gush of blood came out of his mouth as he coughed.
Julia was frozen at the sight.
"Do you hate me now? It hurts, Lia. It hurts so much," Frank cried as he crouched on the bed in the pool of his blood.
"F... Frank!!!! What happened to you?!? Why is this... There is so much blood... What should I do?!?!? Why didn't you tell me that you were in so much pain?!!" Julia screamed as she leaped to Frank and hugged him. "What should I do?! Why are you in pain?!"
"Do you hate me?" Frank asked looking up at her with a bloody mouth.
"What are saying?!?! How could I ever hate you?!?" Julia said, crying and rubbing her thumb on his cheeks to remove the blood. "Don't speak!! You were in so much pain and I just kept...."
As the maids rushed in from the door after hearing Lia's scream, Frank tightly hugged her back. Nuzzling at her waist through the soft fabric of her frock, he smiled.
'Yes, how could you ever hate me? I won't let you,' he thought.
Evelyn was pacing up and down in her father's study.
After Isaac's visit yesterday, she asked her father to cancel the engagement. Her father agreed more easily than she had imagined.
But something else was wrong now.
She didn't know what was wrong but it was an unpleasant feeling as if she was missing something. What it was? She, of course, had no idea.
She remembered Isaac again. He seemed quite hurt when she told him not to show his face there again. But what did it matter to her? That sorry excuse of an asshole having her precious Hani's face was a sight she didn't want to ever witness again.
She sat down and started to think.
"Why did you start writing a novel, Frank?" Jia asked.
"Someone I know told me I had a way with words that helped them escape this world for some time," Frank answered.
Jia smiled and said," It's true that you have a way with words. It feels as if I'm living in the novel and watching it all unfold."
Frank chuckled and said," Is that so? So how's life in there?"
Evelyn opened her eyes. While spacing out thinking she accidentally fell asleep.
She remembered a pleasant memory.
She looked out of the window, the huge estate was there and the sky was melancholy with forming clouds.
"Well, it's quite lonely in here," she said.
A tall hooded figure stared down at the capital square. Pale white hands crept out of the black robes and held out a book.
"Some cross-dressing idiot left quite the useful items buried around here, haha," the voice came from the hood. "
"How should I do it? The bombs first or the monsters?" the figure pondered with joy. "Hmm, I know, both at the same time."
The hooded figure giggled and giggled as it stared down at the bustling town.
"It's best when beautiful things get destroyed."
And the figure just vanished into thin air.
