And then it clicked, Charles.
His here to return her sneakers.
But he doesn't know that his princess is the tree girl.
Would he be angry if he finds out she knew him but pretended not to.
"Tell him am not at home". Karen says with much confidence.
"Are you sure dear".
"Yes am sure".
"Alright". Mrs Williams left the room, living karen with her thoughts.
Well things just got interesting.
Mrs. Williams went back downstairs.
"Am sorry dear, but she isn't at home". Mrs Williams smiles at the young guy standing infront of her.
"Oh, when would she be back". Charles asks disappointment lacing in his voice. He truly wanted to meet the tree girl and return her sneaker.
"She went to see a friend but I don't know when she would be back". Mrs Williams lies. She feels bad for lying to him, but she has no choice.
"Ok then, I'll take my leave now". Charles gave Mrs Williams one of his charming smiles before living. He was kinda disappointed, he really wanted to meet the girl who's sneaker he has been keeping for the past few days.
But Tyler said the girl goes to their school, Charles thought.
"I think I just brainstormed". Charles whispered to his self smiling. He left the house with a plan in mind, he truly can't wait to excercute his plan.
****
"His gone, but why did you make me lie to him". Mrs Williams asks Karen after she was sure he had left.
"Because I don't feel like meeting anyone right now". Karen answers looking outside.
"Who is he".
"A friend from school".
"Then why didn't he know your name". Mrs Williams has now turned to a detective. She's very sure there's something fishy going on.
"We are not that close, I guess he forgot. Why all the questioning, am so hungry Mrs Willy". Karen whines. If they go on with this she'll have to spill out the whole truth at a point in time.
"Oh yeah forgot to tell you. Dinner is ready". Mrs Williams smiles getting up.
Yes! Mrs Williams kitchen is what to use to make her forget. The woman loves to cook a lot and food is one thing to use to distract her.
"Alright then, let's go". Karen says also standing up. Keeping her mug on the table, she followed Mrs Williams down to the kitchen.
Karen ate her food in silence as Mrs Williams had gone back to the kitchen to clean up.
Normally she eats dinner together with her Dad, except for when he travels like now. Dinner gets lonely whenever his not around.
After dinner, Karen went upstairs to do her assignments. She sat on her study and brought out her notes and started doing her assignments.
Karen was lost deep in concentration before the ringing of her phone brought her back to the surface.
She checked the callers ID before answering the call.
"Daddy". Karen cheered as she pressed the accept.
"Princess, how are you doing". Mr Jaxtyn smiles from the other end of the line.
"Am doing great daddy, how is Toronto and how is your work".
"Good and work is very stressful". Mr Jaxtyn sighs.
"Don't worry, you'll be back this week Friday".
"Yeah but today is Monday and I already miss home badly".
"Stop whining Daddy, your an adult".
"Well I don't want to be an adult anymore, let's switch places princess". Mr Jaxtyn says making Karen laugh.
"Even a teenagers life is very stressful Daddy, don't think it's easy".
"Oh really, is it not just to wake up, go to school, learn, have fun, come home, do assignments and then other stuff that teenagers do. But anyways I was a teenager once upon a time".
Karen laughs. "That was many years ago Daddy, the world has changed so much now".
"Yeah true. Hope you have eaten your lunch".
"Yes Daddy, what of you".
Mr Jaxtyn sighs. "No, I've been very busy, but I will eat as soon as I cut the call".
"Then what are you waiting for go eat. Good night Daddy".
"Nighty night princess, make sure you have a good beauty sleep".
Karen smiled. "Ok Daddy". After a few more plesentries, they both hung up and karen was left alone again with the silence of the night.
For the next few hours Karen kept on doing her assignments until her eyelids started to close.
She closed all her books and laptop and arranged everything like the neat freak she was.
After that she changed into her pajamas and brushed her teeth then got into bed.
She carried her phone and realized she had a message. She hardly gets messages from people, who could it be. Strange thing, it's not only one message.
The first one was a message from Sophia and the second was from an unknown number.
She first clicked on Sophia's message which read
-Hi, Charles asked me for your number earlier.
Karen's eyes widen at that. She immidatley typed her reply.
-Did you give it to him.
-Yeah, he said he wanted to ask you for your note.
-Alright then.
-Ok we'll speak tomorrow, am very tired now.
-Ok, good night.
-Nighty night:)
Karen then entered the message from the unknown number, it must be Charles, she thought.
It read
-Hi princess.
-Charles!.
-How do you know it was me:(
Charles replied immediately, do they really sleep, Karen thought.
-Well your the only specie that calls me princess.
Karen lied.
Her Dad and Charles sister also call her princess.
-Hmm I smell a rat, tell me the truth, it was Sophia that told you right.
-She didn't tell me but you just confessed. So Sophia gave you my number.
-I insisted that's why she gave me, don't be angry at her.
-I can't blame her, am sure you forced her.
-What! I asked her nicely and she agreed.
-Sure.
-So what you doing. Am so bored.
-Really, guess what.
-What?
-Am sleepy, good night. And you should consider getting sleeping as well.
-It's too early for me to sleep.
-Which time to do sleep.
-Anytime actually, I just don't feel like sleeping now.
-Well don't disturb me, I very much feel like sleeping.
-But you can't allow me to stay up alone, in this lonely night.
-Don't you have anyone else to talk to.
-My mom and sister are both sleeping.
-i mean like a friend.
-Am talking to you.
-Not anymore, good night.
With that Karen offed her phone and light. Getting under her covers, Karen drifted into a sweet sleep with a smile planted on her face.
