Hospitals with modern Earth technology are not in existence when needed the most.
A roar nearby.
*F**king hell, what now? I gazed skyward.
Last thing on my mind was to deal with a mo beast on my own with two half dead teenagers.
Zaixing, you f**ker better show up.
The ground begun to tremble. Wherever the elders were, there was no way they could deal with a leviathan of a dragon so quickly. And find us.
"Run," Lianfeng said with his eyes closed, while channeling some flowing qi to Wugang, "Run or all of us will die. You can still survive."
Really, I died before. That's how I got here. A ghost in a corpse's body. Touched by your concern, but really no biggie.
I peered at my index finger. That blackish purplish spot was still faintly glowing. Maybe a wager.
[Use me] A thought popped into my head. [Try]
This must be an Alice in Wonderland moment about a mushroom with a tag of 'eat me'. That never turned out well.
RUN." Lianfeng shouted hoarsely as the ground started trembling violently.
"Sorry, Lianfeng. I can't. I can't live knowing that I left a friend to die."
His once gentle face formed into a frightening sneer. "JUST RUN. IT CANNOT DETECT YOU BECAUSE YOU DON'T USE LING QI..."
"Yeah...run..you too, Lianfeng, he can't live...he is vegetable...he leaves ...without you...he may not...survive. At least, ...it ...is ...only...me...my brothers...can...replace...me...," Wugang spluttered.
Quit with the vegetable part.
You two can argue about who is qualified to be a stoic hero of tragedies. I am not Ji Feng.
I am....oh shit...it's that dragon's younger brother... Huge body on four legs. Staring at us with drool dripping from above the trees. Drool squashing them.
Those trees are at least a six storey building high with the width as big as my room in Clear Dragon Pond's lodging. The sounds of them crashing from just a huge splatter. Holy Godzilla.
"Too late, it's here. None of us are leaving this place. What about a qi vessel?"
"Useless but worth a try," Lianfeng said, with his palms still glued on Wugang's back. "Waist belt has the same pendant with the same talisman."
"Take... mine ... too... same place... the only pendant."
Rushing to their side, with my eyes on the monster, I got down and fumbled for the pendant. One side pull. An unknot. Then to Wugang, same thing. Two pendants to contain supernatural red glowing Godzilla on fours there.
"So do I throw the pendants at that dragon?"
Lianfeng nodded.
Bigger they are, the easier to throw and hit somewhere. This one was now moving faster in our direction. That drool. Bad news.
A blink. I was in the same dreamscape. This cannot be. At the most crucial moment. A tutorial has to pop up? There was no human form. The entire area was scotched earth except for the bloodied willow tree swaying in the windless air.
"It isn't a tutorial." The entity read my mind.
"Zaixing, is that you? Come out you b******"
"Zaixing? You better hope that he isn't here. He worsens everything."
Same thing against Zaixing. Same entity.
"I have to kill Godzilla there, no time to talk to whoever you are. Can you let me use those pendants first and we will have a conversation later? After Godzilla is dead?"
"An hour here is a tenth of a second there. We have plenty of time. Xuan qi can save your friends. Lianfeng and Wugang,"the entity replied.
"So how do I activate it?"
It casually added, "Bear in mind, these mortals are not open minded about xuan qi. Fear still rules when there is the unknown. Every world is the same. I will help you to use it. Only a condition lays before you."
Damnit, talking conditions at a crucial moment.
"As long as it doesn't affect others," I countered.
"It does affect one. Zaixing. Condition is simple: never tell him about me."
I huffed in frustration and said, "How can I hide it from my thoughts? He is a deity!"
"You only need never tell. If he finds out through other means, against your will, I won't hold it against you."
"Agreed."
"That blackish purplish dot on your finger. Use it. One thought and it is done. Destroy or protect is your choice. If you survive, you break through the first level of Xuan qi use."
Levels again. Why does everyone from deity to mortal like categorising things in terms of bottom to top? Hierarchies are a pain.
"Try throwing the pendant NOW," Lianfeng's voice suddenly interrupted, shattering the dreamscape.
Reality of my worst nightmare returned with the horrendous sight of big daddy Godzilla on fours, was now ten meters away.
Focus, one thought. Pendants on Godzilla there... I aimed with the affected index finger, pointing at the glowing red reptilian horror.
I threw the two - a strange blackish purplish aura shot out of my index finger and shot the now falling pendants, straight onto the head of Godzilla.
A large burst of bright light as two bluish energy formations lit up on both sides. Each with mysterious markings around the boundaries.
One eardrum shattering roar from what seemed like two giant high powered vacuum cleaners sucking the red aura from the creature. Godzilla was starting to shrink.
Now everything should be over now since it looked restrained.
But old rule on Earth applies here - misfortune comes in three and misery loves company.
First misfortune, Wugang seriously injured.
Second misfortune, glowing red Godzilla on fours.
Third has to be my favorite. F**king big brother of Godzilla to the rescue.
Same Jurassic like monster which injured Wugang was hurdling towards us. Another earth shattering roar. The humongous body, was now growing bigger like the size of the f**king moon on a collision course.
Really, must I use this xuan qi thing?
The entity was correct. Fear of the unknown leads to persecution. That's how witches were burnt at the stake in medieval Earth. The last trick was an easy cover up. Pendants can take the credit.
"Run." Lianfeng said. "I just wanted to say... knowing you since we were kids..."
Whatever he said was muffled out by the large mo dragon's deafening roar.
It was definitely diving at top collision speed into our clearing. Behind was a flicker of hope. The elders and some others were now chasing behind.
'Destroy or protect is your choice', that entity repeated in my panicking head. Ah, a Force-field. It can hold. But how?
Focus, one thought. [Focus focus focus... Force-field!]
