Chapter 2

Everything seems different, the people we interact with everyday. We all see things in a different way, maybe it's because we see things from a different perspective. High school is not so much fun, if you ask me. They say that "It's where we carve our future", but how can that be when people are being divided through status in school. It is either you are popular or unpopular and this influences the way you are treated by others. That is why I always tried to avoid people. In every class, I would take the front desk. Even though I can be seen by everyone from behind but what's important to me is what the teachers trying to teach me.

First class was Maths. Alexa and I went in 30 minutes before the class starts. While most of the students would enter when it's 5 minutes to start the class.

Mr Steven was always early to class. He is that type of teacher who you don't want to mess with. He is tall and thin. He wear specks and is a bit bold headed. He always expect everyone to play their part during his class.

"I believed that all of you had done the trigonometry exercises, last night?" Mr Steven said in a neutral tone.

"Yes, Sir" we all said in unison, even though that almost 72% of the class haven't done the work. Just to avoid the embarrassment of being humiliated in front of the whole class. We all somehow knew that we had to say 'YES' as an answer.

"Let's find out all the answers shall we. I will be needing some volunteers to show us the answers on the board!" he started examining the room.

When he say "volunteers", that when he meant that he is picking the students to answer the questions.

For those who had done their homework, they are more relaxed. But for those who haven't, they were becoming the uprising actors and actresses that moment. They could win an Oscar award just by the way they were pretending.

Mr Steven called out three names, just three students and it took them the whole period tying answer the questions. Unfortunately they still couldn't answer the questions till the siren went. They were given a warning not to repeat it or he will personally call their parents.

Time went by so fast. It was time for lunch when Lexa was looking for me in the hallway. We always had our lunch outside in the summer house. We would eat and talked about anything. She always fascinates me with all her crazy scenario about people in school. She knew every gossip in school and she always updates me during lunch. Even though I might have no idea what she is talking about or who she is talking about. If she had a job in the school, she would be the news reporter.

"Scott is having a party tonight!" she was a bit excited when she said it.

"And....?" I said with a disinterest tone.

"Since he is my boyfriend. l am officially inviting you to the party" she clapped her hands while saying it. l was surprised when she asked me this. It's the first time she asked me to go into a party.

"You know it's not my thing and plus I have to study" trying to make up excuses because I really didn't want to go.

"Oh, come on. Why do you need to study, when you always have straight A's?"

" Why do I need to go. When you know that tomorrow is a school day?" I asked her while trying to come up with a better excuse.

" You never went to a single party. Your head will get blown up from all the study's you've been doing"she said sarcastically.

"First of all I had been to a party. Second, my head can never get blown up because I'm filling it with knowledge" I said proudly.

" Yeah..., which party have you been to then?" she challenged me.

" I went to Joseph's party" I said instantly.

"And when was that?"she asked again trying to recall in a disbelieved tone.

"sophomore year" I said sheeply

"Danny, that was a birthday party! It doesn't count."

"Same difference" shrugging my shoulders while I took a bite of my sandwich. I kept on eating my lunch just to avoid the topic.

"Can you just come to the party for me. Pretty please ..." she said while doing a puppy face. She never givs up and she will never stop until I agree to go.

"Only for your sake....."I smiled to her. She was always there for me when my mum passed away. The least I could do is to accept her invitation.

After school, I would go to one of our bakery and help out. Suzie was always busy after mum passed away. She had to come home late everyday. I decided to help her just so that I could spent time with her. It gets very lonely sometimes when I come home just to find out that the house is empty. I would cried my heart out, thinking what life would have been if my mum was here. I would keep myself busy just to stop myself from feeling lonely. I would do tutoring, arts, and other stuffs in school during my free time.

Today I am going to our bakery shop. It was my mum's dreams was to have a bakery shop, so it was named after her. l went straight to the kitchen. It was fun to do baking because everything was made with love. I was still mixing the creams for the cakes when Suzie entered the kitchen.

" Tom, we're running out of muffins out there. Do you think you can make some more". she asked one of our finest Bakers.

"Sure thing" he replied and didn't wait for a moment to start. He started getting busy.

He was one of the coolest people I've ever met. He was in his mid 40's. Most people thought that he was the twin brother of Paul Walker (in the movie Fast And The Furious). He started working at the age of twenty. He was more like an uncle to me. He would teach me how to bake most of the delicious cakes you've ever tasted.

"Do you think you can help me here Kido..." he said while signalling to me.

He knew exactly that I like to do baking. I wanted to jump like a kid when they were given a princess doll ( that was how exciting I was when it comes to baking) but I just shrugged my shoulders and start getting to work ( because it's too girly to do the whole jumpy thingy). We made sure that we've baked enough muffins, so that we don't have leftovers.

After helping Tom, I looked around to find Suzie. She was wiping the tables. I needed to get permission from her about the party. She only agrees if I'll be home before midnight.

I had to go home and get ready. I kept it casual with my outfit. Scott and Lexa will be picking me up.
