"She hasn't arrived," Gus told Brad Renford. "I don't suspect she's coming."
"Do you know where she is?"
"No." He lied.
"We'll check with all the airlines," the other man said and hung up the phone.
He looked at the receiver grimly and replaced it. Bob appeared in the doorway. "Hey, old buddy," he said with fake enthusiasm.
"Yeah, right. Have you come to shit on me too?"
Bob sat in the only other chair in the room. "Nah, but Kelly's worried about Miriam."
"So's the FBI. They thought she would return home."
Bob cleared his throat. "You know where she is don't you?" He held up a hand. "Don't tell me. You want to find her first."
"Certainly before any member of the Capano family does. The Bureau is chasing its own tail. They underestimated her."
"You warned them didn't you?"
Gus nodded and rubbed a hand over his face. "Yes, I did. They considered her a dumb blonde. Pissed me off. She's one of the most intelligent, albeit selfish, women I've ever met."
