Chapter 14: Life token!

"I...I threw him, ravine, the r-river, the forest's depths..." Breathing haggardly, he struggled to mutter a few words.

After an unknown amount of head-smashing, William helplessly gave in and told Hannah everything. He was in despair, feeling like his life was hanging on a thin thread, one that could be severed at any moment.

At this point, William was truly beyond recognition, with blood smeared all over his distorted face.

Hannah's eyes tightened, and she clenched her fist upon hearing the answer.

Myah has only awakened and has yet to cultivate...

Although she wanted to believe that he is still alive, the chance is slim. Not to mention what they have done to him previously without her knowledge.

Tears flowed out of her cloudy eyes once more.

"Ha hahaha..." Overflowing with rage, she forcefully pulled on William's hair, lifting his head upward. She wanted to finish this bastard here and now as her grief and sorrow have been blazing all this time, becoming the fuel of crazed madness.

"Go to hell!"

Hannah's left hand glowed with a hazy blue light as she concentrated the spirit energy on the tip of her fingers, making it as lethal as a blade's edge.

As her killing intent soared to its limit and reached its breaking point, Hannah aimed at William's throat and struck. There was no doubt that if the strike connected, he would be decapitated on the spot.

Swoosh!

In that instant, before William was killed, the figure of a grey-haired old man suddenly appeared out of nowhere and stood next to them, stopping Hannah's attack with little effort.

"!!!"

"Let go of me!" While glaring at the uninvite guess, a chilling glimpse appeared in Hannah's eyes.

"What? Do you want to stop me from killing this bastard even after keeping me in the dark about Myah's matter?!" She shouted.

Clothed in the same grey butler robe, Old Jack sighed tiredly.

"Don't do it, Hannah... It's against the Clan's rule to kill fellow Clan members inside the Clan's premise. Do you want to be confined at this time for killing him in a moment of anger?"

A guilty look appeared on his aged face for allowing all this to happen as a close friend of Hannah's deceased father. But the damage is done; after letting go of her wrist, Old Jack slows down and takes the chance to stuck something into Hannah's hand.

'You know the consequences, Hannah... . In this place, William's existence is unimportant; don't be blinded by your anger and become a tool for other's convenience.' Once Old Jack's hoarse voice rang in her mind, Hannah was confused and looking doubtful.

She didn't know what the old fart was talking about!

However, once Hannah discovered what was in her hands, her eyes widened in shock.

It was a Life Token, a small piece of jade slip the size of an adult's forefinger with a red light glowing faintly in its center.

Once every child was born in the Braveheart Clan, an elder would take a drop of blood from the said child, dripped it onto a life token, and kept it away in the ancestral hall.

With that life token, one could ascertain whether that said child was dead or alive if something happens in the future.

This practice was widespread in many prominent families and clans as a way to protect their descendants.

With just a glance, Hannah knew that this Life Token belongs to her son, Myah.

Like a dying campfire being added with extra firewood, the remnant of cold ashes in her heart was once again reignited. Holding onto the Life Token, Hannah becomes emotional as her anger slowly died down.

The red light on Myah's life token was still lighted, although very faintly, her son was still alive.

There was still hope!

Seeing how Hannah has calmed down, Old Jack smiles regretfully and sends another message to her mind. 'If the boy's fate is meant to be, there's always a way out. Take it and get out of here, go and search for him.'

After carefully keeping Myah's life token away, Hannah looks at Old Jack with conflicted emotions. However, she quickly shifts her gaze onto the unsuspecting William, who seems relieved that someone has come to save him.

Still holding onto his hair, Hannah pulled William closer and whispered to his ear, "Did you said that we could always have another child?"

Although not knowing why she suddenly asked that question, he still hastily nodded his head. "Yes, yes, we could al-"

However, once he discerns the devilish looks in Hannah's eyes, William suddenly thought of something horrifying. His body trembled uncontrollably and was filled with goosebumps.

"No...no... don't do it, Hannah! You can't do this to me!" Yet, it was already too late.

Hannah ignored William's plea. With a sharp eye of a predator, she marked her prey and swung down her weapon as it descends swiftly in a sinful manner.

...

"Not in this life!" Looking aloof, Hannah exclaimed before turning around and began her journey to search for Myah.

...

The winds were whirling profusely; the sharp noise and the crazed wailing of a particular eunuch were like a piece of heavenly music to the ears of the people.

Truly magnificent!

Gazing at Hannah's disappearing silhouette, Old Jack's body quivered as a trickle of cold sweat flowed down his forehead.

Without wasting any time, he quickly took out a healing potion and poured it over William's lower body to stop the blood loss.

"What are you still looking at? Come over here and take him back quickly!" Old Jack was fuming; he called out to the servants watching from afar and reprimand them for being lazy and neglecting their job.

"Get to work and clean up this place. If it's not clear before tomorrow, I will deduct your salary." After giving out the instructions, Old Jack also left as many things require his attention.

'Tsk! Nowadays, all the servant has become such a lousy bunch; maybe I have treated them way too well.'

Meanwhile, inside Thoran's office,

"Master, Hannah has left the capital city." In a dark corner, a dark shadow reported everything in an eerie voice.

Looking through the document on the table, Thoran nodded.

"Let her be." He said indifferently.

With Hannah's measly C-grade talent, Thoran wasn't worried about her creating any wave in the future.

It was a pity; he was planning to have her kill William, and everything would be concluded as a family drama. But alas, things didn't go according to plan.

'Treat this as my last favor for you old friend...'
