His name was Alessandro Galeazzi. He was tall, standing at six-foot-four. He was two hundred and twenty pounds of pure muscle. He had shoulder-length chestnut brown hair that he kept tied at the nape of his neck. He had icy blue eyes that were like glaciers. He had a heart-stopping smile and a chiseled jawline that any woman would fall for.
He was the Don of the biggest mafia family in Milan, Italy. He tried to be fair with his family but there was a darkness in him. A darkness that was consuming him more with each passing day. Along with the darkness, there was a beast inside of him. A beast that came out any time that the darkness took hold. It was mainly when he was dealing with his enemies. It was getting harder for him to hold onto his humanity.
There was only one way that he could be saved from the beast and the darkness. He needed to find his saving angel. His saving angel was the one woman for him. The one woman who could drive the darkness away and tame the beast inside of him. She was the one who would save him from losing his humanity. The one who would bring light back into his life. Make him feel joy and happiness again. But he had to find her before it was too late.
It used to only be the darkness inside of him but his rival, Enzo Moretti, awoke the beast inside of him. He had killed almost every single member of Alessandro's family. The only one who escaped was his brother, Luca.
Luca and his saving angel, Aurora, were the only two people who could bring him back from the edge.
Alessandro was sitting in his office, going through some paperwork for a new shipment that was coming in. His cell had been ringing for the past ten minutes. He knew that it was his brother but he wasn't in the mood to deal with his brother's cheerfulness. He groaned when his phone started ringing again. He finally just snatched it up and answered it, knowing that his brother wouldn't stop until he answered. "What?" He grumbled into the phone.
Luca laughed through the phone. "Well someone's just all rainbows and sunshine today." He said sarcastically.
Alessandro practically growled as he clenched his hands into fists. "What do you want, Luca? I'm not in the mood for your cheerfulness today."
Luca chuckled. "Alright, I'm sorry." He cleared his throat. "I need you to come into my office. Now." He said firmly.
"I can't come in," Alessandro said calmly as he looked over the paperwork that was on his desk. "I'm busy with paperwork."
Luca sighed. "Look, it's about Aurora." He said, knowing that it would make Alessandro more cooperative.
Alessandro frowned as he put the contract that he had been reading down. He may be more beast than human most days but he would always care for his brother and sister-in-law. "Is she alright? Did something happen?" He demanded calmly.
"No no," Luca said. "She's fine. Nothing bad has happened. I just need to talk to you about something. So I'll see you in about thirty minutes."
Alessandro could hear the smirk in Luca's voice before he hung up. He grumbled as he stood up. He grabbed his gun and tucked it into the waistband of his pants at his back. He also grabbed his favorite knife and slipped it into his pocket before grabbing his keys and leaving the house. He made it to Luca's company in twenty minutes.
Luca Galeazzi owned his own publishing company. He was almost an exact copy of his brother. He stood at six-foot-one. Like his brother, he was pure muscle. He had chestnut brown hair but he kept his hair short and near. His eyes were a blazing emerald green that sparkled like gems. He had been lucky enough to find his saving angel, Aurora.
Aurora was a taller woman, reaching five-foot-eight. She had a lean build that a lot of women were jealous of. She had brunette hair that went down to her waist. Her eyes were a swirling melted chocolate brown. She had a bright smile and was the sweetest woman anyone could meet. She was caring and kind.
Alessandro pulled into the parking lot and parked right by the elevators. He made his way into the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor. He groaned when a young woman got onto the elevator a few floors up. She was wearing the sluttiest outfit that he had ever seen in an office. Her face was caked in makeup and she was wearing way too much perfume.
He ignored her until she got off the elevator. He coughed as he stepped off the elevator once it reached the top floor. He was brought out of his thoughts by the most angelic voice that he had ever heard. "Can I help you, sir?" She asked.
He looked up and felt his entire body freeze up. She was the most beautiful woman that he had ever seen. Even his mind froze up. "Sir?" She asked politely. "Do you have an appointment with Mr. Galeazzi?"
He mentally shook his head as he cleared his throat and walked closer to her desk. "I don't have an appointment but Luca is my brother. He asked me to come in so he could talk to me about something."
The angel sitting behind the desk bit her bottom lip as she looked at her computer. "Um well, he doesn't have any physical meetings until later this afternoon. He should be finished with his conference call by now." She set her pen down and stood up. "Let me go and make sure that he isn't busy. Feel free to make yourself comfortable."
He nodded as words escaped him. She was perfect. Waist-length hair that he assumed was longer because she had it up in a ponytail. Bright, mysterious eyes that held a darkness that surprised him.
He ran a hand through his loose hair and froze as he realized that the darkness had been slipping away from him. Now that the angel wasn't in the same room it was crawling back. He looked towards Luca's office door with wide eyes. He had found her. His saving angel. He finally found her.
He was brought out of his thoughts when she walked back into the room. "You can go see him now." She said softly. "He's waiting for you."
He nodded and made his way into Luca's office. "Alessandro. Glad you could make it." Luca said as he closed the door behind him. "Take a seat." He gestured to the chairs across the desk from him.
"Well, you didn't give me much of a choice, Luca." He grumbled as he sat down in one of the comfortable chairs.
Luca shrugged. "You wouldn't have come in if I hadn't." He said simply.
Alessandro nodded in agreement. "You have a point." He sighed. "What is it that you wanted to talk about?" He questioned after a minute.
Before Luca could respond Evangeline walked into the office. "I'm sorry to interrupt Luca but Mr. Edwin is on line one and he refuses to talk to anyone besides you." She said softly.
Luca groaned. "Alright. Put him through Evangeline."
She nodded and rushed back to her desk. Alessandro couldn't take his eyes off her until she was out of his sight.
"I'm sorry Alessandro. This should only take a minute or two." Luca said in apology.
Alessandro waved him off. "You're fine." He mumbled as he looked towards the door where Evangeline had disappeared.
Luca eyed him curiously as he answered the phone. "Luca Galeazzi." He said as he watched his brother.
Alessandro blocked him out as he stood up and walked to the huge windows that lined the wall. He couldn't get his mind off of Evangeline. She was his saving angel. She worked for his brother yet he had never seen her. He was confused about why he hadn't seen her before today. "What's on your mind, Alessandro?" Luca asked as he walked over to him.
Alessandro sighed. "Evangeline. Your assistant." He said softly. "Why haven't I seen her before?" He questioned quietly.
Luca frowned as he looked towards the office door. "Evangeline?" He asked in confusion as he looked back at Alessandro. "She likes to stay busy." He said simply with a shrug. "It's usually not good when she has nothing to do so I give her enough work to keep her busy. Most of the time she's not even at her desk. She forwards all the calls to her cell phone." He explained with furrowed eyebrows. "Why?" He asked curiously.
Alessandro looked towards the door with longing eyes. "She's my saving angel." He whispered.
Luca's eyes went wide. "Evangeline is your saving angel?" He asked in shock.
Alessandro nodded. "As soon as I stepped off the elevator I knew." He said quietly.
Luca shook his head with a small smile. "This is amazing news." He said as he sat down in his chair. "I know you need her." He said softly. "Just as much as she needs you."
Alessandro frowned. "How do you know how badly I need her?" He demanded as he sat down.
Luca scoffed. "Please. You think I know about the darkness consuming you but don't keep tabs on you." He shook his head with a smirk.
Alessandro groaned. "Please tell me you didn't."
Luca smirked. "I did."
"How long?" Alessandro questioned as he leaned forward with his elbows on his knees.
"Since your last episode," Luca said as he leaned back in his chair.
Alessandro shook his head. "Almost a year now." He muttered.
"How much has the darkness consumed you, Alessandro?" Luca questioned as he leaned his arms against the edge of his desk.
Alessandro shook his head as he roughly shoved his hair out of his face. "Most of the time I don't even feel like myself anymore. My humanity is almost gone, Luca." He said roughly.
Luca shook his head. "How do you feel when you're in the room with Evangeline?"
Alessandro sighed. "I can feel the darkness slipping away. The beast stops banging on the cage that I have him in."
Luca blew out a rough breath. "Then you need her." He said simply. "Just as much as she needs you."
"What do you mean?" Alessandro asked.
"Her past isn't an easy one," Luca explained quietly. "She's been through more than any person should have to go through in a lifetime. Let alone the short amount of time she's been on this planet. She's haunted by her past every single day though," He shook his head. "She won't ever let you know it."
Alessandro looked towards the door. "How can I help her?" He questioned.
Luca shrugged. "Usually I have to wait for her to come to me. She normally won't even come to me unless it's just that bad." He explained with a rough exhale.
Alessandro sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. "How am I supposed to help her then Luca?" He asked as he felt his heartache at the thought of his angel being in pain.
Luca blew out a rough breath. "I feel that if you just simply court her and get to know her she'll let you know eventually. Or you'll figure it out on your own." He shrugged. "She's fragile though. Sometimes she can seem cruel and heartless." He scoffed. "Much like yourself when your beast gets free. Though it can be worse for her."
Alessandro nodded. "I promise that I will not hurt her."
Luca smiled. "I know you won't. Just remember that you have to be patient with her."
There was a knock at his office door before Evangeline walked in again. "Sorry to interrupt Luca. I just wanted to see if you guys needed anything."
Luca smiled. "Some coffee would be lovely Evangeline. Thank you."
She nodded with a smile. "Two cups of coffee. Coming right up."
She left the room as Alessandro looked after her once again. "She doesn't date anyone," Luca said with a knowing smirk. "She believes that no one can love her because of her past." He said quietly.
Alessandro frowned. "Why would her past keep anyone from loving her?" He questioned. "She's an angel." He said in awe.
Luca shook his head. "That's just how her head works sometimes. So it might be difficult for you to get close to her. Although." He said as he sat down at his desk again. "If she's your saving angel then
she has to feel something towards you. That's how the whole thing works. So she just might let you in. Slowly but she should let you in."
Alessandro sat down across from him. "Sounds like we'll both be learning how to love together then." He said softly.
Luca rolled his eyes. "You know how to love. You love me and Aurora. There's just darkness consuming you, trying to take that love away. Evangeline." He shook his head. "She hasn't loved or been loved by anyone since she was four." He sighed. "She's told me that there are people she cares for but she doesn't know if what she feels for them is love. She doesn't remember anything about love Alessandro." Luca said quietly.
Alessandro felt his heartache for his saving angel. How could someone as beautiful and sweet as her not know anything about love? "How could she…" He trailed off as the office door opened.
"I'm sorry for the wait boys. We needed some fresh coffee." She mumbled as she walked into the room with two steaming cups of coffee.
She set them down on the desk in front of each of them. "If there's anything else that you guys need just let me know." She said softly. "I'll be around."
Luca rolled his eyes. "Off to run some errands, are you Evangeline?" He questioned with a smile.
She stuck her tongue out at him. "I'm not leaving the building. Or even the floor." She shook her head and mumbled to him. "You know I can't sit still for too long." She smiled at Alessandro. "It was a pleasure meeting you Alessandro. Your brother talks about you quite often."
She walked out of the office and he sighed as he sunk into his chair.
Luca chuckled. "Oh right. I brought you here for a reason." He said.
Alessandro sat up a bit as he grabbed the cup of coffee Evangeline had brought in. "Oh yeah. What is it that you wanted to talk about?" He questioned before taking a sip of coffee.
"Aurora wanted to be here to share this news with you but we were both worried about how you would react with the darkness being so consuming for you right now."
Alessandro frowned. "What is it, Luca?"
"Aurora's pregnant," Luca said with a wide smile.
