Chapter 84

Monday morning, Hans quietly stepped out of the elevator of the dormitory. He then walked a few steps forward before turning towards the door on his left.

He stood still without doing anything for a minute.

Then after a while, he slowly lifted his right hand and softly knocked on the door.

On his third knock, he stopped to wait for any response…

Yet, seconds passed and there was nothing.

Then he tried for the second time… still, there was nothing.

"Chess? It's me." he finally called out before knocking for the third time.

This time, Hans tried placing his ear on the door, hoping to hear anything from the inside. However, it was to no avail.

He heard nothing. There was no one.

Because of that realization, Hans started walking out of the dormitory with his shoulders down low. His morning was unusually silent. The breeze of the morning air felt so cold to the skin.
