#15: Attack Attempt.... but... What is This?

Werewolves?? Oh no.. I was cornered, they were snarling as if I was prey. And I knew I was. The room was still and quiet with only the slow growl of the wolves, The two of them were strong, not naturally, but seemed as if their strength was enhanced by a thousand rates. I went backwards, the security guards came running in and broke the silence of the room, the wolves immediately attacked them. The rooms upstairs switched on the lights, I was frozen, it was too scary. I hated myself for being that way. To be frozen when scared. I had to run. But I wasn't able to. The maid had come running with a gun of sorts and shot three bullets at them but it didn't matter to them. They kept walking even though the blood dripped from them like a waterfall.

I almost puked. I was scared. There was no light downstairs, except for the soft moonlight from The windows and from the rooms above. The maid got pushed away by them and three more werewolves appeared. The maid must have lost consciousness.

All the security guards were being defeated. Injured till they lost consciousness and left alone, The wolves were quite peculiar instead of going after all, they were only after me. I tried going upstairs and grab a sword or a dagger or a knife of sorts. But the wolves caught up and I fell to the ground, I was in the middle of the two floors. When, Jade, came towards me. His eyes glowing in the dim lit room.

"Jade! Don't come here! ", I said, barely managing to use my magic to push them away. My magic was low and I was too tired for a sudden attack.

" Mommy? What are they doing?! Don't hurt my mommy! ", He said and came towards me.

" No! Don't come! ", I said.

"Don't hurt my mommy! ", he said. And there was a sudden golden light which pushed them away.

The wolves snarled, one of them took a knife from the kitchen and pierced me. He was so quick. He almost pounced at me. When Jade cried again.

" I said don't! ", he said and again the gold light.

I was losing my blood quite fast. The wolves snarled more fiercely and almost came at me again, but Jade's crying kept them at bay. My hand was hurting, thankfully he didn't pierce my stomach, but the blood was all over me till I stank of blood.

Then Suddenly, just like that, they stopped. Looked at themselves, processed what they were doing and went backwards. They were more afraid than me. They kept walking backwards until, a different group of armed men came and killed them by shooting them through their head. I thankfully could cover Jade's eyes. But I could see it. The wolves were afraid. As they saw the gun pointed at their head. It was scary. It was scary on how weak and human-like they looked. As though they were.... a kind being. It was weird, when they looked at each other, they were clearly shocked that they were... well.. attacking us. But without any reason.

Jade who came near me. Looked at me. His eyes filled with tears, "Mommy, don't leave me again. ", he said.

" I won't. So just go to your room and lock your door. ", I tried saying to him, as I was losing my consciousness and was going to probably suck Jade's blood. Which is dangerous for him considering how young he is.

" No... Mommy will leave me again! No. ", he cried.

I hugged him tightly so as to not drop guard and just sleep. But Jade got up looked at me once again, and pierced himself, thankfully not with the knife and not at his own arm or leg or tummy but with a pin on his finger. He squeezed out a little drop of blood and pushed his finger in my mouth.

I tried not to lick it. But.. not my fault. The strange thing. I felt normal. The urge to probably kill and drink blood was gone. And easily.

"Mommy will stay. ", he said and slept.

" Yes. ", I said hugging him. I don't know who is his mother. Maybe she had a similar face to mine. But I decided, I could be his guardian mother in the human world. It won't hurt. Just as how my nanny saved me, gave me love. I will too.

In a few minutes, I fell asleep or what I dont know. The next I got up in a different place.

First thing I saw when I opened my eyes was the white tiled ceiling. I couldn't sit, when I looked at side my body was attached to some machines which kept beeping once in a while. Okay.. that's scary. But the whole place looked like it was made for a fan of things which are blue or white. Is it a hospital? There were things like cotton and first aid kit in the cupboard beside me. A bouquet of flowers?... I didn't die.. Why the hell would gift a living person flowers?

I tried to sit up, and boy it hurt. It hurt so much that I felt I might have actually broken a lot of bones. I felt strange. A lot strange. A lot weaker? A lot stronger? I looked at my fingers, rather than being pale, they were full of color. Maybe they transfused a lot of blood.

I could sit comfortably, finally.. I reached out for the glass of water and drank a bit. I don't know if I was drinking water or some kind of a medicine, because water tasted.. fresh? I don't know how to describe it well. I looked across the room, it was boring. The whole place looked serious. No place for fun or crime. It was serious. Staying alone here might be really hard. I wonder how orphans when admitted here might feel?... What about the orphans with no friends? or like really old orphans? I stopped thinking, as the thought made me tear up.

the doors opened and Mr. Storm came running in.

"Oh my god! You are awake! Thank God. ", He came and patted my head. His eyes almost teary.

" Mr. Storm? Um.. Where is Jade? What happened to those guys? ", I asked.

" Jade was found asleep beside you, he was trying to protect you. As for the guys, they are probably from my enemies. They disappeared. The security nor the maids, no one has a clue what happened. You were attacked. So, you don't know what happened. Do you? ", he asked.

" They disappeared? ", I asked

" Yes. They might have gone back, shocked to see kids instead of me. Those bastards! ", he said. Immediately realising he shouldn't have said it like that.

" But, I thought someone came and killed them? Was it a dream? ", I asked. If not Mr. Storm's men, who did it? There were no bodies? Who exactly could have done this?

"It must have been an illusion created by your mind to calm you. Because in the Camera footage, it was different. ", he said holding my hand.

" Different? How different? ", I asked.

" Well, Tell me what you remember. ", he asked.

" I remember coming down for a glass of water and suddenly the windows broke and two appeared first. I tried going back and security came. The maid too came, but fell. Then three others joined. One of them pierced my hand. And.. Jade came. He hugged me. They went back, from then a new unit appeared, I thought it was the backup unit your men called, they shot them all in their head and...um...went away. ", I said. removing the parts of werewolves and magic glares and gold light.

" Hmm, in the footage, all was same except for the last bit. ", he said.

" Was there anything strange about them? ", I asked.

" The footage itself was blurry so I can't tell. First of all I must not be talking about this to you, Second, don't stress. I am sorry to have left you kids alone. I didn't take care of you well. ", He said.

" Oh.. it's not a problem. ", I said.

" No tell me a favor which you want. I will grant it. At least by that I can reduce my guilt. ", he said.

" Then, I would like to have an opportunity to meet Mr. Sterling. ", I asked.

" Oh... It's.. a bit tough, as he himself never really appears anywhere. There is a meet this month. You could probably meet him. But if his secretary only attends. I can't help.... Ok! If not at the meet, I will try. " He said

"Thank you! ", I said and a sharp pain came in my arm. Where I had gotten stabbed. Was it supposed to pain this much? Shouldn't I have healed? I looked at myself and the pure white bandages were stained red. A perfect red which I never saw in my life.

" Oh no! You are bleeding! Let me call the nurse. ", he left.

What is this?... Why does the pain hurt so much? All of my feelings became much more sensitive, the heart beating in my chest, the soft pulse in my body. The sharp pain in my arm, the noise of the machine beeping annoyingly, the nurse lady who rushed in to bandage my hand. The prick of the sharp needle. It was a bit too clear. I tried using my magic, but no... I couldn't. More like I couldn't feel magic in my body.

My bandages were changed and Jade came running in and crawled up in my arms. The nurse and Mr. Storm left the room.

"Mommy, stay! ", he said.

" Jade, What did you do to me? ", I asked.

" Mommy? I did what? ", he asked.

" What did you do to me? ", I asked.

"I didn't do much, just make you human. ", he said

" You did what? ", I asked fiercely.

" If you were vampire, people kill. So. I gave you medicine, you become human. ", he said crying.

" I am human? But it's not possible! Only the God and other humans can make humans! Not you. ", I said.

" No, possible, I gave you a vampire killing poison, it kill the vampire in you, but not the human in you. ", he said.

" But I am a pure bred vampire! I don't have human in me. " I said.

"No, all vampires, have human in them. ", he said.

" What.. I am human? ", I looked at myself, my hands which somehow looked healthier and more fragile than my previous self. I knew it.. I had no magic anymore. The purse beside me, The devils pit, I couldn't access my hidden stuff. The money and jewels I could not access it.

" Mommy don't cry. ", Jade hugged me. I checked my teeth, the final and most accurate thing which could give me the correct answer, my fangs, which would never stop being sharp and big. I ran my fingers over my teeth, but no, I had a normal, blunt canine. The human kind. I lost my fangs....

Oh.. My wish was fulfilled, I am a human....
