#1: Amber Mae Rune

"Once there was a little mermaid, who had once saved a human prince from drowning. She instantly fell in love with him, but she couldn't be together with him as she was a mermaid. She couldn't keep herself away from him, she made a deal with an ancient being to be with him. She gave away her mesmerizing voice and ability to speak in exchange for human legs but that was not all, the legs would give her a piercing pain with each step she took....", said the nanny, reading out, the little mermaid for the 4 year-old princess.
"Why did she go for that exchange? It's clearly not worth it!", Amber, the princess asked.
"It was out of love, dear.", she said.
"Love...?".
"Listen on... Even though, she was close by him, he fell for another woman. He believed that it was that young woman who had rescued him. No matter what the mermaid did, the prince didn't love her back. The mermaid's sisters asked to her to kill the human, when the human's blood would spill she could get back her voice and her life, but the poor mermaid couldn't.
For she loved him too much dearly, she soon lost her life, disappearing into sea foam. The wind god, made her into a spirit out of her pure heart. But the prince oblivious to these all, remained happily ever after.", The Nanny completed.
"That is so unfair! He didn't even take her feelings into consideration!", Amber began shouting.
"No, my princess, He probably was blind to the truth and just believed what he wanted...",
"Nanny! Let's go kill him!", Amber shouted once again.
"I like your enthusiasm and your feelings for a revenge, but remember princess, revenge only brings about sadness.", Nanny said sweetly combing Amber's luscious dark red hair.
"But... I wanna go shout at the prince at least. Can't we? Please?", Amber asked.
"Well, the prince isn't exactly alive.", Nanny said.
"Why? It was written only a few centuries back right?", Amber asked.
"My princess, humans don't live as long as we do, Humans barely reach hundred sometimes.", Nanny said finishing her hairdo.
"Ohh.. Humans are so weak!", Amber said.
"Well, that is so, but still they are better than us in many ways.", Nanny said.
"How?", Amber asked as she was being tucked in.
"Next time, My princess please sleep. Tomorrow you have the royalty test.", Nanny told as she went out and drew the curtains and Amber fell asleep...
********
" Ugh... that dream again...", I got up and sat upright. This was so irritating. I am getting the same dream for like a month? a week? I don't know.
I got up, and went on with my daily routine, polishing my fangs and teeth. I saw myself in my mirror, though all people assume Vampires can't see their reflection, they are slightly wrong, you can't see the vampire's reflection in the holy water or the mirrors present in holy areas. Mirrors made by humans, reflect us alright. My fangs are growing sharper by the day, Its disgusting.
"Princess, would you like to have a milk bath or a fragrant bath?", a line of maids asked me with perfect unison.
"Um.. herbal will do the trick.. set it up please.", I said, looking at my fangs.
"herbal? but... um...", there was murmuring among the perfect line of disciplined maids.
"Yes, Princess. If I may ask, Red or black?", the first maid asked.
"Black.", I said.
The bathtub soon was ready, with perfect hot temperature, the smell of herbs, ugh... how repulsive. But I like it. If my body is fully scented with herbs, those petty people would surely keep their distance!
I closed my eyes slowly relaxing back. It is so boring. Being a vampire, it is very much boring. No, being a vampire isn't the problem, being here as me is the problem.
I am the 7th child of 12 kids of my parents. My father, Vincent Aiden Rune and my mother, Estella are the King and Queen of the Vampires. All must be thinking, being born a princess, a member of the strongest blood is lucky, but. It ain't easy.
I had a tougher thing to deal with, it wasn't assassination chances or fight to throne, but the love of my family. Love was hard to get in a family of Vampires. There was even another dangerous thing. Expectations.
My father, was the strongest Vampire, and the only prince during his time, considerably he got more favor and more trust from Vampires, My mother, was a daughter of a official, a perfect lady, perfect in manners and delicate. This didn't mean she was a weak lady, her magic was equal to my father's. She was an amazing strategist during the war between other clans.
Everyone expected the children of these two would be the geniuses of the century, and they got it. My eldest brother Nyxus, was a marvelous ruler, immersed in the world of politics, he was the one who brought among the current peace among vampires.
My second and third siblings were twin sisters Raven and Rain, Both are exceptionally good in fighting, war was their thing, they both lead two factions of knights of sorts under their absolute command. Fourth was a sister, Bella who was a beauty filled with grace, her exceptional long hair, and graceful features made her a perfect princess, she is always beside mother. She was a true snob with perfect acting skills.
Fifth, was my second brother, Vasil who I guess is also a beautiful person, he was strong and beautiful, he is the competitor of my eldest brother for the position of crown prince. Sixth, my third brother, Zane a great strategist with a lot of magic potential, a loyal supporter of my first brother.
Seventh, me, a normal Vampire. I was a Vampire, with mediocre magic potential and my skills were equal to that of a normal soldier. My manners or any other thing were also average. I was just a 'normal' Vampire among a family of exceptional ones. My younger siblings, my triplet brothers, Stevan, Evan and Fang are also exceptional assassins, though they are just 70 years old. My youngest twin siblings, Ethan and Heather both are exceptional in art and music, their magic lies in music, similar to my Grandmother. On top of that, they were announced as the cutest royals ever born. They are the most famous kids ever, from the time they were born till now.
In this exceptional family, I was considered a disgrace or an eyesore. Basically, I was invisible.. No bullying but the contempt in everyone's eyes was not easily hidden.
"It's time to get dressed for the brunch, Princess.", The maid called me from out the room.
"Ok.", I got up and got dressed.
The brunches are the only time we all gather and have food together, by food I mean blood with a bit of meat, and complimentary vegetables. In a summary its just a family meeting with scowls and fake smiles.
A sort of neutral zone, where we get to eat as a 'family'. This world, the mythical world, is just too complicated. The size of it is immeasurable, the Vampires, who rule the North and the North-West, currently are the top most powerful in terms of strength, area and magic.
The second are werewolves, on par with Vampires in terms of strength and magic but they have lots of internal politics which causes their leadership to crumble, They rule the South and South-West.
The third are Elves and Dwarves, both under a union rule the North-East, a trading nation which has neutral behavior but could be a formidable enemy if they turn against anyone of us.
The fourth, Giants, who rule the South-East, famous for power but have bad diplomatic strategies.
The fifth, Dragons and wereanimals, also under a treaty, rule the West, they are calculative and wish to overthrow both the vampires and werewolves but lack manpower as the dragons have very less population and age very late.
Finally, Fairies and Angels or something, mysterious creatures, who live in seclusion in the bordered land of East, The last messenger from them was at least a eon ago.
The other minor creatures, either live in a specific empire or stay in the forests which border each land. In every empire, there is a mysterious waterfall, which connects the human world and the mythical world.
There are a lot more unexplored parts with dangers but the vampires don't need them as we already rule almost 40% of the world we know.
