“Are you and Skye not on good terms?” Maggie leaned on the wall with folded arms and talked in a whisper when Skye passed by them without saying a word. 


Ira glanced at Skye’s lean back, then at Maggie, and then to the window to check the weather outside. 


“I don’t know. But I was salty at him this morning.” 


“Girl! Are you bitter with the board’s decision?” she gasped. 


“No, I’m not.” She barked, glaring at Maggie with crinkled eyebrows. “I was mad at him because he was being crackbrained, telling me that he would give up the position for me. That’s just stupid.” 


“Oh! He stepped on your pride, didn’t he?” 


Ira zipped her lips and pouted them. He did step on her pride. 


“But come to think of it… maybe he was just trying to be nice.”
