"Kelly already called one, but thanks."
"So, Bob, can I leave town any time this week?"
Miriam thought of her postponed buying trip.
He nodded. "Sure, you're in the clear. The murder was obviously point blank with a .357 magnum. You aren't exactly the type to handle such large firepower."
"What a sexist remark," Kelly piped up. "Mim's handled guns before."
Miriam shot her a fierce look. "Shut up, Kelly. You're going to have me convicted."
The two men smiled.
"Do you have any guns?"
Miriam wiped her mouth before answering. As usual, she finished before anyone else. "Not here. The guns I own are back in Montana. I saw no reason to bring them with me. I figured I was safe being married to a cop."
"Wrong on that score, girlfriend," Kelly said laughing.
She and Miriam exchanged a high five over the table. Bob and Gus glanced at each other.
"I think somehow we've been insulted," Gus said to his friend.
Miriam and Kelly laughed again.
