Chapter 49: A New Beginning

Sera took a deep breath as she pressed her finger against the doorbell and waited as the soft chiming tune echoed through the pristine white hallway. She was nervous, but she’d put this off long enough.

It’d been three weeks since their nightmarish escape from Hastings Apartments, two weeks since they’d received a disgruntled message from Morvil about the arrival of his ‘guests,’ and one week since Lonny was released from the hospital.

Sera’s heart fluttered as she heard the sure, steady footsteps reach her. The door swung open.

His eyes were tired though, laced with the edge of a defeated man. He opened the door wide, letting her pass.

Sera stepped inside, “How are you?”
