Damien had been running for quite some time but the center was truly far. According to a journal of one of the demigods who had entered which he had found during one of his hunts, it took a little over a single rotation of the ten suns to reach the center. It was the equivalent of 10 years on Earth.
//gruuuuuuuu...//
Damien stopped upon hearing that sound. It seemed to come from his stomach.
'How could I feel hunger, am a demigod. This should only be felt by mortals.' He thought as he rubbed his tummy.
A tempting aroma drifted by his nose as he was frowning deeply. He looked towards the source and saw something which looked like meat inside one of the skyscrapers being roasted on a grill. It looked like a restaurant and the aroma had drifted due to a person opening the door.
He turned around and walked over to enter but then he caught his reflection in the glass and saw fine beads of sweat on his forehead.
'How could I have sweated?!! What's wrong with this fuckin continent?!' He thought as he removed a hand kerchief from his pants and wiped his forehead. He mostly travelled with the handkerchief to portray himself as the perfect being but it was mostly unused since the times it was truly needed didn't occur.
"Perfect aren't I?? Huuu.. Even I sometimes want to swoon over myself" he mumbled as he formed different poses in front of the glass.
"This is definitely perfection." A sweet voice came from his right side.
"You are right..." He absentmindedly answered as he turned his head to see the owner of the voice.
The moment he saw the person, his heart skipped a beat.
'Beautiful. She truly is a perfect match to a being as perfect as myself' he thought as he gulped.
The owner of the voice was a young woman who looked to be about 19 years of age by Earth's standards. She had waist length golden hair which was cascading down her back. She had vertical slitted golden eyes which had been the ones to captivate Damien. She was wearing a golden pencil mini dress which outlined her budding chest and curves. She was light skinned.
Damien's fiery gaze roamed her body while masked by the glasses. All he could see was her side profile since she was looking at her reflection in the glass. He moved his gaze down to her fair legs and finally settled on her dainty feet. She wasn't wearing any shoes.
"I believe I have given you enough time to admire my perfect body. Now its time for your compliments." She said as she turned around and looked at him with her beautiful eyes. Her arms were crossed beneath her chest.
"You truly are perfection. You do suit the role of becoming my wife." He said upon regathering himself with an air of confidence.
It was the woman's turn to be shocked causing her eyes to widen. Her little mouth opened wide at his ridiculous statement.
'Is this guy crazy? How can he ask me to be his wife? Doesn't he recognize me? It must be that my photos and videos haven't yet been revealed in the city.' She thought.
"What's wrong? A handsome and perfect man like myself is willing to barely allow you to become my wife on account of your beauty. Why aren't you thanking me and excitedly kissing me?" Asked Damien as he spread his hands as if he was waiting for her to run into them. He had raised his head at an angle upwards and so had his eyes.
"Oh...a weak and ugly trash like you wants what??? Me as your wife??? The dreams held by this plebeian are hilarious." The girl shook her head dismissively as she insulted him.
"Weak? Little girl am a demigod. I don't sense any energy from you. And ugly? Tsk...tsk...it seems your view of handsomeness is warped. Go away, I don't have time to enlighten you." Damien said as he lowered his hands and tried to wave her away.
A blush crept up the girl's cheeks. She was truly enraged. She took in a deep breath and parted her budding chest to calm down but her eyes had narrowed dangerously. She raised her left hand and snapped her fingers.
"I believe you will look cuter this way." She said as she turned around and walked away.
"Let's go. We are late for the take over." She commanded as Damien turned around. He saw that she had an entourage of five people who had been behind them the whole time. It was four men and one woman. They were all dressed in black suits.
"I am giving you until the next sun cycle to arrive at the tallest tower in the middle. If you don't, you will never grow back what you have lost." She said without turning around. The group lifted off and flew off leaving a dazed Damien gazing at their backs.
'They were gods all along?!?! You should have said something. It doesn't matter we shall never meet again anyway.' Damien thought as he turned his attention back to admiring himself in the glass. Gods were the only ones permitted to fly within the city.
'Why is my head shiny? Where is my beautiful hair? Don't tell me someone cut it off?' He thought as his body trembled. The suns' rays were reflected off his bald head almost blinding his sight when he looked at his reflection through the glass.
//"I am giving you until the next sun cycle to arrive at the tallest tower in the middle. If you don't, you will never grow back what you have lost."// he remembered that particular statement upon which anger started building in his mind. His blood pressure increased exponentially.
"I need to calm down. She is a god therefore her divinity will definetly prevent my hair from growing back unless I too become a god. Ahhhhhh... How frustrating." He shouted attracting the attention of passerbys. Apparently the restaurant was sound proof since no one turned their heads.
'Let's go to the center. I am going to give her an earful even if she's a god.' He thought to himself as he sped up his running speed. He wanted to reach there before the next sun cycle.
//Breaking news, the Phoenix godqueen has arrived and her reign will officially start at the start of the next sun cycle. After a million sun cycles, the Nightmare godking will be handing over at the same date. The ceremony will be broadcasted live...//
Damien saw the news on a large screen on top of a skyscraper but since the faces of the gods weren't shown, he soon lost interest and continued his journey.
His stomach once again made growling sounds as he was running. He stopped and looked around for any food establishment nearby.
'Stomach, I wonder what happened to you. Can't you stay as perfect as I am...' As he was thinking, he remembered his currently hairless head and stopped that train of thought. He saw a restaurant across the street as he was looking around.
He crossed the road and arrived at the entrance. He looked upwards at the sign but couldn't understand the name. The language here was something he hadn't learned to write and read yet but he had learnt to speak it back in the original universe.
He opened the door and entered. He chose a seat next to the window and called a waiter over.
The waiter was a blond haired youth. He came and stood next to Damien's table with a smile plastered on his face.
"How much is are the dishes here?" Damien asked cautiously. What he had seen of the city suggested that it was expensive.
"Our cheapest dish is golden flaming meat and it us priced at one million fire elemental crystals and..."
"Wait!! How can a dish be that expensive. This is daylight robbery." Shouted Damien as he interrupted the youth. The other patrons who heard him looked over with their gazes filled with disdain.
"And why has it got to be paid for with only a single type of elemental crystals?" He continued.
The youth's expression changed from a smiley face to one filled with disdain.
"Oh, it seems you are one if those original universe barbarians. If you can't afford the food in here, go to those stalls outside." The youth said after which he turned around and walked away.
"If you don't exit in five seconds, I will call security." The youth continued as he walked away.
Damien's expression beneath his glasses looked terrifying due to his rage. His eyes' red color had increased in intensity. The youth was only a four stringed being that he could kill in under a second but he had dared to insult him even when he knew that Damien was a six stringed demigod. It was humiliating for him.
He calmed himself down and looked around the restaurant. The other patrons were pointing at him and laughing. Many of them were weaker than him but it seemed like they didn't fear his retaliation.
He stood up, took one step and vanished to reappear by the door. He opened it and took another step to vanish as he sped away to calm his rage. He knew that if he acted and killed someone, the punishment was death.
He went to a food stall and bought something which looked like a burger from Earth and ate it. It was cheap but it was still expensive to him as it was in the hundreds of thousands. Payment was done through credit cards. Damien's fortune only amounted to ten million elemental crystals of the various elemental attributes.
'I will become poor by the rate at which my money is being spent. I need to find out why hunger can be felt in this city.' He thought as he was enjoying the meal while leaning on the food stall.
