The suit itself was perfect. It came with these ninja like shoes, you know the one that separates the big toe from the rest, and it looked like it was padded so I couldn't make much noise using it. The suit also came with gauntlets and on my forearms there were these bracers that had sharp knife like objects sticking out the back. Have to be careful with those otherwise I could give myself an Appendectomy by mistake, and trust me, I like my appendix. The suit didn't come with a mask, I could live with that. Most supes had to change in to their costume which in that span of time a lot of damage could be done. Plus I didn't have to wear my suit underneath my normal clothes so that was a bonus. As for a mask, I could just order a mask online, but for now I had to live without it. I mean my face was kind of already covered by the dark, but still a mask would be cool. So I did the thing that every teenager with questions do when they are stumped. I went online. Apparently i found out that ordering masks would be a dead giveaway to who you were, they could trace it back to you, very easily might I add. So the best suggestion turned out to be looking for the closes mask or costume shop, and wouldn't you have it there was one, two bus stops away. So that's where I would get my mask.
After school, I stopped by Carl's Mysterious Mask, and looked for the best one. I mean there was a variety, from animal masks to monster masks etc.. Looking around, my eyes landed on a white full face covering mask, with red lines that ran from each eye. They kind of looked like tears. Looks like it was called a kabuki mask. It was perfect, it had a long elastic band at the back that you would put behind your head and they would be held up by your eyes. Yeah this was definitely it. After paying five dollars, I walked home while admiring the best purchase that I had made since I discovered what games were.
While walking home, I started thinking as to what I had accomplished so far. I had my powers, I had my suit and I also now had a mask. The only thing that was missing was a name. All the good names were taken, especially the ones that had something to do with my power. Armory was taken by a man who made himself an entire, well armory out of high tech alien gadgets that fell onto his porch during a meteor shower. Arsenal was taken, don't have to explain that. So it was really hard to come up with a name that had something to do with me. Maybe I should use the nickname my dad gave me when I was 4, is that even allowed? Sure he was a douche, but he was a douche with a good naming sense.
When I had just turned 4, I had just discovered what Greek Mythology was, my dad used to read their stories while I was falling asleep. One particular character whose story stuck with me was, Atlas the son of the Titan Iapetus and the Oceanid Asia who as punishment was condemned to carry the whole celestial heavens on his shoulder for the rest of eternity by Zeus himself . Now that was a cool guy. Sure he was being punished for something he did, but that didn't matter to me. What mattered was the fact that he was carrying the literal world on his shoulders.
So what my idiotic father gave me the name. That didn't discourage me from still liking the titan. What mattered that from now on, just as Atlas carried the world on his shoulder, I would have to carry the lives of the innocent on mine.
So from now on I would be knows as Atlas, the man who once carried the world and is now stopping it from falling into the hands of the evil.
