Chapter 1 The Beginning to the End of the Solar System

"Beep, beep, beep, incoming radiation detected, beep beep beep, incoming radiation detected, a star is nearing the end of its cycle, countdown for two weeks has been activated until you are in imminent danger. Please evacuate the galaxy."

"Computer zoom in on the star that's about to end," Ihloi commanded to the computer.

There was a beep as the computer zeroed in on the star.

"Oh my, I must alert the King at once," Ihloi jumped up shouting to the captain of the ship.

He took off sprinting down the corridor. That was not just any star that was about to end its cycle, it was "The Star" of this galaxy!

A team that consisted of roughly ten thousand males along with him and the High King have been traveling through the Solar System for the last six months looking for a source of water to bring back to Kosea. (Ko say)

Ever since the water tribe had vanished over forty six million years ago, the city of Kosea have been the main supplier of water to all the tribes in the galaxy. Kosea is made up of mostly rivers, and mountainous regions covered in ice caps in the far northern region of all the galaxies. The main magic source for the citizens of Kosea is Ice Magic. Every year Kosea would melt the ice and bring fresh water to all the tribes around the galaxy.

However this year the High King decided to go out in search of a new water source, hence how they ended up in the Solar System that belonged to the human race. They have been scouting the only known planet that contained a fresh body of water, known to their race, and that was a planet called Earth.

Hearing the news about the Sun ending its cycle in the Solar System was great news for them. It meant their search will finally be over and they will be able to return home soon. Earth as they know it will cease to exist, so the humans of Earth won't be needing their water source. They can just gather it up and take it back to Kosea.

He picked up his pace wanting to let the King know the great news. Rounding the corner he stopped in front of a huge titanium door encrusted with hundreds of precious gems and stones from all over the universe, he coughed clearing his throat before rapping on the King's door to his office, "knock knock knock."

"You may enter," the King's voice called out from within. He opened the door and stepped into the King's office.

"Why must you bother me now, I am rather busy trying to fill out these order forms for the next shipment of water. As if we weren't stressed and pressed for time as it is trying to make what little we have left last until next season," the High King," muttered with exhaustion clear in his voice.

"Have you found a water source yet? Or did you come in here to hound me again about finding a mate for the bazillionth time already?" He growled in frustration scratching away with his quill.

Ihloi cleared his throat nervously, the King seemed to be in a rather bad mood today, "As a matter of fact your Highness it's both."

The King's quill paused mid sentence, he looked up raising his brow in curiosity.

"We just received information about unusually high energy readings coming from the Solar System. The sun is steadily increasing in temperature in twenty four hour intervals, at this rate it will soon affect the planet called Earth, the one that the humans reside on. In two weeks time in human calculations the Earth will begin to see solar storms erupting."

"The solar storms will cripple their power grids, jam their radio communications, and bathe the airline crews in dangerous levels of radiation while knocking critical satellites off kilter. If the temperature from their Sun continues to increase, the solar storms will escalate into a Solar Flare and or could potentially end its cycle which can destroy their entire planet along with the entire solar system and wipe out the human race. I thought maybe if the Earth was destroyed then we could possibly take their water supply when that happens since they won't be needing it anymore as well as other resources we happen upon."

"Is there anything that can be done to stop the Sun from destroying the Water planet?" The King inquired as his royal advisor huffed and puffed, from having traversed a great distance across the mothership to bring forth the dire news to him. He straightened up, finally gaining his composure,

"unfortunately not Sire, I have calculated every route possible, but the outcome all ends the same. The Sun is running out of energy to burn. It has been for the last million years. This would explain why the Earth has been through several ice ages. The Sun is dying, it is on its last leg, there is no stopping it.

The King nodded continuing to silently scratch away with his quill for a couple minutes. Finishing the first stack of order forms, the High king finally laid down his quill, looking up he heaved a heavy sigh before speaking,

"We both know perfectly well that if a star is running out of energy then there is absolutely nothing you or I can do to stop the Sun. You know as well as I do that all stars eventually will come to an end. Stars that are heavier and bigger than eight times the mass of the Sun end their lives very suddenly everyday. When they run out of fuel, they swell into red supergiants. Then they blow themselves apart into a huge supernova explosion. The stardust from this explosion will eventually form new planets and stars. This is the way of the stars. We can't interfere with the life of a star."

Ihloi nodded in agreement. "I know we can't change the fate of a star but Sire, I was thinking, you haven't found a mate yet. maybe when we were on Earth gathering water and resources you could also search for a mate. We can't let the human race die out before you've had a chance to look for a mate among them. You even said so yourself there isn't a single female in our fleet of ships or any of the other tribes that you fancy. The human race is your last chance to find a mate before they all perish from the Sun. We need a Queen so you can acquire an heir and secure your position for the throne once and for all. We also need a Queen to help repopulate our female population. We are down to only three hundred and forty two females left in all of the tribes combined!

The King pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration, he was getting tired of hearing his advisor urging him to find a mate at every opportunity he got. He knew the situation for him to remain on the throne was hanging on the balance of him finding a mate, but there wasn't a single female he fancied. His advisor continued not paying attention to the scowl on his face,

"The city of Kosea (ko say) only has a total of eleven females in the city. Without a Queen our race will surely die out alongside the humans."

Walking up to one of the high backed cushioned arm chairs in the King's office, Ihloi chose a seat near the King and took it upon him to help himself to a tray of what looked like spoiled eggs and a pot of green sea sludge tea. Taking a bite of the egg and a sip of the tea, Ihloi leaned forward losing the natural cheeriness in his voice he continued, "I do have to forewarn you though, I have a huge disdain for humans. They are nasty vile creatures that only care about themselves."

Says his advisor who only moments ago just told him to find a mate among the humans. He rolled his eyes leaning back in his chair crossing his arms in displeasure.

"They pollute their waters, fill the air with smoke, pile landfills with trash until it overflows into the oceans and they dump it on other human's land that they see as beneath themselves, they over eat until they are fatter than the pigs they treat cruelly while letting others starve, they kill each other over money and power while constantly stealing from others. Humans have no shame and humility for anyone but themselves. It's completely disgusting. But even having said this I don't see that we have a choice since you have refused to take a mate here in our tribe or any other tribe for that matter. You'll have no choice but to choose a female mate from Earth. I don't like it but at least you can say you've tried before giving up again. It would be best to find someone still young, and untrained in the wicked ways of the humans," he said pursing his lips in disgust.

Rubbing his temple, a sarcastic chuckle escaped through the High King's teeth, "the females in our tribe aren't much better than the females on Earth. Females in Kosea are all high and mighty. They mate with you once every five million years and they only become your mate to curry favor with the nobility. They care more about their lovers than they do their own mates. Most females, only curry up to their first mate when they want something whether it be pretty gems, trinkets, or food. They expect to be taken care of but will never return your love. They fight amongst each other for the best mate but look down on all the males who aren't strong enough to provide for them."

Ihloi raised his hand to try to refute the King's words but gave up when the King continued on his same old rant he gave him ever since taking the throne.

"I see it as it's better to not have a female at all than to mate with one that won't mate with you or talk to you but once every five million years. I would rather go without a mate and give up my throne than to be tied down with a female who won't love me in return," the High King growled leaning back in his chair.

"Tsk Tsk Tsk," Ihloi clucked as he replied "Sire, you are missing the point. You still have to find a mate. Their are rumors spreading among the lower Kings that you'll never find a mate. They will soon summon everyone together and call for a vote for your removal from the throne and have you step down as High King if you can't help to repopulate our female population. There are many here who will not hesitate to take your place as High King."

"It also doesn't look good for our tribe, that you haven't fancied even a single female for over twenty eight million years since you took the throne. Your father would disapprove if he were still alive today. You must perform the mating ceremony soon before it's too late. You are the best King I have ever served under. I don't want to see you lose your rightful position all because you refused to find a mate. I love serving under you.

Ihloi sniffed, getting teary eyed at his own words. He has been serving the King and his parents for many millenniums and didn't want to stop serving just because the King was so stubborn when it came to finding a mate!

"Just please promise me you'll find an amazing mate just like you. Someone I won't hesitate to give my life to protect."

The King sighed in resignation, "I just can't see myself with a human female. They are just too weak, and they are such greedy creatures who only seek to hunt us down and kill us on sight. There is no way that my soulmate is going to be on that forsaken planet."

"I have pretty much given up hope in finding my soulmate for the next five megayears. (one Megayear is equal to one million years). It would lessen my pain if I just waited for the next round of females to be born and try my search again later."

"But Sire, there is no guarantee that a female will be born, there hasn't been a female birthed in over fifteen million years. Seiphe was the last female to be born in our tribe and you have already turned her down. Males in our tribe today have given up on the idea of soulmates, due to the rapid decline in females in the tribe. Even if a female was downright ugly any male would rush to mate with her just to try to birth another female for the tribe.

But his King was old fashioned just like his parents. He believed in finding his soulmate at all costs even if it meant giving up his throne. The only problem was that the King had waited so long for his soulmate to show up that he had almost given up on his search altogether.

"There is no use looking, it's a huge waste of time, I don't want to get my hopes up and be let down again if I don't find her," he growled impatiently.

"How do you know if you don't even look? Love has a mysterious way of showing up even in the oddest of places.," Ihloi urged.

"Thank you Ihloi, it gives me great pleasure to hear that," he muttered sarcastically.

"I can't make any promises of when or where I will find my mate, but I will make sure to find one our tribe will be proud of. I refuse to mate with a female that won't love me in return. I just need a little more time to find the right female. But just so you know you are the only one who can speak to me so casually. Anyone else will be punished severely for the way that you spoke to me so direct and straightforward today."

Ihloi chuckled, knowing full well that the King would never hurt him. They were to close, the King would alway joke about hurting him even though he never meant it.

"Now moving on to more pressing matters," he sighed wanting to move away from the topic about mates because it was giving him a headache.

"I guess it wouldn't hurt to take a trip to Earth to utilize their resources since they won't be needing them for much longer. We can take their water and animals and put them to good use for our tribe. I also want you to gather every tree, plant, weed, and herb species that is on Earth.

Ihloi snapped his fingers and a parchment and quill appeared in front of him. He began taking notes so he wouldn't forget anything during his search.

The King continued not even pausing for a moment, "gather even the poisonous ones so that way we can recreate antidotes, and medicines as well as study the life on Earth and perhaps one day create a new Earth. The animals can be used for the labor in the store houses and we can always have them reproduce to make more."

"Also gather a lot of oxygen that we can store on everyone of our ships." Just incase there is a slight chance that I find a human female. She won't survive in the event we lose control of our oxygen supply. We can live without it for long periods of time but a human female won't be able to. One other thing prepare a specialized medical team. We might need a team for our trip. Get me the best doctor on my fleet."

Ihloi looked up from his scratching, with a grin, "what a wonderful idea Sire" Ihloi responded gleefully as he clapped his hands in agreement.

"We could definitely use the resources and a doctor. I'll contact the command center so that they can get started on the new store rooms for all of the resources we bring back right away."

"I will also lead the mission on Earth to make sure we find and bring back the water and every animal and plant species leaving no stone unturned." He smiled excited for the task at hand.

"As for the medical team I would highly recommend Asacarmenthus but seeing as he is back in Kosea and has his hands full with the offspring's being back in school during this time, we will have to find the next best available doctor to take with us to Earth."

Asacarmenthus, my old friend the High King thought. It has been a long while since we last spoke.

"Ihloi what is our current trajectory?"

"We are currently stalled out by the planet called Mars, we went searching on it today, after intercepting a radio signal from Earth. The humans believed there to be water on Mars, but no such luck. We couldn't find a single drop."

"Ihloi before you get started with the store houses I want you to go and inform the helmsman to turn this ship around and head for a direct course for Earth. We need to get in and out before the Sun gives way. I'll make preparations for a trip on the water planet as well. But for now I am going to the bath house. I need to freshen up a little. It has been a long day. Oh and if you don't mind can you send for the cook a little later with my favorite meal? All this talk about a trip to Earth has me famished. Have them bring it to my study and I will eat after my bath."

"Yes Sire! Right away your Highness!" Ihloi replied as he turned with a bow. "Is there anything else you would like me to do before I go?"

"No that is all, you are dismissed the High King replied with a wave of his hand.

Ihloi turned and with a soft thud of his feet he left the King's study on a mission to help with the resource planning.

As for the High King he stood up and stretched and headed out of the study toward the bath house. Muttering under his breath and with thoughts of human females in his mind.

Will I really be able to find my soulmate on Earth? It was a slim possibility but it is the very last place left to look before he had exhausted every last place in the world. He couldn't bare having to wait another five million years in hopes of a female to be birthed, and then for his hopes to be let down if she wasn't the one among the new batch.

The exhausted King stripped his robes letting them fall to the floor, and stepped into the warm water that was waiting for him. He sank to his chest letting the soap surround him.

"Please little one, make yourself known. My heart longs for a mate, how long must you keep me waiting," he whispered to himself a deep sadness filling his eyes.

He stretched his arms out on either side of him along the wall, and leaned his head back to look up at the starry night sky above him.

"Oh how I wish I can hold you in my arms and shower you with never ending love from the very depths of my soul. Everything your little heart desires will be yours, for your every wish will be my command. I will cross entire galaxies to pluck a star out of the sky and gift it to you if you so much as flutter your beautiful eyelashes and asked me too."

"I want to gaze into your eyes, and wrap you up in my arms, and tell you I love you, as I kiss those adorable fiery red lips of yours. I want to comb my fingers through your hair, and read you stories every night, and tickle you until you beg me to stop with those beautiful eyes as big and round as full moons. I want to carry you in my arms so that you'll never have to walk again and hurt your pretty little feet. I want to lay with you in my arms as we gaze upon the millions of stars in the night sky and wish upon a shooting star that crosses our path."

"I want you to rule by my side, as only a fair and just Queen can rule. We will live out our days side by side, you and me together as one. If only you would come forward and take my hand."

The heat of the water was making him dizzy, his thoughts were all in a turmoil from the steam. He sighed with frustration diving head first into the water to rinse off and cool his mind. He swam through the water with powerful strokes trying to burn off some of his energy. After awhile, he began to feel drained. He climbed out of the pool and donned on his white robe. He shook his hair, letting water droplets fly everywhere. Checking his reflection in the mirror he made a beeline for his study, the smell of braised pork waiting for him.

Entering his study he sat down in his arm chair and dug into his food that was already there waiting for him. Ihloi entered a moment later.

"How was your bath, Sire? Was it to your liking?"

Around a mouthful of food, the High King replied, "it was excellent as always. You have mastered my routine to a science. Thank you for being the best advisor a King could ask for.

"No need to thank me Sire, I'm only doing what your parents instructed me to do, and that was to take care of all your needs."

"That you do Ihloi, that you do," he chuckled spooning in another mouthful of food. "Speaking of, how many days will it be until we arrive on Earth?" His heart raced just thinking about the possibility of his mate being only a few days away from him.

"If there are no mishaps I should say about three days tops. From there we will have roughly about two weeks to gather supplies and make the jump out of this galaxy before the Sun gives way."

The High King nodded, how are the preparations coming? Were you able to send word back to Kosea?"

"Yes, your Highness, the store houses are going up as we speak down on level one. I have also alerted Asacarmenthus, that if we were to bring back a human female, he will be her permanent doctor. He is the best in the tribe and I would trust him with my life when it came to the health and wellbeing of females."

"I am glad to hear that, Asacarmenthus and I go way back. We were friends while attending school, it wasn't until we parted ways for him to become a doctor and I to begin my training in taking over the throne from my parents that we grew apart with our busy lives. It would be nice to catch up sometime."

"For once I am actually excited to visit Earth. You have gotten my hopes up again for finding a mate. But just so you know if I don't find her on Earth I am holding you personally responsible if my hopes get let down again, is that understood?" The High King smirked, over the edge of his cup of tea.

"I fully understand your Highness, you can punish me as you see fit, if the time comes. But let us hope that it does not come to that. I trust that you will find your soulmate this time. I can feel it in these old bones of mine."

"You say that your old now but you barely look over forty," he joked. Ihloi smiled, "eat your dinner, I'll go inform the captain to kick this ship into high gear, with that he turned on his heel and walked out of his study. "Good and as for me I'll be heading to Earth to find my mate," the High King declared with determination clear on his face.
