Chapter 20 Retrieving The Suit

Chapter 20 Retrieving The Suit

Damien launched himself from the branch to the ten meter wide slanting surface of the lower part of the tree he had felled as his laughter reverberated in the place. Dark's reactions to his teases always made him happy.

"If you weren't a god, I would challenge you to a duel, kill you and sell your body in the universe to those demigods who are evil." Mumbled Lino through gritted teeth as her jealousy filled gaze bored through Dark.

"Don't talk to me fake goddess. I have his entire attention, so you lose." Dark said as she turned into a dark blur to appear at Damien's side robbing Lino of the chance for a retort.

'One of the flowers on my crown is fake since I am still just a six stringed demigod but I will eventually attain the wind elemental string, and when I do, he he he....' Lino thought as the dark flower on her crown shimmered briefly as the color of her suit, hair and eyes took on a dark shade.

She glared at Dark's back as multiple evil ideas ran through her mind.

Damien, who had landed on the sloping tree stump walked to its lower edge and looked down.

The fallen tree trunk had trapped the creature's body beneath it and since the creature was smaller, it couldn't be seen from where he was standing.

Damien dropped off the edge and landed on the ground near the fallen tree with Dark in tow.

Upon landing on the ground, a black rose bloomed from the the fallen tree's shadow and the shadow rose from the ground.

It gained a humanoid form before it faded to reveal Lino who had a dark expression.

"Lino! How can you transform into that form? It makes you seem evil." Damien berated.

"I know you don't like it but bear with it. I am currently in a very bad mood." Lino said as her dark eyes were raised from the ground to look into Dark's.

Dark took a slight step back as a hint of terror briefly passed through her eyes.

Darkness in the form of a whirlpool had taken over Lino's eyes and spread from the pupils to the white part. A gloomy feeling was coming from her and goosebumps had even formed on Dark's skin even though she was a goddess. She could feel that at this very moment, Lino was a threat, even to her.

Damien took a step and appeared in front of Dark upon seeing her fearful expression. His eyes were vigilantly trained on Lino.

"LINO!!!" He shouted, upon which the darkness receded from her eyes leaving only black glistening pupils in its wake.

Lino walked to the side and sat down on the grassy ground, folded her knees and buried her head in them.

"Hoooo, its a good thing she hadn't yet given control to her." Damien released a deep sigh of relief as he patted his forehead.

"W-What happened?" Dark's voice quivered as she asked, while stealing glances at Lino.

"Her other personality was going to awaken. It would have been dangerous, well mostly for me since this projection in the illusory world has a very low number of strings." Damien answered as he walked towards the massive fallen tree.

"I can defeat her even if it awakened." Said Dark.

"Fighting it isn't the problem! You will understand if it does awaken someday." Damien answered while shrugging his shoulders.

The ground around the tree had formed a crater but one was deeper and smaller.

Damien walked towards the smaller crater and caught sight of the creature's corpse which was currently spilling a large amount of green blood due to the pressure exerted upon it by the fallen tree.

"It seems I might have to get dirty." Damien said as his clothes disappeared and only a pair of red briefs were left on his body. The sword is the one which had turned into the briefs as it was a permanent elemental string construct. The temporary clothes he had created were useless as they offered zero protection.

He turned into a blur and raced over the little lake of blood that had formed. His palm turned into liquid blood and reformed itself into a sword.

Upon arriving near the creature's skin, Damien cut open another wound through which he entered.

'I can't afford to waste my elemental strings.' He thought as green blood coated his body while he pushed his way inside the innards of the creature. It was like trying to swim against the current. Moving his palm to cut a path while mountains of flesh were squeezing him was proving to be a daunting task.

'Too bad I can't control its blood due to having a little under a half my projections's strings.' He lamented while his green colored body continued to make its way inside.

The blood wasn't toxic and was only sticky but still, It made Damien feel uncomfortable.

'Shit! My underwear is soaked through. My penis is feeling sticky. I hope it doesn't get any weird illnesses or viruses which might affect my body in the real world.' He continued with his thoughts.

He reached a membrane while he was still squeezing himself between the green colored flesh and cut it open.

The moment he cut it open, white juices spilled out and made contact with his body. He started to feel the number of strings making up his body dwindling but he persevered and entered through the membrane. It seemed like he had cut through the creature's stomach. The digestive juices were trying to corrode his body causing him to grimace from the pain.

He pointed his arm in front of himself and released a tiny amount of strings into the white liquid.

They slithered around like snakes until one of them made contact with something with the same aura as them.

Damien, who was still connected to the ends of the strings, felt something and pulled as he tried to move towards where he had just come from.

He pushed through the flesh once again and exited through the same cut he had made with the suit in tow.

Dark, whose attention had been focussed on Lino, turned around, only to catch sight of a humanoid being coated in green and white sticky fluid standing beside the creature's pool of green blood with something which looked like a suit soaked in the same liquid as the humanoid.

"Dark! Set fire to this filthy liquid on me.I am losing too many strings. My projection will collapse at this rate." Damien bellowed as his red pupils stared at her.

Dark giggled while she raised her right hand and a dark flame lit atop her index finger.

She brought it close to her mouth and blew on it upon which it expanded in his direction.

Damien almost pissed his pants when a black blaze of epic proportions emerged from her index and engulfed everything including him. It was like the dragon's breath back in the legends on Earth.

He had closed his eyes thinking he was going to burn but he only felt a little warmth from his skin.

He opened his eyes to find that the flames were only burning the sticky liquid on his body and not himself.

He raised his left hand and passed his fingers through the flames and found them warm.

The black flames only burned for a little time before they extinguished.

Damien was overcome with glee as he admired his body which had no trace of the sticky liquid.

He looked towards his right on the ground and saw that his suit was also clean.

"I aso burned up the beast." Dark said as a thud sounded from behind him as the tree trunk settled to the ground to fill in the void left by the beast.

Damien turned and looked behind himself to find no traces of the beast except for the crater. Even the pool of blood had vanished yet the flames had not managed to harm anything else.

"The control you have on your divinity is impeccable." Damien complemented and gave her a thumbs up causing her to blush as her eyes rolled around in her sockets.

"It isn't that great." She mumbled as her hands clenched the sides of her white night gown.

Damien picked up his suit and dressed himself before his tie, which had turned into his briefs removed itself and fell into his hands.

It turned into a staff as he walked towards the two women. He had even managed to recover the other pieces of his clothes, like his shoes with the other strings he had released.

"Let's go. This battle wasted a lot of time." He said as he jumped towards the branches of another tree with Dark immediately following.

Lino, who had been trying to calm down also stood up and followed after the two.

After they left, this part of the forest regained its peace.

"Lino! What prompted you to try and wake her?" Damien asked Lino, who had currently changed her color scheme to white.

"Nothing." Lino mumbled out as she kept her gaze away from his. Her gaze had flitted towards Dark for an instant when she was answering Damien but no one had noticed.

Damien turned his gaze back to the front and they continued on with the journey in quiet.

'Phoenix and Lino like him. Even I am currently failing to restrain my desire around him. What does he have that attracts us?" Dark thought as her dark eyes twinkled every time she looked at his back.

'Maybe I should let nature take its course. I shouldn't try to restrain my feeling for him.' Her thoughts continued.

They were getting ever closer to the middle of this world while the sun looked like it was about to sink.
