A Ranger’s diary — log 1

Day 1

I settled down in my new post. I'm a ranger of a forest and I got the job from an ad I saw in the TV. I was pretty down after losing my job and since the job was just to go around the forest with a camera to record for 8 months, I think why not? And the pay is also good and I got a lace to stay for free so more reasons to say yes. But, since I'm in a forest, I'm writing a diary for when if I go missing, someone could find this. Anyways, not much else to write so this is it

Day 2

My first time going out to the forest was uneventful. There's nothing much from chirping birds and small critters going from tree to tree or on the ground. However, I could feel something weird when I was going through the forest. Like animals were watching on me or something. It was weird and my hair is still standing. Aside from that feeling, I have nothing else for today

Day 2 (nighttime)

I could feel something wrong, it's 1:28 AM. I'm awake from a howl of a wolf, the forest doesn't suppose to have wolves. The guy hired me didn't say anything about dangerous wildlife. But, the guy did say that no creatures venture to where my cottage is so, at least that's comforting?

It happened again, I was about to drift to sleep and it howled again, for fuck's sake. Maybe I'll just stay up for the night and get my gun just to be safe

***

Day 3 (morning)

I had a cup of coffee and was on the phone with the guy who hired me. I complained about the wildlife and asked why he didn't say anything and what he said back was kind of a shocker. Apparently, the wildlife doesn't approach the cottage I'm in if I'm quiet. What the hell? Seriously?

Anyways, I stayed up the whole night and now maybe I'll sleep, I'll record the video in the night

Day 3 (nighttime)

I'm about to go outside for the recording. I armed myself with a gun, a bear repellent and a flashlight. So, if I die, tell Andrew that I forgot to pay you back at high school

Day 3 (midnight)

I'm back, holy hell. The whole fucking forest was spooky as hell at night. I also almost had a heart attack from a squirrel and some owls. Man, I fucking swear they're watching me because when I shine my flashlight at the squirrel, it just look at me. I even approach it and it didn't even move. It was freaky so I decide to make my way back to the cottage. I might have nightmare when I sleep, if I manages to that is

***

Day 4 (early morning)

I just woke up. No kidding. I got two hours of sleep which was godsend for me because it felt like I was sleeping for a full eight hours. I didn't sleep until 4:32 AM because of the howling of the wolves and I was so paranoid on them going to the cottage while I'm asleep and eat me. Because I'm a heavy sleeper, I don't wake up that easily but I think I might become a light sleeper after I'm done with this job

***

Day 4 (midday)

I had some breakfast and is now chilling with my phone. The reason why I'm writing is because a weird howling of something not wolf-like was heard from the forest. I'm getting kind of freaked out. But, after not hearing it once, I just disregard it but not completely since, who can?

I think I'll go to the forest when it's in the afternoon since I'm not doing nighttime recordings anymore because of last night's incident. Fucking hell, I even dreamt of that squirrel just staring at me uncomfortably for the whole two hours of sleep
