Shara awkwardly wiggled her body up and down and swam slowly, her five legs gripping the sand and pulling her forward.
She had trouble swimming at first, but she stated to get the hang of it after a while.
As she swam around, she quickly noticed how empty the place was. Not a single fish could be seen, not living ones at least.
She looked around the area that was filled with dead bodies of various fishes, some still alive and bleeding while others had been dead for a long time.
"What happened here..?"
Shara glanced at the dead bodies that had parts of them bitten off by something. Some of them were still whole, all that's left of the others were just tiny chunks of meat.
It wasn't like she was scared to look at the dead bodies, what she was scared off was what could've possibly killed this number of bodies.
Seeing that all of them died in the same area, either they had a huge battle to the death or a very strong enemy killed them all. Shara frowned at the latter.
She was all alone, surrounded by bloody corpses, and the predator could possibly still be here in the area and she could risk being ripped into pieces like these unfortunate bodies.
Shara felt sinking fear on her abdomen.
'I just need to get something to eat, then I'm outta here.' she rationalized. Shara calmed down slightly and agreed with that thought. Just take a piece of meat and bolt.
She speared a floating piece of flesh with her scythe and stared at it for a moment. Her mandibles clacked in uncertainty, is it really okay to eat this?
Shara's tail swooshed as she was thinking. Pushing aside her disgust, survival was more important right now.
She was very cautious as to why there would be random dead bodies floating around here. The creature that killed them didn't really eat the bodies either. Looking at the amount of corpses floating around, she has a bad feeling that the creature just killed for the sake of killing.
Just in case something dangerous appears, she took a few more sliced pieces of flesh and swam away to a nearby coral reef and hid inside the dark cracks underneath, keeping a close eye around her while hiding.
She put the flesh close to her mouth and braced herself. She doesn't mind eating this thing as long as it fills her stomach, she just hopes it's not poisonous.
Her mandibles tore through the meat easily and the mouth hidden inside her mandibles took a bite, the taste making her pause.
It tasted... like nothing.
Shara sighed in depressed frustration. Although she had already anticipated this, it's still very unfortunate.
Shara groaned in dismay, 'I would rather starve than live without taste!
The raw meat I'll be eating from now on would probably taste gross though!'
Shara bit into nothing. She proceeded to sputter in confusion before realizing that she had already eaten all of the meat she took with her.
She was still hungry.
Shara felt torn between going back to get food and just staying here for safety. Then, she remembered the conditions of the Main Scenario.
"Kill one or more living things and survive until dawn. Killing other Players is also expectable..." Shara shivered. Did she really have to?
Shara clacked her mandibles in annoyance and her tail swished behind her as she feel into deep thought.
In the game, eating was one way to replenish stamina or gaining useful items, maybe take some one or two high level items if she was lucky.
The enemy might still be lurking nearby, but there was valuable loot outside, hiding was also an option though it meant having to leave all of the loot behind which she was very reluctant to do.
After making a quick debate inside her head, she hesitantly swam back over to the corpses and inspected them, trying to identify if they were safe to eat or not. Who knows, maybe they were poisonous or something.
A few distance away from Shara was a strange looking fish swimming towards her direction, silently approaching.
The dark red fish swam calmly like a confident predator that slowly approached its prey. Its body was protected by Its scaly armor and Its keen teeth was protruding out of its mouth disturbingly.
Shara had her back to the fish, too busy picking out her food to notice.
Then, something strange happened. The fishes body turned translucent and blended in with the water. The red fish had turned invisible!
Shara's antennae sensed movement coming from behind her and quickly turned around to look.
*CRACK*
Sharp jaws snapped shut behind her back and her vision turned to white!
First, she heard a crack, then, intense pain flooded her senses.
Shara let out a voiceless scream.
