CHAPTER 46: GIRL TALKS

“Finallyyyy! Washroom!”

Orion rushed out of the car the moment it parked at a gasoline station an hour later. The family car initiated the stopover for a washroom break, but most importantly for a gasoline refill.

“You can drop the act, now. You’re gonna hurt your neck.” Adrielle mumbled with a serious face. He doesn't look like he was enjoying the moment.

Ira opened her eyes and as she gently moved her neck, she felt the painful stiffness caused by the bad position she placed herself in.

“Ooow!” she groaned.

The gentleman dropped his stern face and felt sorry for her. He reached out for the neck pillow placed at the back of the car and offered it to her. She stared at the yellow neck pillow for a while and shyly accepted it, still not looking in his direction.

“Don’t you need to pee?” he asked.

She softly shook her head. And then they became quiet again.

Ten minutes later, Orion was back. The first thing that quickly caught his attention was the yellow pillow. How he wanted to steal that pillow but when he checked on his sister, she was asleep for real.

Thirty minutes later, they reached the resort and excitedly unpacked their stuff. Ares proceeded to the reception desk to get their keys while the other men carried their things to the cottage. Meanwhile, the ladies arranged their food and put on some decorations too to set a celebration vibe.

When Orion went in, he was so pleased.

“Beautiful! I love it! Thank you for doing this, guys!”

Seah smiled. “Anything to make the birthday boy happy! Happy Birthday, Rion!”

“Awwwe, Seah!” Orion gave Seah a warm embrace and a kiss on the head. “You're the best sister-in-law ever!”

"Yeah, right! Except that I'm your only sister-in-law!" Seah replied with a laugh.

Watching him being this sweet birthday boy, Ira cringed at the hypocrisy she is witnessing.

“It’s time to blow the candles!” Mageneo announced as he arrived with a big cake with a 23-candle on top.

They all gathered around the cottage to sing Orion a birthday song.

“HAAAAPPY BIIIRTHDAAAAY TOOO YOUUU!” Everyone sang in a chorus.

“Make a wish before you blow, Rion?” Seah prompted.

Orion closed his eyes and with a smile, he said, “I wish nothing but for this day to be happier and this family closer.”

After blowing out the candle, everybody made some noise and clapped their hands for the celebrator. Then they indulged their selves in the scrumptious meal their father prepared for the celebration. Everything that Orion loves to eat was there – Lechon belly, blueberry cheesecake, mushroom steak, sweet and sour ribs, pizza casserole, and his favorite of all, grilled lobsters.

Later in the afternoon, the girls went to their rooms to change into their swimming outfits. Seah, who has a separate room together with her husband, knocked on Ira and Maggie’s room.

“Come in!” Maggie shouted while checking herself in the mirror, if she didn’t look fat in her floral deep V-neck one-piece swimsuit or if her tattered denim shorts weren’t too short.

“You girls, ready?” Seah beamed beautifully as she called from the door.

Maggie dropped her jaw upon seeing Seah in a black bandeau swimsuit covered in a lacy white sarong. Her porcelain skin glowed making her look so seductive.

“OH, MY GAWD! GIRL, YOU ARE GOING TO TURN THE SUMMER HEAT ON A COLD OCTOBER BECAUSE YOU ARE ON FIRE!!!”

Seah laughed. “Thanks, Maggie! You look gorgeous too.”

Maggie frowned. “Really? Isn’t my belly too big?”

“No, it’s not,” Seah assured.

“Oh, wow! You, ladies, are going to blind everyone on the beach.” Ira, going out of the bathroom, remarked.

As soon as she stepped out of the shower room, the other two ladies sneered at how horrible Ira looked at her neon green rash guard and black knew-length cycling.

“OH, MY GAWD! PLEASE! YOU ARE NOT WEARING THAT AT THE BEACH!” Maggie, the fashion police, exclaimed.

“Why? It doesn’t look bad.”

“It isn’t bad! IT IS THE WORST!” Maggie continued.

Ira dropped her shoulders and sighed. “Don’t people wear this on the beach?”

“Ira! You are not a 13-year-old kid who would play sandcastles on the shore.”

“You know what? I don’t care! I’m wearing this whether you girls like it or not!”

Snatching her towel from the bed, Ira walked out. But Maggie and Seah were quick to embrace her and pulled her back into the bathroom.

“Girlsss! What are you doing?” she screamed scuffling from their embrace.

“You are not going out with that horrible outfit!” Maggie scolded.

“But I don’t have anything else to wear!” Ira argued.

“I have some extra swimwear. You can have it.” Seah offered.

Ira looked at how sexy Seah was and had second thoughts.

“Erm… I can’t wear something like that. That’s too revealing for me.”

“Don’t worry. It’s a one-piece swimsuit. You can wear shorts or cover yourself with a kimono or a sarong.”

Ira sighed.

“Let’s make her wear that, Seah. She’s not going anywhere with this outfit. I’ll pin her in the toilet if I need to.”

“FINE!!! You don’t have to be harsh!”

Seah laughed as she left the room to get the swimwear. Five minutes later, she was back with a maroon backless one-piece swimsuit.

“It’s backless but at least it’s not that revealing. I call this a conservative sexy suit.” Seah consoled to convince her sister-in-law to wear it.

Ira rolled her eyes and grabbed the swimwear and went inside the bathroom to change. When she got out, she was wearing the swimsuit in her denim shorts. She had her hair tied in a messy bun making her look more attractive.

The ladies were very pleased.

“That’s more I like it!” Maggie bellowed.

“You’re so cute, Ira. I can tell you’re gonna be a head-turner later.”

“Nah! I don't think so! Pretty sure, you're gonna get that title!” Ira remarked, staring at Seah's alluring look from head to toe.

“Oh, I agree with her, Girl! I’m pretty sure someone’s eyes are going to be stuck on you.” Maggie winked.

“Ugh! Thanks, Mags! Now I remember how complicated and awkward my situation is.”

Seah folded her arms and raised her eyebrow. “Ahem! Excuse me? Am I missing some girl talk here? What is this about?”

“Well, someone’s dating someone!”

Seah gasped covering her mouth. “OMG! Do you mean… really?”

Ira sighed slumping on the bed. “Ugh, Maggie! You and your big mouth!”

Seah sat beside Ira and smiled excitedly. “Come on, Ira! You can share things with me too.”

“I’m sorry, Seah. Please don't let my brothers know. I was supposed to keep this a secret because we’re not getting any serious yet. And the fact that he is my brother’s best friend, I’m not so sure how they would react.”

“Correction!” Maggie butt in. “You’re the one who’s not getting any serious because this guy is so damn taking things to a high level.”

“Really? But what happened?” Seah asked.

“Well! She stood him up on their last date! That’s why they’re awkward now.” Maggie answered.

Seah gasped. "Oooh! But why?"

“Not showing up on that date wasn’t intentional. It was that night when the incident happened.”

“Ow ok! Understandable! But you’re planning to talk to him, right?” Seah implied.

“Should I?”

“OF COURSE, YOU SHOULD!” Maggie, out of frustration, yelled.

“Yes, you should, Ira.” Seah seconded. “For closure. If you want the dating to continue, you guys must talk. But if you want to end it, at least end it well."

"You know what, girls!" Maggie exclaimed and animatedly voiced out her thoughts. "This conversation is giving us gloomy vibes. Why don't we go out now because I am feeling that the sea is calling me!"

The girls laughed.

They concluded their conversation and stepped out of the room.

Shades on, the ladies in their most alluring getups raided the resort with their beauty. Head-turners of the beach, they say! And they lived to that statement because everyone in that resort, men and women of all ages, was watching them tread the beach.

"You don't look happy." Eros scoffed at his brother.

"Certainly, not!" With his piercing eyes, Ares replied.
