CHAPTER 2: ~Jade's POV~

I see my mother's silhouette as she closes the door behind her, I need to change my clothes and get ready for the day. I also need to finish the book as soon as possible, so that I can start learning real magic.

After I finished dressing myself in a green tunic given to me by lady Demetric, I head downstairs to the dining room.

In my way downstairs, I ran into my brother Cedric, he has slightly shorter hair than my father but the same colour, whilst his eye colour are the same as mother's.

"Where are you going to brother??" I ask, 'this is the first time in a long time that I see my brother taking the stairs.' I think to myself as I try to remember the last time this happened.

"Father asked for my presence not to long ago. Besides not everyone is a sleepy head like you." Cedric responded with a smile on his face, "Lady Demetric didn't wake me earlier!!" I stated face red with embarrassment.

"Yeah, yeah, you would have totally woke up earlier." brother Cedric said with a sly face; However, it quickly turned into a serious one "I would love to talk some more, but I need to go to father's study.".

"Okay, fine." I responded, leaving my brother behind as I walk towards the dining room, it wasn't that far away from the stairs.

"Have a good meal." Cedric says behind me, "Thanks, you too." I say at first with a smile, before realizing what I have just done, brother started snickering behind me, 'I will not hear the end of this!' I thought as I fastened my pace, with a tomato red face.

As I entered the dining room, I went directly to the water basket to wash my face, "Well well well well, look who finally decided to join us." I heard from the table, it was none other than my sister Rhea.

She had the same vivid green eyes as father as well as his hair color; However, her hair was smooth and long like mother's.

"Why is your face so red?" sister asked, after looking me over, "I was really hungry! So I ran over!" I say in a flourish of words.

"Did mom have a talk with you?? About our night sessions??" I asked to change the subject, sister kept staring at me for a few seconds, probably forming a sentence to rebuke me politely.

"Yeah, we did have a talk about them. Although the illusion school is the easiest and safest magic there is, with your abnormal amount of mana, there could be some dire consequences to using magic." sister said with a straight face.

"Even in the company of a beautiful and powerful master like me around." said sister while puffing her chest, "Yeah, I guess." I said with a dejected smile.

"But mom told me that she will teach me magic, if I read this book." I said whilst retrieving the book from my dimension pocket. "Oh I remember that book, mom gave me the same when I was 10, huh..." Rhea said with a pensive look.

"What is it ??" I asked, "Nothing, just ... nevermind." she said indecisive about what to do, "Wwwhhhaat?? now I want to know even more!!! tell meee!!" I said almost pleadingly.

"It's just a theory, and besides you wouldn't understand it anyway." Rhea stated, "Yes I will!! Try me!!" I shouted, "Fine, just stop shouting. What do you know about our family??" Rhea asked.

"Well, I know that we were nobles in Westeros, but we learned the magical way, and we were persecuted for it, so we decided to run to Esos, where being a magician isn't something bad." I said from the bits of information I had.

"Yes that's the main gist of it, but we weren't just any nobles, you see we were friends with the Targaryens at the time, we were living in the storm's land, where we had a beautiful castle fit for kings 'Griffinroost'."

"As such we had many enemies who sought to destroy us, both fron the outside and the inside. You see grandpa's father fell in love with this woman, a love so strong that he didn't care about her status as a peasant girl."

"But great grandmother was not a normal peasant, no far from it, she was a magician a powerful, it is unfortunate that we don't know just how strong she was." Sister said.

'So we don't know that she is strong either. ' I contemplate to myself. "..and she bore him a boy, that proved himself to be a worthy heir to Griffinroost, and to great-grandfather."

As Rhea was telling me the story, Lady Demetric brought me breakfast, which I started eating whole heartedly, whilst listening attentively to sister Rhea.

"She made her husband promise that she and she alone will teach their son, and that they be designated a room as well as being left alone in said room. And so the days went on, and she managed to teach him everything she knew about magic."

"But fearing that she didn't have enough time to teach him everything she knew, and so she wrote what she didn't teach him into books. That where hidden in a dimensional ring, where only a descendant of ours could read from it."

"Grandfather was growing stronger and smarter than any other man, leading to his nephews and uncles becoming jealous of him, and later on pushed them to monitor his every step by putting spies throughout the castle."

"Grandfather did a mistake though, in a day he went from a genuis young lord, to the worst criminal in all of Westeros. And tha..." Rhea was saying before she was interrupted by brother Louis, who kicked the door of it's hinges.

"What are you looking at??" he said strongly annoying Rhea, "Did you have to do that??" she asked, "Yeah brother, she was just getting at the reason why we came here to Esos." I said slightly dejected as the story was interrupted.

"Oh, that stupid story." Louis said, "it's not stupid, and why are you even here?" Rhea asked angered that she was ignored, "I asked him to join me for breakfast, I didn't know you were still here." a man in his late thirties responded to the question from behind Louis.

"Although I have to agree, you didn't need to break the door." he added, "who cares they can just fix it with their magic." Louis said with disdain in his voice.

"Uncle Dramon!!" I shouted with joy as soon as I heard his voice and sprinted towards him, wrapping his lower half in a big hug "you came back, why didn't you send me any letter? Did you find anything good?? For how long are you going to stay??" I fired question after question.

"I plan on staying for a few days, I was quite busy in the voyage; as such I didn't find the time to write any letters; However, I found a lot of good stuff, and I brought you some gifts they are in your mother's hands." Uncle Dramon stated, "Nooooo! Not mom, she will never give us the cool gifts." My sister and I said almost instantly and in unison.

"Come on Jade, let's go to the library." Rhea said after a few mere seconds passes by, "Bye uncle!!" she said not sparing a look at brother, while dragging me helplessly behind her.

"But my food!" is the only thing I could say, whilst being dragged away.

Sister and I soon reached the library, it was calm and quiet, as soon as we stepped inside, my sister finally let go of me and I could ask her "Why did you drag me her?? I haven't finished my food yet!!".

"You want me to finish the story or not?" sister ask me with a leveled voice. "Yes, but.." she then interrupts me saying, "No buts or ifs. Or no more story, understood.", "Yes m'am." I answered dejected.

"Good, now where was I. Oh yes, so grandfather in a day lost everything, his father died and he was to become the new lord of house Connington.

However, when he went to prove his loyalty to the lord paramount at that time, a marriage was proposed to him. Grandfather refused, and so he didn't get the full hospitality of the Baratheons.

Seeing as how he and his men were treated grandfather left for his castle, fearing for any unwanted aggravation from his part. However, on his way back 20 strong men wearing storm's end armour attacked him, he only had 10 men with him and some servants with him.

As his men were dying next to him, he let his anger get the better of him, so he used a powerful electric spell and fried the attackers, as they died one after the other and so did his men.

Soon the only people alive were him 2 of his men and 2 of his servants, the men in their fear accidentally took their own lives, whilst the servants whom in the confusing of the battle sneaked away, ran back to Griffinroost .

Once the news of what happened reached grandfather's uncle Damon, ravens were sent through Westeros to all it's lords, as not only did grandfather wield witchcraft, but he also killed Baratheon men, and the only survivors, outside of grandfather, were in Damon's hand.

He saw it as a golden opportunity to take the lordship from grandfather and cast him away,

and so he went to the Baratheons and proved his loyalty by marrying a 13 year old.

Persecuted by everyone in the land and not having many allies to turn to, Grandfather sent a letter to the Targaryens. But he was only meet with silence.

Seeing no other choice he decided to run to Esos, and formed a guild where in one of his missions he met grandmother and they had three children:

Dad, a magus in the arts of conjuration.

Auntie Marry, an arch-magus in the arts of destruction.

And Uncle Dramon, who was born with no mana." Rhea said proudly, leaving me in a pensive state of mind at the story.
