She picked up her glass and swirled the wine before sniffing the bouquet. "I get some great deals and I've furnished a townhouse and part of another house through estate sales. Some of my customers want antiques, but have no time to look for them."

"How do you know an antique from…something that isn't so old?"

Gus came around the island with his wine glass and settled on the stool next to Miriam. She caught the faint scent of an aftershave. Mark had never worn any cologne.

He preferred to smell like a man, she remembered him telling her. She never had the heart to tell him sometimes his manly smell didn't work for him.

"Workmanship. Things look different when done by hand than by power tools. Handmade is less exact."

Gus raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong with power tools?"
