scene thirty-three - remember - year ten

Once upon a time, they looked forward to lunchtimes. They never knew what to expect: swapping money and cigarettes behind the canteen or clawing their way up to the roof for a catnap before last period. That was before the toilet cubicle became their daily haunt—the last one, with a tiled wall to one side and a functioning lock. Before… before they decided that they weren’t good enough for anyone, therefore they weren’t good enough to stay behind the Arts building with the rest of them, laughing and eating and just generally being happy.
