#5: The Wolf's Story

"The world formed by the First, the mirror world, was a replica of the human world, but it was slightly different, it had no boundaries. You could go on discovering new land.

The First, was a kind one, he would give the animals or lost souls from the human world a second chance here, and this formed the first creatures.

They all stayed together in the North. The North was also called the Place of Life, for that very reason.

The South was a cold and desolate place, harsh winter which stayed for over six months, leaving the whole place barren.

Then came a lone silver she-wolf, carrying it's children, shivering from the cold, It was a stray wolf, from the human world, which got caught up between a fight between two groups of people it fell in a pond while trying to run away from humans, It was injured, a long slash on its belly, blood slowly oozing out.

The cold was fierce and like stinging needles on her wound, but at the same time, it felt welcome there, the fear and worry all gone, something told her this would be a safe haven for her and her children.

This new world was strange, its terrain was similar to Earth, but it was just devoid of humans. Not only that there was no one for miles, not a fox or lion, nor a bird on the tree.

She looked over, her kids shivering in the cold, came and buried their heads in their mother's fur, they soon noticed the blood and began licking their mother's wound. She knew her fate, she wouldn't last long, and after her, her kids would follow.

She was getting tired and tired. Breathing too was a tiresome task now, She pulled her whimpering kids nearby and licked them, hugging them.

This was the time, when the only ones living in the mirror world, was 'The First', a sort of mysterious creature, known to have created life, and his companions the creatures he brought to life.

They all lived in the North.

Maybe it was fate that led The First to the South, as he came walking, he saved them. He gave them a choice, to stay here as werewolves as normal wolves could never survive here or go back to human world in a dense forest where no human would come.

The she-wolf chose to stay, and with The First's blessing, she became the first werewolf. Twilight Oberon. ",

"Do you now know how our kind first came into being? ", asked the tutor

" Well, Yes sir,", said all the kids in the class.

"Prince Luan, you haven't said anything, do you perhaps have a query? ",The tutor asked.

" Nothing, I understood it well, I was just tired. ", Luan said trying to hide back his yawn.

" Well, ok. The Class is over. Complete your homework right now! "

"Thank you, Sir. " The class said.

"Hey, Luan, Don't be so boring and come let's go hunt some stags or something. ", said Prince Titan

" No.... Luan let's just go and get some herbs for our research!!! ", chimed the sweet Prince Kai.

" All of you are no fun, Brother Luan let's just go and play with our dolls... ", said the princess Luna.

" Luna's right, let's just play with dolls, I am sleepy and dolls is best. ", said the eldest Prince, Atlas.

" Brother, you're skipping homework session? ", asked Kai.

" Well, I am sleepy and since it's our little twin siblings birthday, we ought to do something special. ", said Atlas.

" You're just 17 years elder than us. Don't treat us like kids!!", said Luan.

" Yay! Let's go!!! ", Luna went on ahead with her brothers following her.

" But brothers, isn't it weird that South was once a barren land, filled with snow, But the South here is just nice and warm. Why do you think it is no more that cold here? ", said Luna.

" Loneliness is cold, The place was lonely without any friends, But now it has us! So... It's warm. ", Atlas said.

" Loneliness is cold?... I think being alone is cool. ", said Luan.

" No.. I can't stay alone!! I won't have anyone to spar with!", said Titan.

"Your way of thinking is weird Luan. ", said Kai.

" Hmm.. Where are everyone? ", Luna asked as she looked over.

There were no guards outside the classroom door. It usually was guarded.

" I guess their shift was over. Let's just go to our rooms. ", Kai said.

"Yea... Or.. maybe their planning us a surprise on our birthday!! Think about it, we haven't got a single wish till now...It could be a surprise just like last year...Don't you think brother Luan!!! ". LUna chimed

"Hmm.. Maybe.. but I want to ask Dad to go to the North once as my this year's gift. ", Luan said.

"A permission? you need to be at least 20 years for that! You're just 12 years, a baby, And you do know North is our enemy since like... a 1000years? ", said Titan.

"I am not a baby, I can swing swords just like you. It's not like I am going for war. Just a visit, I want to see their Nearville city square, they said it was the most beautiful of all in the book", Luan said.

" But brother!! We agreed we both would ask for a permission to visit the Dragon Fest this year!!! You're my twin you can't use my birthday fully for yourself!! ", Luna pouted.

They reached the main room and played with Luna till she was tired. It was only an hour but no one brought them snacks.

" Ughh... I am so hungry! ", said Kai.

" Me too I might just eat myself. Where are all of them anyway.. They would have at least left a pie or something... Let's go and eat in the kitchen!!. ", Titan said and ran away to the kitchen before anyone could agree.

" That foodbrain didn't even wait for us. I don't want to eat anything. " , Luan said and helped Luna braid her dolls hair

"Well.. Let's wait, if he gets something to eat he would surely come back. ", said Atlas.

" What was that? "

"I think Titan just ran into those knight costumes in the hallway. I will go help him, the last time he couldn't even move when it fell on him. ", Kai said and left the room..

The door opened, and a pungent, disgusting smell filled the room, Atlas immediately used a protective scroll on him and his siblings which made them invisible for an hour. From the door, a bloodied Kai entered, his one arm missing, blood oozing from his stomach and a big slash on his face...

" Run...Luna.... R-run... " , the words came out of his mouth before he fell down.

Atlas wanted to run towards him but wasn't sure if the enemy was gone or not. Luna was shocked. Luan held her.

"Are there more kids?", A rough voice asked from behind Kai,

" None, Your majesty. ", said a man from side.

" But we only killed 7.. The babies were the first, Next the one in the kitchen and two in the spar ground and one here, there should be three more. The crown prince, other prince and a princess, according to our spy. ", He snarled.

" I couldn't find them, your majesty. " The soldier said.

"Hmm... Well, I guess they will come out if we hang the bodies of their parents in the city square of Nearville? Just thinking of it makes me delighted on how they would come to claim the remains. ", He laughed.

Atlas and his siblings were shocked... Their parents were killed?... How?...

Atlas was tensed, thinking of what to do to protect Luna and Luan.

"The whole room is lined with the purest form of silver, Breathing here hurts. ", said the servant as he stepped back and they went to other rooms.

Finally, Atlas could breathe, he looked at Luan, who would usually be cold, began crying silent tears and hugging Luna so that their sobs won't be heard.

He knew it, Without him, they would manage somehow, but if they lose their twin, It won't be a small scar.

He made his mind up, If anything, he would just sacrifice himself and save them. He used his magic.

Werewolves magic was mainly being able to transform into anyone and be able to copy their manners, this was In addition to the usual magic skills of fighting, the transformation skill was a hereditary.

Luan and Luna began running towards the gate, until, they heard the gates being locked shut. The huge metal gates were forced shut, sealed with magic. When they turned around, everywhere was stained with blood, everyone was slaughtered, not a single one remained, from the middle came the king, with his servant who dragged their brother Atlas towards the gates.

Luna was shocked and stood still staring at Atlas. Her brother tried to take her away to hide but she was frozen. Her anger and rage took over her and she transformed into a silver wolf with streaks of red.

It was a forced transformation, Werewolves get their first transformation at 18, but now it was a full transformation, Luan knew what it meant, she was spending her life force as a way to get back her brother's body from the King's hands.

"Luna please... No.. I can't lose you too.. Please... come let's go somewhere and hide.. ", Luan tried to beg her.

" Brother, Atlas never did anything wrong, neither did Kai, nor Titan, Maybe their fight was with Dad and Mum but why them too? Our newborn siblings too? All these servants... Next me and you too, What's left? They must pay, and I must protect you. "., She said as she kept her invisibility charm onto that of Luan's and ran fully charging towards The Vampire King.

After killing her, He was about to search the whole palace, but then a messenger came hurriedly and told,

" A princess!! what a good news. Let's go, Our work here is done. Let's host a big party for the birth of our princess. ", He said and they went away.

Luan froze he stayed that way for at least ten minutes,

No! No! No! Let this be a dream... Please! please!! He begged, as he ran towards Luna, she came back to her original form, she was still breathing.

He had quickly tried bandaging her wounds, she slept, though alive, she wouldn't get up. He carried her and soon a few others came, villagers beside the palace came due to commotion, the palace guards who were assigned to tasks outside.

They took her to a hospital and He went back inside palace, the huge stench was so horrible but he treaded through strongly searching for any survivors, there were a few servants and in the kitchen he found Titan, he was alive. He was bleeding but alive.

People came and took him and left. He went towards Kai, but Kai was a weak person, he had already died. Atlas and all others including their parents were dead.

The ministers were all assigned to other places due to many reasons. It was the perfect day for an ambush. Luan felt lost, After a week, Luna was diagnosed to be in coma state for life and Titan lost one of his eyes.

The Werecats took charge of country and swept over the ministers and removed all the spies. The whole palace was changed. Defenses renewed, the Werewolves demanded revenge and cut off all trade with The North and declared war.

From then on, Titan was made into the crown prince, Luan took the title of The Duke and both look after the South.

The werewolves who were once a symbol of peace became darker. Luan vowed revenge on the Vampires, And now, finally after 115 years he finally made the perfect plan, and infiltrated the castle.

He had taken the Defense Minister of Elves captive in the South, and taken on the identity of Leo Silas.

The plan was perfect. Take on the identity of Leo, get married to a weak Royal and then... get revenge.

The fourth princess Amber, famous for her weak magic was the best pawn he could use in the game for revenge.
