Chapter 53: Expedition (2)

The members of the mourning club had been walking for more than six hours when they finally stopped at the edge of a ravine in the middle of the jungle.

"It's close now" declared Anana looking off into the distance from the edge of the ravine.

"Is it hidden with a protective spell?" asked William looking in the same direction as Anana but not visualizing anything, he then activated his mind's eye to look around, he quickly detected something that shouldn't have been there "It's underground."

"As expected of you William, you were able to deduce it immediately" Anana extended the map of the forest so they could both see it "looking for these ruins is impossible from the sky as many wizards do, walking through the jungle doesn't ensure you find it either as there is only one door and it is under a tree"

"very well, we must go on, I want to get to the entrance before noon, usually ruins of this type have many traps and the night will only bring us more problems in the jungle."

Nahuen understood the signal of his captain and made the warning immediately for everyone to follow the march.

They only had to avoid some magical beasts and move through alternative paths until they reached the entrance of the ruins without any damage.

The entrance to the ruin had nothing special, anyone looking at it would think it was a bear cave or something similar, but the secret to the entrance of this ruin was in one of the walls of the cave, it had a mechanism similar to the nine three quarters station, you only needed to pass through the cave to get to the real entrance of the ruin.

"Wow..."

Passing through the wall they all stared at what was in front of them, just like in Castelobruxo in front of them there was a pyramid with the same characteristics, even the height was comparable to the main pyramid, its color was more opaque but it was also made of pure gold.

The entrance was adorned with strange figures made of gold "Be careful, they may be gargoyles or some kind of puppet of antiquity. Just step in the same places as me."

They all began to move very carefully following Anana who was straining to know the location of possible traps.

"You don't need to do that" said William drawing everyone's attention especially Anana's.

"Why?"

"there are no traps in this sector, I can see some plates on the ground that will break from the weight of their bodies but nothing else..." William said calmly as he walked to the front with his arms behind his head "I have an ability that allows me to detect traps."

"An ability..." muttered Anana then looked at William "you could have said it before, you made me look like an idiot, from now on be in charge of trap detection"

"Right."

in his mind William reinforced his assessment of Anana.

The whole group continued to walk through the entrance without a problem, in truth there was nothing to fear until they were at the actual entrance to the pyramid, a large golden door.

"Do not take a single step inside, this time it is protected by a strong invisible curse. From the formation I can guess that it is a fast-acting poison," warned William.

"How is it possible that the curse is still working? This pyramid is at least a thousand years old" one of the members of the dueling club mentioned doubtfully about William's judgment.

"Usually these spells are self-sufficient, in Rapa Nui there are many of these self-defensive spells they just get energy from the environment and keep working continuously" explained Anana patiently to reassure her fellow club members.

"What are we going to do to get in?" Nahuen looked at the entrance "it doesn't look like an easy protective curse to break, I guess we will have to look for another way to get in."

"We will split into pairs to look for another entrance, remember not to enter directly, first we must make sure there are no similar traps, we don't want deaths in vain" Anana ordered everyone, then she looked at Nahuen and William "you two try to break the curse".

Anana withdrew leaving the duo behind in front of the main door, Nahuen continued with his own investigation getting as close to the curse as possible, on the other hand William activated the mind's eye to investigate the curse.

William's field of vision extended all around .

Not knowing anything about the curse it would be impossible to create a countermeasure, this was one of the flaws that William himself had noticed about himself, he still had nothing to break the special curses, of course he was still in first year and had time, but he should also keep in mind that his trips to other schools would have certain challenges if he wanted to explore more than a normal student.

William began to walk away from Nahuen to have the opportunity for his mind's eye to explore other areas of the pyramid.

Each of the areas of the pyramid was several hundred meters long and the mind's eye was unable to analyze it completely, much less analyze the top of the pyramid, but his field of vision was sufficient for the task because when he was in one of the corners of the edge of the pyramid the mind's eye was able to find what looked like a solution.

When they got to the end of the mind's eye field of vision, about ten meters away there was a hole which did not hold between the protective curse field, it was not a big hole, but it was enough for them to enter one by one into the pyramid.
