Chapter 49: Cat's eyes enchantment

First of all it is my duty to apologize for my absence, the truth is that I was writing original stories to sell on Amazon, but now I'm back, I have already written up to chapter 53, so we can move forward with daily publications as before.

William woke up early in the morning, barely four hours had passed since the moment he closed his eyes, but the truth for him did not represent any kind of challenge, on the other hand in his room there were several bottles with different liquids scattered everywhere. During the night William had been processing potions for the dueling club on behalf of the expedition.

He left his assigned room calmly, his new guardian was not around which meant he would have complete freedom until at least when Manuela returned.

Regarding Hogwarts life, in Castelobruxo things were quite different, for example to get from the dormitories to the halls required much more time, it was necessary to go down the pyramid of the dormitories and reach the pyramid where the assigned hall was. For William this time there were incantations classes, like many other times he was excited for his class as it would feature an incantation he had not seen before.

"Is everyone there yet?" in front of all the students stood one of the sternest teachers of all within Castelobruxo. William knew this professor as David Torres and he belonged to the land of Chile in the deepest corner of the world, he came from a family dedicated to hunting dangerous beasts.

The appearance of this professor was more chilling than others in the past, he had a white eye and both his face and arms were covered with scars of different sizes. When William asked Anana about this professor he was told that he had fought a beast called Trauco, which is known as a short ogre capable of breaking a man's bones just by looking at him.

"Today you will all begin practicing the cat's eyes enchantment, this is one of the most useful enchantments in my area of work, it allows the mage to see in the dark without the need for light, meaning you don't have to transform yourself into an easy target using Lumos. Pay attention to my movements, if you make a mistake then consider yourself blind for a week do you understand?"

David made the movements with his wand several times, he watched as all the students performed the move, he even pointed it out on the board behind his back so everyone could get a concrete idea.

Even though his appearance intimidated anyone William could see his dedication to teaching, he noticed every flaw in the students and corrected them more than once if it became necessary, in William's previous life this was quite unusual.

"Well, I can notice that you all have the wand movement mastered almost completely, it's time for us to move on to the next level. Time to do magic properly, everyone recite the previously practiced incantation and perform the incantation on your eyes. In twenty seconds I will turn off the lights and we will continue with the theory class for the exam in silence, everything I will explain after the darkness fills this room, will be in the exam".

The expression of the students present changed immediately, they only had one chance to activate the incantation properly otherwise they would not be able to get what they needed for the exam.

William felt sympathy for the older students and for those who would soon be entering classes with David.

For William himself this was nothing more than child's play, learning an incantation was his goal to present to the class but with his support system everything was much simpler, he had a visual guide to activate the incantation by wand movement and his understanding had already reached fifty percent.

"cat oculos" murmured William while with his wand he made an oval and moved the wand upwards, the incantation was activated immediately and his eyes began to glow slightly changing the color of his pupils to adapt to the darkness that Professor David had caused in the classroom at that precise moment.

William glanced down at his hands, he could see them almost clearly although his range of vision was now much reduced compared to normal and it almost looked like he was looking through a bottle.

"Amazing" William muttered looking all around, he then made eye contact with Professor David.

"Perfect" said David loudly "the first year student transferring from Hogwarts is a genius just as the rumors mention, he was able to activate this charm on his first try, even before my students. That just tells us that the other side is still better than us, don't you think that's pitiful?"

David's words contained no malice whatsoever that could be felt by William himself, they were only used to motivate the rest of the students, but still this could mean a rivalry with the Castelobruxo students, after all no one liked the feeling of losing to a foreigner.

David patted William's shoulder reassuringly "you don't have to worry Rosier boy, they won't harm you, after all none of them can see you, each and every one of them has a muggle's ability for magic."

"Doesn't that mean they don't have abilities?" asked William

"Exactly" smiled David "you said it yourself William, they have no ability to be wizards."

It was at that moment that William watched as one by one, the students' eyes began to glow slightly representing that the enchantment was working accordingly.

"Apparently they still have a bit of integrity. Well, I guess we should get started on the exam topics before class is over."

William looked at David's back, he still had a lot to learn from this school, this was proof of that. The cat's eyes charm one he had not heard of before and one that was really useful, considering what was coming in the future this charm would be one of his lifelines.
