I could hear the males cheering as I stormed out of the house. At least they were able to witness what true love was like. Maybe they can learn to choose better for the future. Silas and Sophie came running up behind me easily able to catch up to me with their inhuman speed. Tears of frustration dripped down my face. I needed to calm down. My face was still smarting from where I was slapped by Astrid. A felt a massive headache beginning to form. Turning to Silas I held out my tooth, "I need to see Asa my face hurts," I said trying to keep my composure.
Sophie waved goodbye after Silas scooped me up and flew me to the infirmary. I really was Asa's number one patient I scoffed to myself. I wonder how much my medical expenses were after spending so much time in the infirmary. They weren't cheap on earth, I can only imagine with how technologically advance Kosea was it couldn't be cheap here either especially since I was getting the royal treatments. I was jostled out of my reverie when the doors to the infirmary were slammed open. I flinched from the sound my headache couldn't handle the noise.
Asa was at his desk when he looked up and saw Silas holding the Queen. He stood up rushing over. "What happened? Are you okay my Queen? I heard you were attending a females meeting today. They didn't rough you up did they?" Asa asked with concern in his voice. He had gotten a note from them not too long ago. I held out my tooth to Asa, "my face hurts," I pouted. "Astrid slapped me and knocked my tooth out." Asa sighed with concern seeing the blood on my chin, taking me from Silas, he carried me back to my private room and sat me down on the comfy bed. I really liked this bed it was so soft. It was like my own personal nest.
He grabbed a wash cloth and filled a basin with warm water. He added a little salt to it and brought it over setting in on the bedside table. He dabbed at the blood on my chin being careful not to touch the giant glowing red handprint on still on my cheek. He then took the tooth from my hand. "Open your mouth for me. I'm going to restore the tooth back in. Surprised that, that was even possible I opened my mouth he squeezed a paste onto the tooth and placed it back in its spot in my mouth. I could taste something similar to cinnamon but with a more nutty flavor to it. He held the tooth in place for a minute.
"You should try not to pick fights with them. They are completely ruthless when they want something. They will not stop until they get what they want. I'm afraid you won't be able to defend yourself against them. Your males can't do much if they decide to go after you. We aren't allowed to harm or hurt a female. We are completely useless if she goes after you," Asa said with such seriousness in his voice. "It's not my fault," I mumbled around his fingers still in my mouth, "she started it." Asa chucked at my attempts to talk around his fingers, he tousled my hair with his free hand. She was so adorable he thought, he just wished she didn't only visit him when she was in pain or ill.
Once her tooth was in place he removed his hands from her mouth. He then grabbed a healing cream and gently rubbed it on her cheek. The cooling affects should help with the stinging and the heat from the slap. She was so fragile that even a slap from a female can hurt her so. His heart ached wishing he was able to protect her outside of the infirmary. She needs a lot of males to watch after her. A simple little trip can send her here with a skinned knee or a broken ankle. Every fiber in his body was burning on fire from wanting to protect her from every little fall. "You'll have to stay here so I can apply a second dose on your tooth. If you want you can lay down and get some rest. I'll just be over here if you need me."
I shook my head sighing with relief from whatever Asa put on my cheek. Not only did it take the sting from my cheek, but it also curbed my headache a little. "Please don't tell Helios I'm here. I don't want him to freak out. If you need to be paid I'll find a way to get you the money. I can't touch it so I'll have Silas bring it to you." Asa looked at me curiously, I don't get paid to help you. I volunteered myself to take care of you. I looked up shocked. How was he making a living if I was always here taking up his time? "No you must be paid. I can't accept it otherwise. I'm here all the time. You must be reimbursed, I insist.
Asa walked over to the queen. He picked her up and laid her down on the bed so she was a little more comfortable. He grabbed a blanket and covered her with it. "Thank you for caring about me. But I love what I do. I want to take care of you. You are my favorite patient," he said tapping her nose. "You don't have to worry about me. I will be here for you whenever you need me." He felt awkward taking about finances with the Queen. Females should never have to worry about money and paying debts. She smiled up at him nodding, she squeezed his hand before she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
He held her hand for a few minutes enjoying the feel of her hand in his. He brushed the hair from her face watching the creases in her forehead disappear along with the scent of fear that clung to her. She was finally feeling more comfortable and safe around him. He took her hand and placed it under the blanket and went and sat down in the desk in the corner of the room keeping a eye on her just incase she requested him.
He opened the log book that kept records of all the Queen's injuries and logged her recent visit, slapped in the face, tooth knocked out. He flipped to another page and wrote down, can't touch our currency. He wanted to research it some more curious to find out why she couldn't touch it. Why would she say it was lethal? Was it lethal to humans he asked himself. She obviously knew something he didn't. He wanted to find out everything about her, especially anything that could bring her harm. He wanted to protect her from anything that would bring her harm.
About an hour and half later his queen began to stir. She sat up rubbing the sleep from her eyes yawning and stretching. Grabbing a hair brush he came over and took the braid out of her hair. He combed through her hair letting the waves fall over her shoulder. She blushed her face turning pink, it was so adorable when she was embarrassed. It was a feat in and out of itself to get a female to blush, it meant that she might have feelings for him. He puffed his chest out with pride. "How are you feeling? Your face looks a lot better. There might be some bruising but it should go away in a few days."
"I feel a lot better, my headache is gone and my face doesn't sting anymore," I said touching my face where I was slapped. Asa nodded happy to hear that. He brought his hand to my cheek his thumb touching my lips, "let's take a look at that tooth of yours." I opened my mouth so Asa could take a look. He grabbed the paste he used earlier and applied some to his finger. He then rubbed it onto my tooth. He held my tooth in place again giving it a gentle wiggle to see if it would move. It held firm almost as if it wasn't knocked out. Asa looked up almost like he heard something.
"Don't move the King is coming," Asa said still holding onto my tooth. I gave him a thumbs up letting him know I wouldn't move. A moment later Helios walked into the room his eyes narrowing when he saw Asa with his hands still in my mouth. "Are you ok? Sophie told me what happened. She told me Silas brought you here and that you weren't hurt to badly. There was an emergency that I couldn't get out of. I came as soon as I could," he said coming over to stand next to me. Asa finished up removing his hands. I licked my lips clearing the taste of the nutty cinnamon out of my mouth.
"I'm ok, I feel a lot better. Asa fixed my tooth. I stayed here and got some rest. My headache is gone now." Helios gently took a hold of my chin turning my face back and forth. His eyes showed a him to of sadness in them, "I had a feeling something like this might happen. It was why I almost declined your invitation. I wouldn't be able to protect you if a fight broke out. Only females can settle their differences with each other." He stroked the bruises that were forming on her face. He wished he had never let her go, but he didn't want to block her freedom to choose. He didn't want to seem overbearing to her.
"It's kind of my fault," I said guiltily looking down at the sheets. "How is it your fault," Helios asked curiously. "I think I started it when I laughed and snorted at their looks and the sound of their voices. I couldn't contain myself. I felt kind of bad until they started attacking my friends and I got defensive and protected them from her insults." I left out out the part when they asked Silas to join them. I'm pretty sure this would upset Helios the most. "They were so mean. They totally deserved it when I told them their hearts were so ugly," I mumbled quietly. Helios and Asa stared at each other trying to contain their smiles not able to hold back they burst out laughing.
So this was how the fight started. Their queen was absolutely right about a few things their hearts were ugly and they were mean, they thought in unison. My cheeks were on fire from embarrassment. I was such a horrible queen. Cutting their laughter short I asked, "Am I useless? Astrid told me I wasn't doing enough for Kosea, she said I was useless. I don't know anything about being a queen or if there is something I'm supposed to be doing. I thought about it while I was sleeping, I want to contribute more. I don't want people to see me as just a weak useless human," I wrung my hands together anxiously.
Helios sat down beside me pulling me into his lap. He placed his chin on my head wrapping his arms around me holding me close, "you are not useless. "I am the useless one," Helios confessed squeezing me tighter. "I was hopeless, I had refused every female from our world because I was not interested in them, but I was told I had to find a mate soon or the Kings would try to oust me from my position as the High King if I didn't find a mate. Our race's survival depends on females. Kosea's female population was dwindling until we were down to seven females left. We needed a queen before there were no females left."
I looked up at him still confused as to why he said he was the useless one. Helios continued, "I was hopeless because I wanted to find a mate that would love me. I didn't want a selfish def absorbed female that would turn against me as soon as we mated because all she wanted was a status in my court. I searched high and low for a female for more than twenty eight million years and still I could not find one. It wasn't until we found out that your solar system was going to cease to exist that we decided to take a trip to Earth to see if we could gather it's resources in order to preserve some of its history that I decided that while I was there I might as well see if I could find a mate along the way.
We were almost done gathering resources from every continent on your planet and I was about ready to give up when I was flying over your town I was drawn to something. When I back tracked to what was drawing me in you happened to look up in the sky and somehow you were able to toss off my invisibility spell. You had nearly seen me but I took off as fast as I could. Humans were not supposed to see us but somehow you could. When I saw you my world completely stopped. You took my very breath away. My entire body was screaming you were the one. I didn't know who you were or why but it was like the universe was telling me that you were the one that would become my mate."
"So I followed you for the two weeks we were on Earth. I watched how you were different from all the other humans we saw. No one spoke your name everyone was absolutely horrid to you but you still showed compassion and never once did you show any signs of greed, anger, or selfishness. Even when you had little you gave a female the last bit of food you had showing how much you cared for others. I saw the look in your eyes and I felt your soul screaming to be loved just the same as mine. You wanted to be noticed, loved and cared for, you wanted a family that would always be there for you. I saw how your relatives abandoned you and only cared about themselves."
"My heart ached when I saw your face crumble and every last shred of hope had disintegrated as you ran out of your house. I followed you to the clearing. You were scared, alone, and I n pain from the sun burning your planet. I couldn't leave you there but I didn't want to force you to come if you didn't want to. I knew I was a complete stranger to you and I didn't want to frighten you since you were already so scared. I needed you to trust me so I could get you out of there safely. My heart was leaping for joy when you said yes. So I brought you back with me. I had no idea how to take care of a human or that you would be such a handful," Helios said tickling me with a huge smile on his face.
"But it wasn't until I saw your mate marks appear that I knew just how much you loved me. I was shook to my core. How could a mere human girl have so much love to give when she was treated so horribly on Earth I thought. But then I realized how frail you were and that you were not like us in any way. You were still recovering from the long journey it took to get here and then because of my lack of knowledge on how to take care of female humans I neglected to realize you needed to eat and that you got hurt so easily. My instincts kicked in and I wanted to protect you with every fiber of my being. I wanted to shield you from anything that made you sad, or from any pain. I wanted to see you smile each and every day."
"You were so innocent so young and so pure, I wanted you to be able to stay that way. I wanted you to be able to run around and play and enjoy life here. I didn't want you to have to take on any responsibilities, so that you may live a carefree and happy life. I didn't want you to have to bare the burden of being a queen here. But then we mated and I lost all sense of control. I could tell you enjoyed mating something that no female here will ever do because they think it to be a chore and a hassle to try to reproduce females for Kosea. It's considered a queens duty to produce as many females as she can to try to repopulate the females so our race doesn't die out," Helios sighed as he caressed my tummy.
"I felt bad after every time we mated because I didn't want you to have to bare that burden as queen of Kosea. So when Astrid said you were useless, she meant that you weren't producing any female children for Kosea and or leading the females, teaching them and holding meetings, parties, and boring stuff. It's my fault because I have been shielding you from them because I didn't want you to go near them. I didn't want their way of life to rub off on you and ruin or taint your innocence and or to hurt you, but I didn't want to block you from seeing them if you wanted to either. I wanted you to have the freedom to choose. I didn't want to seem overbearing like I did when you and your friends rode those racers. You seemed so happy and I felt horrible taking that moment of happiness away from you."
Helios pulled me closer hugging me tight, "I don't want you to be like those females. I think you are perfect just the way you are. You need not worry about the burdens of being queen. If you don't want to mate we don't have to. I want you to be happy and content here. I don't want you to have to think about Earth and how they treated you. I wish I could erase your memories of Earth so that you only have happy memories but I can't. So instead your every wish is my command and everything your heart desires is yours. Just ignore those females and what they tell you. I want you to be happy.
Tears slipped down my face. I had no idea how much he loved me. My heart filled to the brim with what he said. I was glad that I had said yes when he asked me to come with him. He was my hero. I owed him my life. Not only did he save me but he gave me a home, he gave me love, he showed me how to love and be loved. He was my rock, and my shield. He cared for me deeply, there was no way I could ever let him go. He was my lifeline, he was the air that I breathed. If something were to ever happen to him I would be crushed, completely devastated.
I tugged on his hands placing them back on my tummy. I loved it when he caressed it. It brought me comfort feeling the strength of his hands holding me at my core. I gazed up at him locking my eyes on his, "I love you with all my heart. Please don't ever leave me. It would kill me inside of anything were to happen to you. And I, I don't mind mating with you," I stuttered my eyes flitting toward Asa who was still standing there listening to us with complete rapture, my face flushed when his eyes met mine. I turned away hiding my face in Helios's chest. "You better not die on me. I'll come back to life and find a way to bring you back," Helios teased kissing the top of my head.
A moment later my stomach growled interrupting our little moment. Everyone rust out laughing as my stomach growled louder. I realized that I had only eaten breakfast today and that I was starving. "What would you like to eat for dinner my little glutinous one," Helios asked with a huge grin on his face. I elbowed him playfully pretending to pout at his comment. In that moment I got a huge craving for eggs. I don't know why because eggs were supposed to be for breakfast but they sounded real good. "I want an omelette stuffed with onions, peppers, ham, and cheese." It was the second time that day that I wanted eggs.
"Alright one omelette coming right up," Helios was about ready to send my order when I grabbed a hold of his hand, "can I have two omelettes? I'm feeling really hungry today." Helios chuckled patting my tummy. "As you wish my love," he said kissing my head again. With a burst of blue flames he sent my order straight away to Eleanor.
